Anderson Varejao (knee) is expected to return to the lineup on Wednesday vs. the Wizards.

Varejao will have missed a week of action if he returns on Wednesday. Owners are salivating for Varejao to get back on the floor as he's averaging a ridiculous 14.1 points, 14.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks on 47.8 percent shooting.

The Bulls will announce Fred Hoiberg as their new head coach Tuesday afternoon.

It's been the worst-kept secret in the NBA this week and Hoiberg is going to have some big shoes to fill. His deal will be a five-year, $25 million deal, according to Yahoo! Sports. Hoiberg's Iowa State teams played with a ton of pace and were also fairly efficient. The Bulls were never in the top 20 for pace with Tom Thibodeau, so there should be more fantasy goodness to go around.

Klay Thompson did everything at practice on Monday and said he fully expects to play on Thursday.

He went through five-on-five, shooting drills and participated in defensive drills. Thompson also said he's a nine out of 10 for his health. He'll be evaluated on Tuesday morning and said he'd be "very shocked" if he didn't get cleared. We'll have an update tomorrow morning.

Klay Thompson (concussion) was shooting around after practice on Monday, but he still hasn't been cleared to play.

He had a lengthy workout and is easily on track to play against the Cavs on Thursday. Thompson hasn't been having headaches and he doesn't appear to have any light sensitivity issues. Expect him to be a full go without a restriction on Thursday.

LeBron James is playing through a sprained right wrist.

James has been playing with the sprain all season long, so although he had it wrapped at Monday's practice, it's not going to be any kind of concern going forward. King James will take his court for as many games as it takes against the Warriors in the Finals.

The New Orleans Pelicans have officially hired Alvin Gentry as their head coach.

"We are excited to announce that Alvin Gentry is the new head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans. We warmly welcome Alvin and his family to the Pelicans organization," said GM Dell Demps. Gentry expressed his excitement as well, but he will not officially begin his new role until the Golden State Warriors conclude the NBA Finals. Gentry should help to maximize Anthony Davis' seemingly limitless offensive potential, which is a frightening thought for fantasy owners and every other NBA team in the league.

The Bulls are prepared to introduce Fred Hoiberg as their next head coach this week, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Hoiberg as the Bulls next head coach is the worst open secret in basketball right now, and that's been the case for some time. The two sides are expected to agree upon a five-year, $25 million agreement to lure Hoiberg back to the NBA, and an announcement could come as early as Monday or Tuesday.

Cavs head coach David Blatt said that Kyrie Irving (knee) took part in some of Sunday's practice, but added that Kyrie is still not himself yet.

Kyrie is making progress, and still has a full five days to rest up for the Finals, but if he's not 100 percent the Cavs are going to have a rough time trying to defend Stephen Curry. We'll continue to track Irving's progress each step of the way, but 100 percent or not, we expect Irving to be in uniform for Game 1 of the Finals.
May 31 - 4:17 PM

Kevin Love (shoulder) is confident he'll be ready for the start of the 2015-16 season and that he "expects" to be sporting a Cavs jersey.

Love has hinted more than a few times that he will return to the Cavs next season, but you can never really believe what a player says in a contract year. There have also been a lot of "inside sources" that claim he will consider all his options this offseason, and it'll be very interesting to see if he picks up his player option worth $16.7 million when the offseason hits. If Love opts out, the Celtics, Lakers, and Rockets are said to have interest in acquiring his services. As a side note, Love said he reached out to Kelly Olynyk via text and that they're "all good" now.

Julius Randle believes that his leg is 100 percent and said that his surgically-repaired foot is no longer a factor in his recovery.

"I believe I am," Randle said when asked if he was 100 percent. "The last time I checked probably about a month ago, the bone was 95 percent healed. I feel great." The news just keeps getting better for Randle, and it should also be noted that he was recently cleared for half court 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 sessions with full contact. All signs point to him being ready to play at the Las Vegas Summer League, and there is no reason why he couldn't carve out a sizable role on the Lakers next season if he has a strong showing.

The Bulls are negotiating a five-year deal with Fred Hoiberg to become their new head coach.

The expectation is that a deal will be done in the middle of the upcoming week. According to this ESPN report, sources say this deal is "all but complete." Hoiberg will be the second former Iowa State coach to head over to coach the Bulls. Of course, Chicago will be hoping this time around goes better than it did with Tim Floyd.

The Knicks have been "enamored" with Kentucky forward Trey Lyles, according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

Isola, a plugged-in writer for years, is citing a team source for this scoop, so it's not something we should dismiss. The Knicks are really in a tough spot because there are a number of possibilities for them at four. We've heard they like Justise Winslow and Emmanuel Mudiay could be an option, too. As for Lyles, the 6'10 big man will likely go in the top 10. Of course, the Knicks would probably want to trade back.
