Ricky Rubio was ruled out of Saturday's game due to back spasms.

At least the problem isn't his knee. Rubio is averaging 4.2 points and 4.0 assists this season, and he's still limited to 25 minute per game, so hopefully he wasn't in many lineups. Consider him day-to-day.

Mo Williams (illness) returned to action on Friday against the Lakers, scoring 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting (including six threes) with one rebound, 11 assists and two steals in 30 minutes.

It was Williams third double-double of the year and his first 20 and 10 game since December 2012. He's going to be a must-start player unless owners know of an impending absence due to one of his various maladies.

Corey Brewer flirted with a triple-double in Friday's win against the Lakers, scoring 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting (no threes) with seven rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 31 minutes.

Even if we discount the fact that this was against the Lakers defense and assume he won't be this good on most nights, it's clear that Flip Saunders trusts him and there's a big window in which the team will be comprised of the same parts it had tonight. There's too much meat to this bone to not call him a must-own player.
Nov 29 - 4:19 AM

Rookie Zach LaVine scored a career-high 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting (including two threes) with one rebound and five assists in 26 minutes off the bench on Friday.

LaVine did this against the defenseless Lakers and for that reason it should be viewed skeptically, but perhaps we were a bit too harsh on him given his extremely limited experience. If he can roll this into some momentum there is a big window with Ricky Rubio out for over a month, and Mo Williams (25 and 11) isn't exactly the world's most durable player. Still, LaVine basically struck out in his first opportunity and he will likely be all over the board in terms of production, assuming he can get enough minutes to matter in standard leagues. If you want to take a flier after tonight, though, we couldn't blame you.
Nov 29 - 4:14 AM

Nicolas Batum said he's still struggling with his knee injury and it showed on Friday, as he hit just 3-of-11 shots (0-for-5 3PTs) for six points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks in 35 minutes.

Batum still defended Mike Conley (instead of Damian Lillard) and he doesn't look like he'll need time off, but owners should tone down their expectations in the short-term. "I’m short every time," he said about his shooting. "I got to get my rhythm back. Since I got my (platelet-rich plasma injection) in my knee. It’s short. I can’t really push on it yet. But, it’s going to come."

Wes Matthews hit seven threes and 9-of-16 shots overall in Friday's loss, finishing with 26 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Matthews is rolling right now and averaging 4.3 threes per game over his last four contests. He's a solid mid-round value on the year and shouldn't leave lineups.
Nov 29 - 4:00 AM

Marc Gasol torched the Blazers in Portland on Friday, scoring 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting with seven rebounds, nine assists and one block.

Gasol has slimmed down and he is crushing the opposition with top-10 value on the season. He might be shooting over his head a little bit now that he's taking a career-high 14.1 shots per game, and the only time he has hit his current free throw rate (84.1 percent) was in 2012-13 (84.8%). His best season other than that was a 76.8 percent campaign last year. Regardless, he's going to be fun to own.
Nov 29 - 3:57 AM

Mike Conley was one assist shy of a triple-double in Friday's win over the Blazers, scoring 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting with 10 rebounds and nine assists.

Conley did not hit a three or get any defensive stats, so this game won't have as much impact as it could have on the rankings. At a fourth round value this season, he has closed the gap on his ADP and has a ways to go before he meets expectations in competitive standard leagues.
Nov 29 - 3:53 AM

David West (ankle) made his season debut in the Pacers' 98-83 win over the Magic on Friday, scoring 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting with six rebounds, four assists and one steal in 24 minutes.

West is going to play a big role for the Pacers as offensive initiator from the post and his scoring will be relied upon all year. If he can stay healthy he should have some pretty gaudy numbers while George Hill is out.
Nov 29 - 3:25 AM

Kawhi Leonard flirted with a 5x5 line in the Spurs' 112-104 win over the Kings on Friday, scoring 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting (including four threes) with four rebounds, two assists, three steals and four blocks.

Flirt may be a strong word with three steals in there and 3-pointers being used instead of the traditional 'PTs-REBs-ASTs-STLs-BLKs' for 5x5 status -- but really who cares. He's just below second round value while his shooting percentages and blocks have still yet to catch up to career levels. Enjoy the ride.
Nov 29 - 2:50 AM

Rudy Gay (Achilles) returned to action in Friday's loss to the Spurs, scoring 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting (1-of-2 from deep, 4-of-6 from the line) with eight rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 35 minutes.

That Gay did this with no DeMarcus Cousins around to keep the defense honest and Kawhi Leonard draped all over him all night is impressive. He's returning top 20-30 value on the season and the only number that seems out of place is his foul shooting (87.5 percent), which is about nine percent above his career 78.7 percent mark.
Nov 29 - 2:31 AM

Russell Westbrook obliterated the Knicks in his return from a 14-game absence due to a broken hand, scoring 32 points on 12-of-17 shooting (three treys) with seven rebounds, eight assists and a steal in the Thunder's 105-78 win.

Weekly league owners needed refills for their salivary glands watching these pinball numbers go off from their bench. Our long international wait is over!
