Mo Williams had a complete tear of the ligament in his right thumb.

Williams' injury is eerily similar to the one he suffered in 2008. He will be out for a minimum of six weeks, and that's when the "rehab really starts," according to Williams. It doesn't sound like he'll be back before March, at the earliest.

Gordon Hayward (finger) will not play on Thursday vs. the Warriors.

This is a tough blow for a Jazz team that also ruled out Rodney Hood (hamstring) and George Hill (toe) for Thursday, not to mention Derrick Favors (knee). Hayward broke his finger during the preseason and missed the first six games of the campaign, and he aggravated it on Tuesday vs. the Suns -- he played through the injury after he had it re-taped. X-rays were negative, so luckily he's day-to-day. Several players will have to step up, but Joe Johnson and Shelvin Mack look like the best short-term adds in standard leagues.
Dec 8 - 1:02 PM

Ian Mahinmi (knee) is questionable for Thursday's game vs. Denver.

He reportedly went through portions of the morning shootaround, so we know he's getting closer. The Wizards have every reason to bring him along slowly, so his minutes will be limited if he's able to play Thursday. Leave him on the wire while Marcin Gortat is healthy.
Dec 8 - 1:01 PM

Jrue Holiday (turf toe) is a game-time call against the 76ers on Thursday.

Holiday says he feels a lot less pain in his toe, so he's truly day-to-day. If the Pelicans take the cautious approach and hold him out, Tim Frazier will be looking at heavy minutes as the fill-in starter, as he played 39 minutes in the double-overtime loss to Memphis on Monday. Check back for an update after the pre-game warmups.
Dec 8 - 12:42 PM

Updating a previous report, Nikola Jokic (wrist) and Jamal Murray (quad) are both available to play Thursday vs. the Wizards.

As expected, the probable tag was just a formality. Nuggets coach Michael Malone is contemplating a lineup change for Thursday and Jokic has a good chance of entering the starting five at the expense of Jusuf Nurkic.
Dec 8 - 12:02 PM

Nikola Jokic (wrist) and Jamal Murray (quad) are probable for Thursday's game vs. the Wizards.

The probable tag is likely just a formality on the second night of a back-to-back set, as both players are fully expected to play. There's no word of any setbacks and Jokic is a candidate to start Thursday's game over Jusuf Nurkic after the Nuggets had a meltdown in Brooklyn Wednesday. His fantasy value is trending up and his owners can look forward to some more great lines after he finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and one block in 21 minutes on Wednesday.
Dec 8 - 11:11 AM

DeMarre Carroll's (rest) status for Thursday's game vs. the Wolves is unclear.

He's not cleared for both games of back-to-back sets at least until the new year, meaning he will either sit on Thursday vs. the Wolves or Friday vs. the Celtics. Norman Powell will likely draw the start when Carroll sits which puts him on the streaming and DFS radar. We may not know Carroll's status until an hour or so before tip-off.
Dec 8 - 11:09 AM

Isaiah Thomas (groin) is doubtful for Friday's game vs. the Raptors.

Celtics GM Danny Ainge revealed that Thomas got a PRP injection for his groin injury on Wednesday and said he "probably" wouldn't play vs. Toronto. With Thomas on the shelf on Wednesday, Marcus Smart drew the start and scored 13 points with three assists, three rebounds, two steals and one trey in 23 minutes (foul trouble), while Terry Rozier produced 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one triple in 26 minutes off the bench. Smart should already be owned in standard leagues, but Rozier could have some short-term value.
Dec 8 - 9:20 AM

Stephen Curry racked up an NBA season-high seven steals vs. the Clippers on Wednesday, adding 19 points, six assists and four rebounds in 33 minutes.

The steals tied Curry's personal career-high and the only caveat is that he went 0-of-8 from downtown tonight. Curiously, he has made at least one 3-pointer in 172 of his past 174 games, with both of his blanks coming in road games at Staples Center this season (one each vs. the Lakers and Clippers). Historical footnotes are often all that's left to discuss about Curry, who puts on a brilliant show every time he takes the court.
Dec 8 - 1:50 AM

Tristan Thompson scored three points on Wednesday, going 0-of-5 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line, but he also secured a season-high 20 rebounds in 34 minutes of action.

Thompson added two steals, one block, one assist and zero turnovers, and his work on the glass was instrumental in the Cavs' 126-94 victory. Although he'll never offer much upside, Thompson remains a rock-steady source of boards, blocks and FG percentages. As a bonus for 9-cat owners, he turns the ball over just 0.5 times per game.
Dec 8 - 12:37 AM

LeBron James made a statement vs. the Knicks on Wednesday, racking up 25 points (7-of-10 FGs, 10-of-14 FTs) with seven assists, six rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one 3-pointer.

James relishes playing in Madison Square Garden, where his career 28.5 points per game rank third all-time behind Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. He had extra juice tonight due to a simmering feud with Phil Jackson, whom LBJ proceeded to stare down while leading his team to a commanding early lead. Follow the link for one of his many vicious dunks tonight.

Dec 8 - 12:36 AM

Patrick Beverley tied his career-high with 12 assists on Wednesday, adding 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals and a pair of 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

Bev shot 4-of-9 from the field and his five turnovers are the only smudge on an otherwise pristine line. One of his caveats in fantasy leagues has always been a lack of assists from the PG position, but so far this season he's averaging a career-high 3.9 dimes per game, which should hit four per game after tonight. Pick him up if you need a guard.
