Pau Gasol will be reexamined by a neurologist Wednesday.

Gasol was ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Bucks yesterday afternoon. All he can do is rest and hope he returns to baseline levels in time for his test Wednesday. During the four games that Gasol has missed, Earl Clark has averaged 12.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. His play could make it easier for the Lakers to trade Gasol at the Feb. 21 deadline.

Julyan Stone (groin) and Treveon Graham (hamstring) are expected to play in Wednesday's season opener against the Pistons.

Both Stone and Graham were full participants during Tuesday's practice, and they were not limited during shootaround, so things are trending in a positive direction here. With Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (personal), Nicolas Batum (elbow) and Michael Carter-Williams (knees) all unavailable, both Stone and Graham could get into the rotation, but neither guy has much fantasy appeal.

Frank Ntilikina (bruised right knee) will play limited minutes in Thursday's season opener against the Thunder.

Ntilikina said that he feels "100 percent," but the Knicks are going to bring the 19-year-old Frenchman along slowly. Ramon Sessions figures to start at point guard for New York to begin the season, but his value will likely be on a downward trajectory as we approach the second half of the year. Ntilikina owners should be treating him as a stash.
Oct 18 - 12:32 PM

Jason Smith is expected to start at power forward Wednesday vs. the 76ers, with Markieff Morris (hernia) unavailable.

Smith, Mike Scott and Otto Porter will likely be manning the four-spot until Morris can get back to the court, and while Smith had a nice preseason run, it's tough to envision him as much more than a low-end, streamer option in deep leagues. In four starts last season, Smith compiled averages of 12.3 points, 2.0 triples, 3.8 boards and not much else on 52.9 percent shooting.
Oct 18 - 12:25 PM

Draymond Green (left knee) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

We should have an official timetable for Green once the MRI results are released, but for now, we'll be considering him questionable for Friday's matchup with New Orleans. If Green is forced to the sidelines, David West or Andre Iguodala (back) could slide into the starting five, and there would be more minutes for rookie Jordan Bell. Stay tuned.
Oct 18 - 12:10 PM

Thon Maker will start at center for Wednesday's season opener against the Celtics.

The Bucks will roll out a starting five featuring Malcolm Brogdon, Tony Snell, Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Maker on Wednesday, and it'll be interesting to see what Maker's minutes look like in his second NBA season. As a starter last year, Maker averaged just 13.7 minutes per game, and the center position in Milwaukee will likely remain complicated with Greg Monroe and John Henson all vying for minutes at the five-spot.
Oct 18 - 11:41 AM

Jerryd Bayless will be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against Washington.

Joining Bayless in the starting five for tonight's game will be Ben Simmons, J.J. Redick, Robert Covington and Joel Embiid. Bayless will likely remain in the starting lineup until Markelle Fultz (shoulder) is fully up to speed, but it's tough to see him earning enough minutes to make a difference in most leagues.
Oct 18 - 11:28 AM

Terrence Ross (hamstring) is expected to start at shooting guard in Wednesday's season opener against the Heat.

Ross got through shootaround without any issues, so he should be looking at a full complement of minutes tonight as Orlando's starting two-man. He was a top-90 guy with the Magic last season, posting averages of 12.2 points, 1.9 triples and 1.4 steals per contest on 43.2 percent shooting, and he'll look to build on those numbers in his first full year in Orlando.
Oct 18 - 11:22 AM

Joel Embiid (knee) will play in Wednesday's season opener against the Wizards.

Brett Brown said that he'll keep Embiid's minutes in the teens to start the season, so don't expect to see The Process on the floor for much more than 16 minutes tonight. Jahlil Okafor will likely pick up most of the center minutes while Embiid is eased into the rotation, and guys like Amir Johnson and Dario Saric could also spend some time at the five-spot.
Oct 18 - 11:10 AM

Gordon Hayward (ankle) will evaluate a course of action for surgical scenarios after undergoing an MRI and CT scan in Boston on Wednesday.

While surgery is likely, it hasn't officially been decided if that's the course that Hayward will take, but we'll continue to monitor this situation closely. For what it's worth, Hayward's gruesome leg injury was reportedly a "clean break," but still, this is the sort of thing that could very well end his season. Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier and Marcus Morris all figure to see an uptick in minutes while Hayward is on the sidelines, while Kyrie Irving will be operating with a hefty usage rate.

Bobby Portis has a call setup with the NBA on Wednesday to discuss the altercation he got into with Nikola Mirotic on Tuesday, and he's expected to face a multi-game suspension.

The Bulls are currently "evaluating disciplinary actions" for Portis, but we doubt that he'll be available for Chicago's season opener against Toronto on Thursday. For what it's worth, Mirotic reportedly initiated Tuesday's altercation, charging at Portis after things got heated during a scrimmage, and Portis ended things with a single punch. If Portis was acting in self-defense, perhaps the league will be lenient with his suspension. Either way, Lauri Markkanen looks like a must-grab right now.
Oct 18 - 10:24 AM

Kemba Walker, Jeremy Lamb (groin), Marvin Williams and Dwight Howard will be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against the Pistons.

Head coach Steve Clifford hasn't yet announced his fifth starter, but there's a good chance that it'll be Dwayne Bacon moving into the starting five tonight with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (personal) and Nicolas Batum (elbow) on the sidelines. Lamb got in a full practice on Tuesday, and with the Hornets so thin on the wings, he figures to log heavy minutes in his regular season debut making him an intriguing low-budget option in daily leagues.
