Latest Headlines

Isaiah Thomas (groin) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Raptors.

Coach Brad Stevens called Thomas' groin strain "unpredictable" on Wednesday and Thomas even had a PRP injection, so seeing Thomas ruled out a day ahead of Friday's game makes sense. Marcus Smart was terrific in his start on Wednesday with 13 points while Terry Rozier turned in arguably his best game with 16 points. Jaylen Brown also saw an uptick in playing time sans Thomas.

Marc Gasol (right groin) is questionable for Thursday against the Blazers.

This is a new injury for Gasol. He played a whopping 80 minutes combined on Monday and Tuesday, which is by far the most he's played in a back-to-back set. Gasol did play down the stretch on Tuesday night and didn't appear to be hurt. That said, the Grizzlies could choose to be careful with their best player even though they're not on a back-to-back set tonight. If he's out, Zach Randolph and Jarell Martin figure to pick up extra run. JaMychal Green's upside also goes up here.
Dec 8 - 4:12 PM

Vince Carter (hip) will not play against the Blazers on Thursday night.

He was listed as questionable on the injury report on Wednesday, but Carter will miss his sixth straight game. Since he's been out, it's been Troy Williams, Troy Daniels and Tony Allen picking up most of the wing minutes. Daniels will have the greatest upside with his red-hot scoring numbers. The Grizzlies aren't on a back-to-back, so Allen could get decent run tonight.
Dec 8 - 3:15 PM

Shaun Livingston (rest) will not play against the Jazz on Thursday night.

The Warriors haven't announced any other players sitting tonight, so perhaps everyone else will be a go. Livingston has played 17.3 minutes per game on the season as the backup point guard behind Stephen Curry. Those minutes should be going to Ian Clark and Patrick McCaw, so both of those guys could be a factor tonight in a possible blowout.
Dec 8 - 3:03 PM

Moe Harkless (left ankle sprain) is questionable to play against the Grizzlies on Thursday night.

He may have suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter on Wednesday and didn't play in the final 31 seconds. Harkless has played almost all small forward lately and has seen a nice scoring bump with double-digit points for 11 straight games. If he can't go, it should be Allen Crabbe moving into the starting lineup while Evan Turner would also see a bump in minutes.
Dec 8 - 2:47 PM

76ers coach Brett Brown said Nerlens Noel could debut as early as Saturday vs. Detroit.

He is traveling with the team again as coach Brown wants him to integrate with the players and staff. His fantasy outlook is cloudy at best in Philly because he's not going to take away minutes from Joel Embiid, meaning he will have to fight for scraps with Jahlil Okafor off the bench. If you're stashing him, you simply have to hope he's traded to a better situation.
Dec 8 - 1:52 PM

Jahlil Okafor (gastroenteritis) has officially been ruled out for Thursday's game vs. New Orleans.

He remained home in Philly as he recovers from his illness. Okafor's next chance to play will be on Saturday vs. Detroit. Joel Embiid will play 28 minutes on Thursday with Richaun Holmes backing him up.
Dec 8 - 1:32 PM

Robert Covington (knee, illness) is available to play on Thursday vs. the Pelicans.

Wow. He was previously ruled out for this contest and was said to be targeting a return on Dec. 11, so his knee must be responding well to treatment. This is Philly we're talking about, so Ro-Co will likely have restrictions on his minutes. Nik Stauskas, Hollis Thompson and even Dario Saric takes a hit with this report.
Dec 8 - 1:29 PM

The Nets have requested waivers on PG Yogi Ferrell.

The Indiana product made 10 appearances for the Nets, averaging 5.4 points and 1.7 assists on 36.7 percent shooting. This could be a sign that Jeremy Lin (hamstring) is on the verge of a return.
Dec 8 - 1:15 PM

Doug McDermott (concussion) said he will play on Thursday vs. the Spurs.

He's been practicing in the D-League to get his conditioning back up, but the Bulls will "watch him closely" even though he doesn't have a minutes limit. McDermott averaged 10.6 points, 1.3 assists and 0.9 triples per contest prior to the concussion, so he's not an add in standard leagues. His return could take a handful of minutes away from Denzel Valentine, Isaiah Canaan and maybe even Nikola Mirotic.
Dec 8 - 1:12 PM

Gordon Hayward (finger) will not play on Thursday vs. the Warriors.

This is a tough blow for a Jazz team that also ruled out Rodney Hood (hamstring) and George Hill (toe) for Thursday, not to mention Derrick Favors (knee). Hayward broke his finger during the preseason and missed the first six games of the campaign, and he aggravated it on Tuesday vs. the Suns -- he played through the injury after he had it re-taped. X-rays were negative, so luckily he's day-to-day. Several players will have to step up, but Joe Johnson and Shelvin Mack look like the best short-term adds in standard leagues.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: With Hayward, Hill, Hood and Favors off the floor this season, Shelvin Mack leads the team in usage at a 27.9% clip (73 minutes) with Joe Johnson right behind him at 27.4% (50 minutes). Trey Lyles and Boris Diaw also own usage rates over 25% with the big four off the floor, so this Utah side provides us with plenty of potential value.
