Alvin Gentry and the Suns have agreed to "mutually part ways," and an interim coach is expected to be named in the next 24-48 hours

First of all, wow. Secondly, we can't say that it comes as a total surprise. Gentry's name has been mentioned by several when talking about coaches on the hot seat, and the Suns are 13-28 -- dead last in the entire Western Conference. Gentry was also in the final year of his contract. Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the favorites for the interim coaching position are Elston Turner and Lindsey Hunter.

Jamal Murray (concussion protocol) will not play against the Clippers on Wednesday.

The injury happened on Tuesday night and Murray was diagnosed with a facial contusion. He did return to the game in the fourth, but the team monitored him through the night and Wednesday morning. Murray does not have a timetable to return, but hopefully this is more of a day-to-day issue. With him out, that should mean Emmanuel Mudiay gets in the rotation again while Will Barton plays more PG. That should also open up minutes for Torrey Craig and Malik Beasley.

Skal Labissiere (shoulder) has been ruled out for Wednesday against the Jazz.

Just when it looked like Labissiere was going to get minutes on a regular basis, he has to sit out as the Kings turn to their youth. Coach Dave Joerger said he's expected to rest 2-3 veterans per game, but maybe this time Zach Randolph and Kosta Koufos suit up. On the other hand, the Kings could turn to Georgios Papagiannis or run more small-ball lineups, but either way Z-Bo and Koufos can't be trusted. Willie Cauley-Stein is really the only reliable Kings big these days.

Kyrie Irving has a sore left shoulder and did not practice on Wednesday.

He is also going to be questionable to play against the 76ers on Thursday. Irving played a season-high 41 minutes on Tuesday, and he's also in a bad slump to start 2018 at just 35.4 FG% in those five games. If he can't go, Terry Rozier and Shane Larkin figure to pick up the most playing time. Hopefully, he is only being held out of practice as a precaution.

The Spurs announced on Wednesday that Kawhi Leonard will be out for an indefinite period of time as he continues to rehab from right quadricep tendinopathy.

"Kawhi has made significant progress and continues to move forward in his rehabilitation," said Spurs' GM R.C. Buford. "This is the best approach for the next steps in his return to play." Buford's statement conflicts with the fact that Leonard will be hitting the sidelines indefinitely, and while Leonard tried to downplay his absence from Monday's game as part of the program, this is very concerning given he's only appeared in nine games this season. It's been a rough year for Leonard, and it could be tough to hang onto him if your league doesn't offer an IR-spot.

Brett Brown hinted that Jerryd Bayless will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Celtics, with J.J. Redick (leg) unavailable.

Brown said that Bayless will be "first up" to fill Redick's spot, and said he'll also try to find more minutes for guys like Timothe Luwawu and Justin Anderson. As a starter this season, Bayless owns averages of 11.0 points, 2.1 triples and 1.5 assists per contest on 44.9% shooting, so he could be someone to think about as a deep league streamer on Thursday.
Jan 17 - 1:49 PM

James Harden (hamstring) is expected to return to the court for Thursday's game against the Timberwolves.

Assuming all goes well during Wednesday's practice, Harden should be able to get back to the court for Thursday night's game, which will queue Eric Gordon's return to the second unit. Gerald Green will also see a reduction in minutes with Harden back in action, so those that picked up Green during the hot streak should start perusing the waiver wire for other options.

Stanley Johnson (hip) did not go through shootaround and he remains questionable to play Wednesday vs. the Raptors.

Johnson skipping shootaround isn't a great sign regarding his status for tonight's game, and we should get official confirmation on his status closer to tip-off. If he's out, Reggie Bullock will continue to flirt with minutes in the mid-30s.
Jan 17 - 1:21 PM

Avery Bradley (groin) and Luke Kennard (thumb) will try to play Wednesday vs. the Raptors.

Bradley and Kennard sat out Tuesday's practice, and it's concerning that this groin issue is flaring up again for Bradley after he missed seven games with the same issue in December. Both these guys appear to be headed for a game-time decision, and if they're out, Anthony Tolliver would likely slot back into the starting five and there would be more minutes available for Langston Galloway. Stay tuned.
Jan 17 - 1:15 PM

Tyler Johnson (ankle) will not play Wednesday vs. the Bucks, as expected.

"He is feeling better. We did not get an MRI, it is just an ankle sprain at this point," said head coach Erik Spoelstra of Johnson. "We will continue to treat and evaluate him." It'll be interesting to see who Miami brings into the starting five with Johnson out, but Wayne Ellington figures to be the primary beneficiary here in terms of minutes. Johnson doesn't appear to be dealing with anything serious, but he could also miss Friday's game in Brooklyn with it being the first of a back-to-back set.
Jan 17 - 1:01 PM

Larry Nance (right hip pointer) is probable to play Wednesday vs. Oklahoma City.

Nance tweaked his hip on Monday but was able to play through it, and it sounds like that's what he'll be doing tonight. Check back for official confirmation on his status closer to tip-off.
Jan 17 - 12:54 PM

Brandon Ingram (ankle) will return from a one-game absence on Wednesday vs. the Thunder.

Ingram practiced in full on Tuesday, and considering he only missed one game, he shouldn't be dealing with any sort of minutes limit tonight. His return to the court should shift Josh Hart back to the second unit, but with Lonzo Ball (knee) out, Hart's minutes might not take a significant hit. Ingram owners can feel free to get him active.
