Dirk Nowitzki (right adductor) will not play on Friday against the Suns.

Nowitzki was listed as doubtful coming into this one, so it's not really a surprise that he's out again on Friday. Look for O.J. Mayo, Vince Carter and Brandan Wright to be the biggest beneficiaries of Nowitzki's absence in fantasy leagues.

Mo Williams (back) has been upgraded to a game-time decision for Friday's game vs. Boston.

If Williams is able to suit up, he won't be able to play much more than 12 minutes, which simply isn't enough time to contribute in a meaningful why to the stat sheet. With Ricky Rubio nearing a return, Williams can be left on the wire in standard leagues.
Dec 19 - 11:47 AM

Dwyane Wade said that he's completely over his stomach virus.

The virus really didn't limit him too much at all, as he went off for a season-high 42 points during his last outing. Wade is going to be asked to carry Miami's offense while Chris Bosh (calf) is sidelined, and he remains an excellent option in daily leagues.
Dec 19 - 11:37 AM

Chris Bosh (calf) will not play Friday vs. the Wizards, and remains without a timetable to return.

Miami went with a starting frontcourt of Justin Hamilton and Chris Andersen during their last game with both Bosh and Josh McRoberts (knee) sidelined, but neither guy made a major impact on the boxscore. Andersen can be viewed as a shot-blocking specialist in deeper leagues, while Hamilton hasn't really been worth using. Shawne Williams and Udonis Haslem will see some increased opportunity, but both those guys have been struggling lately.
Dec 19 - 11:22 AM

Kevin Garnett will return from a one game absence (rest) and play Friday vs. the Cavs.

He'll likely start, which will send Mirza Teletovic back to the bench. Garnett is averaging 7.6 points and 8.5 rebounds, so he's not necessarily a must-start option on such a busy Friday night. Teletovic's value takes a hit with Garnett back in the lineup.
Dec 19 - 11:13 AM

Lance Stephenson (hip) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the 76ers, and he's being listed as doubtful for Saturday's game vs. the Jazz.

This is just a reminder to get Stephenson out of your lineups. Gerald Henderson, Gary Neal, and Michael Kidd Gilchrist will all be asked to step up with Stephenson sidelined in a favorable matchup vs. the 76ers. MKG and Neal offer the most upside, but neither is a lock for production.
Dec 19 - 11:03 AM

The Rockets, Clippers, Cavaliers, and Heat are all in pursuit of a trade that would net them Corey Brewer.

Flip Saunders is reportedly trying to get a first-rounder in exchange for Brewer, but for Brewer, none of these destinations can been seen as a positive from a fantasy perspective. It seems to be only a matter of time until he is dealt, so owners may want to try selling high. Shabazz Muhammad and Chase Budinger would be the primary beneficiaries if/when Brewer is sent elsewhere.
Dec 19 - 10:29 AM

Paul Pierce (sore right toe) is hopeful to play Friday vs. the Heat.

The Wizards are listing Pierce as questionable, so owners will need to check back for an official update closer to tip-off. If Pierce is unable to go, Otto Porter would likely get another start, but his limited upside makes him an unattractive option in standard and daily leagues. Rasual Butler went off for 23 points the last game that Pierce was sidelined, so he'd be the biggest beneficiary if Pierce is again unavailable. Stay tuned.
Dec 19 - 9:40 AM

Jimmy Butler stated during a recent interview that he sees himself as more of a role player than a star in the league.

"I don’t want be a star," said Butler. "I just want to be a decent role player on a really good team." While Butler may not be ready to admit it, he's emerging as a star in the league during his fourth NBA-season. Butler is hitting career-highs in points (21.5), rebounds (5.8), and assists (3.4), while shooting 48.6 percent from the field, and 81.4 percent from the charity stripe (on 8.2 attempts per game). He’s returning early-round value, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Marcus Smart (Achilles) returned to practice on Thursday, and is questionable to play Friday vs. the Timberwolves.

Smart removed himself from Tuesday's practice after not feeling healthy enough to continue, but his return to Thursday's practice is an encouraging sign. With Rajon Rondo now in Dallas, Smart should be owned in most leagues as he's set to be the main man at point guard in Boston. If Smart is unable to go Friday, expect Evan Turner and Jameer Nelson (if available) to see extended minutes at the point guard spot.

Dec 19 - 8:37 AM

DeMarcus Cousins said that there was no way he was going to accept the limited minutes, and ended up playing the entire fourth quarter of Thursday's game vs. the Bucks.

Cousins added that he'll be fine, so it appears owners can get back to plugging him into their lineups without hesitation every time he's active. He finished Thursday's game with a standard 27-point, 11-rebound Boogie outing, while playing 33 minutes.
Dec 19 - 8:26 AM

Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said late Thursday night that while Kevin Durant is dealing with just a minor ankle sprain, he's unsure of his status for Friday vs. the Lakers "and beyond."

X-rays on Durant's foot came back clean, but the "and beyond" part of that quote is concerning. The Thunder find themselves in a bit of a conundrum here, in that they need Durant to play to give the team a chance to compete for a playoff spot in the West, while there's also a need to handle their superstar with extreme care. Stay tuned for more updates, but if Durant is held out of Friday's game vs. the Lakers, Russell Westbrook will be primed for an explosion, while Perry Jones would be worth a spot-start.
