Bradley Beal reported improvement in his wrist and is optimistic that he'll be able to play on Friday.

Beal has missed five straight games with the wrist injury, but if he's healthy, Beal should return to being a productive piece for fantasy owners. Beal averaged 15.1 points, 0.9 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.1 3-pointers over 15 games in January before shutting it down.

The Bulls have experimented with Nikola Mirotic playing small forward.

It's an odd fit, but it's the best indication yet that the Bulls are looking to create more minutes for Mirotic. With 23 points, 13 rebounds and five three-pointers over his last two games, despite playing just 32 minutes combined, is a good indication of what he's capable of doing with extended production. Chicago is trying to find a way to get one of its best rotation players on the floor more often, and fantasy owners need to find a way to stash him on the roster.

Chris Bosh (calf) went through a full practice on Sunday without limitations, and he is questionable to face the Magic on Monday.

"He was able to go through all of it," Erik Spoelstra said. "First day of testing it," Bosh said. "We wanted to get days like these in before I get back out there." The Heat play Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, and it sounds like Bosh has a solid chance of being back this week if he doesn't return on Monday.

Jordan Hill finished Sunday's loss to the Suns with nine points on 3-of-11 shooting, a season-low one rebound, two assists, one steal, zero blocks and three turnovers in 22 minutes.

The Suns give up the fourth-most rebounds to their opponents (44.9) and this dud sums up a disappointing month for Hill. Thus far in December he's averaged 26.8 minutes, shot 45.9 percent from the field, averaged 6.6 rebounds, and scored double-digit points in seven out of 14 games. Those numbers are all way down from November but fantasy owners should hang tight in the expectation of a bounce-back in 2015.
Dec 29 - 12:43 AM

Kenneth Faried scored 17 points with 19 boards in Sunday's loss to the Raptors, adding two assists in 38 minutes.

He had 26 points with a career-high 25 rebounds on Friday, and it looks like he has officially turned things around. It is amazing what confidence can do for a player, as the Manimal looks completely reenergized after a disastrous start to the season. The buy-low window is now closed.
Dec 29 - 12:15 AM

Kobe Bryant (rest) returned to action on Sunday with 10 points (4-of-10 shooting), eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals and five turnovers in 32 minutes during the Lakers' 107-116 loss to the Suns.

The Black Mamba had missed three straight games to rest his fatigued body, and he spent most of Sunday's game looking for teammates rather than dominating the ball as he had during his first 24 games this season (attempting 22.4 shots per game). The Lakers have no playoff aspirations and they'll be cautious with him the rest of the season -- fantasy owners should plug him into all active lineups while routinely checking his status before games.
Dec 29 - 12:15 AM

Carmelo Anthony (knee) intends to play on Wednesday vs. the Clippers after saying that he normally feels better with a few days of rest.

We admire Melo's courage, but there is no reason for him to continue to labor through knee pain in a lost season for the Knicks -- he said his knee feels "heavy, and weak and fatigued." His owners may want to trade him while they still can, as the possibility of him shutting it down is still looming despite Melo saying that he is not ready to do that. Check back for further updates, and expect Travis Wear, Quincy Acy, and Tim Hardaway Jr. to all see a boost if Melo sits.
Dec 29 - 12:04 AM

Lou Williams scored 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting in a win over the Nuggets on Saturday, adding five boards, two assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

He broke out of his slump in a big way, and was unstoppable all game long. Williams has been an obvious candidate for Sixth Man of the Year, and he should continue to be owned in standard leagues for his ability to contribute in 3-pointers, points, assists, and steals.
Dec 29 - 12:00 AM

Jonas Valanciunas played just 17 minutes in Sunday's win over the Nuggets, finishing with seven points, six boards and one steal.

He had a long night and even received a flagrant 1 for elbowing Nuggets center Jusuf Nurkic. Valanciunas deserves a pass for this performance after dropping 22 points and 11 boards vs. the Clippers on Saturday, and he should bounce-back against Portland on Tuesday.
Dec 28 - 11:44 PM

Kyle Lowry erupted for 30 points and 11 assists in a win over the Nuggets on Sunday, adding seven boards, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers in 38 minutes.

It was his ninth double-double of the season, and it was also the fourth time in his career that he scored 30 points with 10 or more assists. Lowry has been a beast this season and should be in the MVP race considering the Raptors are sitting in first place in the Eastern Conference without star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan.
Dec 28 - 11:37 PM

Wesley Matthews tied his season-high with 28 points in Sunday's win vs. the Knicks, making 10-of-21 field goals including a 6-of-15 mark from beyond the arc.

Matthews leads the NBA in 3-pointers made, having overtaken Kyle Korver, and his proficiency from the perimeter is the key to his top-50 fantasy appeal. The Knicks allow the third-most 3-pointers to their opponents this season (9.0 per game) and they are devastated by injuries, so it was no surprise to watch Matthews and his Blazers teammates tee off against them on Sunday.
Dec 28 - 11:36 PM

Nicolas Batum made 6-of-8 shots with five 3-pointers on Sunday, finishing with a season-high 17 points, one rebound, three assists, one steal and one block in only 28 minutes.

The fact that this was Batum's season-high in scoring is a testament to his struggles, as he's averaging the lowest numbers since his rookie season in points (8.8), 3-pointers (1.0), field goal percentage (38.9 percent) and Player Efficiency Rating (12.3). Batum's top-20 fantasy upside makes him an interesting buy-low candidate despite his early-season struggles.
