Latest Headlines

Mark Jackson does not expect Jarrett Jack (shoulder) to play on Friday.

Jack did not play on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday, so it doesn't sound like he'll suit up on Friday. If he sits again, Stephen Curry will see more minutes with Charles Jenkins and Harrison Barnes also possibly getting into the mix.

The Pelicans will start Tim Frazier, Buddy Hield, Solomon Hill, Anthony Davis and Alexis Ajinca against the 76ers on Thursday.

With Jrue Holiday (toe) out, expect to see plenty of Frazier tonight. Langston Galloway still has plenty of upside, especially if he gets hot. Frazier is a borderline property in standard leagues.
Dec 8 - 7:19 PM

Moe Harkless (ankle) will not play against the Grizzlies on Thursday.

His ankle is still swollen and his pre-game workout did not go well. Harkless suffered the injury on Wednesday and didn't play in the final 31 seconds. For tonight, expect to see Allen Crabbe in the starting lineup while Evan Turner gets a bump. Maybe coach Terry Stotts goes with a little Jake Layman to boost the bench, too.
Dec 8 - 7:08 PM

Robert Covington (knee) is back in the starting lineup to face the Pelicans on Thursday.

He doesn't have a minutes limit, but the 76ers will monitor his playing time. Covington joins Sergio Rodriguez, Gerald Henderson, Ersan Ilyasova and Joel Embiid in the first unit. Despite his awful shooting, he should be owned in standard leagues.
Dec 8 - 6:44 PM

The Nuggets will start Jameer Nelson, Will Barton, Danilo Gallinari, Darrell Arthur and Jusuf Nurkic against the Wizards on Thursday.

Nurkic has been really bad, especially on the defensive side of things. Expect coach Mike Malone to keep Nurkic on a very short leash tonight. If he gives up 3-pointers on 1-5 or 2-5 pick-and-roll plays, it might be it for him tonight. Nikola Jokic should still get most of the minutes and is trending up big time.
Dec 8 - 6:35 PM

E'Twaun Moore (toe) will not play on Thursday against the 76ers.

That's his second straight DNP. With Moore out, Buddy Hield should get more run at shooting guard while Langston Galloway and Tim Frazier could run some two-guard combos. Plus, this should help Solomon Hill pick up extra run at the three to help offset the loss of wing depth.
Dec 8 - 6:30 PM

Jrue Holiday (toe) will not play against the 76ers on Thursday.

No revenge game for Jrue against his former team. Holiday's turf toe injury can linger, so the Pelicans will play it safe. His injury history also may have factored into this because compensating could lead to another injury. With Jrue out, Tim Frazier should start while Langston Galloway gets additional run at the point. Buddy Hield should pick up extra minutes, as well.
Dec 8 - 6:30 PM

Darrell Arthur will start and Kenneth Faried will move to the bench against the Wizards on Thursday.

This move was fully expected after coach Mike Malone benched Faried to start the second half on Wednesday. Malone likes Arthur for his defense, so that will be a big reason why he's in the mix. Arthur is a bit of a hit-or-miss option, but he could have a good game in a solid matchup. He has value in 16-team leagues.
Dec 8 - 6:25 PM

Emmanuel Mudiay (right ankle sprain) will not play against the Wizards on Thursday night.

Wow. Mudiay did not appear to be hurt on Wednesday and was benched after just 18 minutes of action. This is one of those head-scratching injuries and comes just after coach Mike Malone said a lineup change could be coming. He also wasn't on the injury report this morning. Mudiay is a drop candidate in nine-category leagues. With him out, Jameer Nelson gets a massive boost while Jamal Murray should play some point guard minutes.
Dec 8 - 5:46 PM

DeMarre Carroll will play against the Wolves on Thursday and will rest against the Celtics on Friday.

The Raptors are still being careful with Carroll, but coach Dwane Casey said the back-to-back limit will drop "hopefully soon." His minutes have been trending up with 27.1 minutes per game in his last eight and he's also made 50.0 percent from the field in that span. Carroll is worth owning in standard leagues right now.
Dec 8 - 5:28 PM

Isaiah Thomas (groin) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Raptors.

Coach Brad Stevens called Thomas' groin strain "unpredictable" on Wednesday and Thomas even had a PRP injection, so seeing Thomas ruled out a day ahead of Friday's game makes sense. Marcus Smart was terrific in his start on Wednesday with 13 points while Terry Rozier turned in arguably his best game with 16 points. Jaylen Brown also saw an uptick in playing time sans Thomas.
Dec 8 - 4:33 PM

Marc Gasol (right groin) is questionable for Thursday against the Blazers.

This is a new injury for Gasol. He played a whopping 80 minutes combined on Monday and Tuesday, which is by far the most he's played in a back-to-back set. Gasol did play down the stretch on Tuesday night and didn't appear to be hurt. That said, the Grizzlies could choose to be careful with their best player even though they're not on a back-to-back set tonight. If he's out, Zach Randolph and Jarell Martin figure to pick up extra run. JaMychal Green's upside also goes up here.
