Chase Budinger (knee surgery) has started taking jump shots and doing lateral movement.

Budinger is scheduled to see a doctor Wednesday to determine a timetable for his return. Wolves GM David Kahn said he expects Budinger to return "in March, but not in early March." When he does return, Budinger is more of a boost to the Wolves than fantasy owners. You can safely monitor him from the waiver wire.

Willy Hernangomez will start at center on Thursday vs. the Cavaliers.

Joakim Noah tweaked his hamstring right before the break and will probably miss extended time. The rookie looks like a great pickup and is averaging 11.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 block and 1.7 steals in three previous starts this season. His rest-of-season outlook is very promising, especially if the Knicks are sellers at the deadline.

Joakim Noah (left hamstring) will not play on Thursday vs. the Cavaliers.

This will be the sixth game in a row on the shelf for the oft-injured big man as he tweaked his hamstring again right before the All-Star break. Based on his history, don't expect him back soon. Willy Hernangomez will draw the start according to coach Jeff Hornacek and looks like a great pickup in standard leagues. Kyle O'Quinn also gets a nice bump.
Feb 21 - 8:04 PM

The Rockets will send Corey Brewer and a first-round pick to the Lakers in exchange for Lou Williams.

The Lakers are clearly rebuilding and probably have no use for Brewer, as this trade was all about securing another first-round pick. If Brewer isn't waived by the Lakers, he will provide some depth off the bench behind Brandon Ingram. He's shooting 23.4 percent from deep this season and is not a fantasy pickup. With Williams gone, it makes sense for fantasy owners to add Jordan Clarkson. D'Angelo Russell will also get a nice bump.

The Lakers are sending Lou Williams to the Rockets in exchange for Corey Brewer and a first-round pick.

He was fully expected to be moved before the deadline with several teams expressing interest. Williams will have the green light in Houston and the Rockets attempt the most 3-pointers in the NBA, so while his value will take a hit next to usage monster James Harden, standard-league owners should hold onto him for now. He averaged 18.6 points, 3.2 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 2.1 triples in just 24.2 minutes per game with the Lakers, so hopefully the Rockets give him 20+ minutes a night. Don't be surprised if Eric Gordon and Patrick Beverley take a slight hit.
Feb 21 - 7:43 PM

Courtney Lee (illness) and Joakim Noah (left hamstring) did not practice on Tuesday.

Noah missed the last five games before the break, so it's a concern that he's not 100 percent yet. The Knicks could be sellers at the trade deadline and Noah's outlook would take a hit if they started rebuilding, so he belongs on the wire in most leagues. Kyle O'Quinn and Willy Hernangomez benefit every time Noah sits, but Hernangomez has the better outlook.

The Lakers are reportedly closing in on a multi-year deal with agent Rob Pelinka to install him as Los Angeles' next GM.

The agent-to-GM move worked out pretty well for the Warriors, so the Lakers will try and replicate that success by bringing in Pelinka, who is a well-respected agent around the league. He still needs to divest from his agency, so it could take a couple days before this thing becomes official.
Feb 21 - 6:51 PM

Updating a previous report, Mike D'Antoni confirmed that Patrick Beverley (groin) will play Thursday vs. the Pelicans.

Beverley suffered a minor groin injury that forced him out of the final game heading into the All-Star break, but he practiced in full on Tuesday and he'll be back in action on Thursday night.
Feb 21 - 6:39 PM

C.J. Watson (sore right Achilles) was not able to practice on Tuesday and he's expected to undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

This is concerning given that Watson had the entire All-Star break to rest up, but we'll wait for the MRI results before making any speculation on a timetable. Orlando's first game after the break comes Thursday vs. Portland, and if Watson can't give it a go, we could see Elfrid Payton back in the starting five with D.J. Augustin logging extended minutes off the bench. Stay tuned.
Feb 21 - 6:16 PM

Mike D'Antoni said that Patrick Beverley (groin) is "fine" and he expects him to be good to go for Thursday's game against the Pelicans.

Beverley suffered the minor groin strain during Houston's final game heading into the break, but he's had plenty of time to rest up and his owners can plan on having him available on Thursday night. Check back for another update following Thursday morning's shootaround.
Feb 21 - 6:09 PM

Tom Thibodeau is reportedly making a push to strike a deal for Derrick Rose.

Thibs reported infatuation with Rose is a bit strange, but it does sound like a three-way trade between New York, Minnesota and Detroit involving Rose, Ricky Rubio and Reggie Jackson is brewing. This is a situation we'll be monitoring closely as the deadline approaches.
Feb 21 - 6:02 PM

The Hornets are reportedly "aggressively pursuing" Lou Williams.

The Hornets are lacking a real scoring punch off the bench, so it'll be interesting to see if Magic Johnson's first trade as the Lakers' President of Basketball Operations ends up being with a team owned by Michael Jordan. Williams wouldn't have much trouble finding quality minutes in Charlotte, so his value would be relatively safe there. Thus far, Williams has been linked to the Hornets, Wizards, Jazz, Rockets and Pelicans, and it seems likely that he'll be dealt at the deadline.
