Updating a previous report, Jarrett Jack (bruised shoulder) will not play on Saturday.

Jack said that his shoulder is improving but he's still not ready for game action, and could only have served as a perimeter decoy. "I can shoot if they wanna put me in for that," he said. He'll have two days of rest before the Warriors play on Tuesday, their only remaining game before the All-Star break.

Will Barton (right ankle) said he's "fine" and that he will not have any minutes restrictions in Wednesday's season opener against Utah.

Barton suffered what appeared to be a severe ankle sprain at the end of Monday's practice, but head coach Mike Malone confirmed that he's been cleared to play, so it looks like he's dodged a bullet and owners can plan on having him take the floor for opening night. He looked great during the preseason, so it'll be interesting to see if he can carry that momentum into the regular season.

James Ennis and Andrew Harrison will be in the starting lineup for Memphis on Wednesday.

Ennis played very well through the preseason, securing his spot in the starting five, so it looks like the starting small forward position is his to lose. Harrison is more of a fill-in starter with Wayne Selden (quad) and Ben McLemore (foot) banged up, and while both these guys see a minor uptick in value as starter, neither one should be expected to command much fantasy value. Joining them in the starting five will be Mike Conley, JaMychal Green and Marc Gasol.

Dwane Casey implied that C.J. Miles will be coming off the bench in Toronto's season opener against Chicago on Thursday.

Casey said that Miles has "done a great job as a bench leader," which would strongly suggest that Norman Powell will open the year as Toronto's starting three-man. Miles could be considered a 3-point specialist in deep leagues, but Powell is the guy you want to target in 12-team settings.
Oct 17 - 2:28 PM

Mike Budenholzer confirmed that Taurean Prince will be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against the Mavericks.

Joining Prince in the starting five will be Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Ersan Ilyasova and Dwayne Dedmon. Prince looked great through the preseason, and he's all set up for a career-year as the unquestioned starting small forward in Atlanta. Don't hesitate to get him active for Week 1.

Chris Paul (knee, shoulder) confirmed after shootaround that he'll be on the court for Houston's season opener against Golden State on Tuesday.

"It's cool," Paul said of his knee, "7:30, I'll be there." The Rockets took it easy on the 32-year-old veteran through the preseason, but with the games actually meaning something now, CP3 will see his usual starter minutes tonight san restrictions. Feel free to fire him up.

Joel Embiid said that he believes he'll play approximately 16 minutes vs. the Wizards on Wednesday night.

Embiid was upset when he was informed of coach Brett Brown's plan to keep him on a minute restriction "in the teens." Embiid told reporters after practice on Tuesday that he thought he would be playing at least 24 mins on opening night, based on how he felt in the preseason. "They know that I'm frustrated, but once again you've got to trust the doctors," said Embiid. "They care about me. It's all about the long-term view."
Oct 17 - 1:56 PM

Coach Alvin Gentry said that he expects Tony Allen (ankle) to play Wednesday vs. Memphis.

Allen did not play in the Pelicans preseason finale last Friday due to soreness in his ankle. Even when Allen is fully healthy, the Pelicans will limit his minutes in hopes of keeping the 35-year old fresh for the full season. Allen only has value as a steals specialist in deep leagues.
Oct 17 - 1:32 PM

Frank Ntilikina (bruised right knee) has been cleared for contact and scrimmaged on Tuesday and is "on track" to play Thursday vs. OKC.

The Knicks have been understandably cautious with their teenage rookie in the preseason. Ntilikina missed the Knicks final four exhibition contests after bruising his right knee earlier this month. However, it appears he'll be ready to roll on opening night. He will likely split minutes with Ron Baker backing up starting point guard Ramon Sessions. Don't expect much from Ntilikina early in the season, as his playing time will likely be limited.

LeBron James (ankle) participated in shootaround but will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's season opener vs. the Celtics.

LeBron obviously wants to suit up for the much-anticipated matchup with Kyrie Irving and the Celtics; however, the Cavs also understand this is just one of 82 games. Still, the fact that LeBron was able to practice on Monday and shoot around with the team Tuesday morning are encouraging signs. We should have confirmation, one way or the other, about 90 minutes before tip-off.
Oct 17 - 11:22 AM

The Celtics will start Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Al Horford against Cleveland on Tuesday.

With Marcus Morris (knee) sidelined for the first week of the season, Tatum has a chance to prove he's ready to contribute right away as a rookie. After a very impressive showing during summer league, Tatum averaged 8.2 points (on 37.1 percent shooting), 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 25.1 minutes during the preseason. He'll likely experience ups and down over his first few games as a pro, but he is a gifted offensive player capable of putting up points. He's worth consideration as an affordable DFS option on Tuesday.
Oct 17 - 11:18 AM

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Nuggets will likely waive Jameer Nelson.

They need the roster spot to sign Richard Jefferson, and this suggests that the Nuggets are confident in Jamal Murray as their starting PG and Emmanuel Mudiay as his backup. Once waived, the 35-year-old Nelson shouldn't have much trouble finding work and will probably be looking to join a contender.
