Isaiah Thomas shot 4-of-10 from the field and made all 13 free throws for 23 points with one rebound, six assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes against the Rockets on Sunday.

He had a great finish and put the team on his back with 17 points in the fourth quarter. Thomas is coming off a 25-point game on Saturday and it looks like Keith Smart has finally realized he's the team's best ball handler. Thomas is the toast of the town right now and should he starting in all leagues.

Gordon Hayward has officially been diagnosed with a dislocated and fractured left tibia and he will undergo surgery "very soon."

Head coach Brad Stevens wouldn't speculate if this will be a season-ending injury for Hayward, but we should have an official timetable once he goes under the knife. Marcus Smart will move into the starting five with Hayward on the sidelines, and there will be more minutes for guys like Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Morris and Terry Rozier, while Kyrie Irving will be tasked with the heavy lifting on offense. Hayward is cut-candidate in leagues without an IR-spot.

Zach Randolph (oral surgery) will not play against the Rockets on Wednesday.

Coach Dave Joerger won't have his old Memphis big man shooting 3-pointers in this opener. With Randolph out, Willie Cauley-Stein could play slightly more while Skal Labissiere, Georgios Papagiannis and Kosta Koufos could step up.
Oct 18 - 5:55 PM

Marcus Smart will move into the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Bucks.

Smart started the second half on Tuesday and finished with 12 points, nine boards, three dimes, two steals, two blocks and two turnovers in 35 minutes, and he should remain in the starting five for however long Gordon Hayward (ankle) is sidelined. The shooting percentages won't be pretty, but Smart will bring enough stats to the boxscore to warrant ownership in most leagues.
Oct 18 - 5:50 PM

Kenny Atkinson said he's going to be "cautious" with increasing Allen Crabbe's minutes because of how much time he missed during the preseason.

Crabbe missed a lot of training camp and the preseason due to a sprained ankle, so the Nets are going to ease him into things. He's made it clear that his preference would be to start, but for now, it looks like DeMarre Carroll is locked in as the starting small forward. Crabbe could eventually usurp Carroll for that starting spot, but regardless of how he enters the game, he figures to be a fixture in the rotation and should be a solid source of points and triples this season.
Oct 18 - 5:49 PM

Jeremy Lin, D'Angelo Russell, DeMarre Carroll, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Timofey Mozgov will start against the Pacers on Wednesday.

It's the lineup they've used in the preseason, so no surprises here. The Nets were also extremely fast in the preseason, so they may actually be faster than their first-ranked pace last year. Carroll should get minutes at both forward spots, but most fantasy owners can take a wait and see approach.
Oct 18 - 5:42 PM

Dwayne Bacon will start against the Pistons on Wednesday.

He'll join Kemba Walker, Jeremy Lamb, Marvin Williams and Dwight Howard in the first unit. Bacon was very busy in the preseason with minutes in the mid 30s, so he could get over 30 in this game. Coach Steve Clifford is probably going to use Lamb, Williams, Malik Monk and Frank Kaminsky at multiple positions, so Bacon may not get normal starting minutes. He's a risky DFS play.
Oct 18 - 5:40 PM

Scott Brooks has confirmed that Jason Smith will start at power forward for Wednesday's matchup with the 76ers.

Joining Smith in the starting five tonight will be John Wall, Bradley Beal, Otto Porter and Marcin Gortat. As a starter last season, Smith compiled averages of 12.3 points, 3.8 boards and 2.0 treys per contest, so while he might be starting for Washington until Markieff Morris (hernia) get back, he's not the most attractive grab in 12-team settings.
Oct 18 - 5:21 PM

Elfrid Payton, Terrence Ross, Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic will start against the Heat on Wednesday.

Ross has been expected to start for most of the day despite an injured hamstring and Jonathon Simmons going off late in the preseason. Ross could find himself getting minutes at both wing spots, but it'll definitely be worth watching to see if Simmons can push him for the lion's share of minutes.
Oct 18 - 5:20 PM

Nuggets waive G Jameer Nelson.

This move has been expected since Monday with the Nuggets adding Richard Jefferson. Nelson will clear waivers on Friday and he will likely sign with another team after a strong finish to last season. With him gone, this means Emmanuel Mudiay and Jamal Murray will have secure minutes at the point and could even play some shooting guard.
Oct 18 - 5:08 PM

Coach Doc Rivers said he wants to use Blake Griffin at the five "a lot" during the season.

Rivers said the Clippers haven't gone with that look too much during the preseason, and they worked on that group at practice on Wednesday. He also said he likes how the Clippers can go small against certain teams, and they didn't really have that luxury last year. Whatever the case, Griffin is set for a monster year as long as he can stay healthy.
Oct 18 - 4:06 PM

Julius Randle (ribs) is probable to play against the Clippers on Thursday.

He went through a full practice on Wednesday, so the Lakers should have him out there for their season opener. Randle may actually be coming off the bench regardless because it sounds like Larry Nance Jr. has the inside track. That's not a bad thing and it's possible this move could help him play more minutes at the five.
