Sources tell Fox Sports that the Raptors have "engaged" the Sixers in trade talks centered on Andrea Bargnani.

The Raptors continue to talk about Bargnani with anyone that will listen. They'd likely be asking for Spencer Hawes and some change, a deal the offensively-challenged Sixers might have to listen to. If they ever get Andrew Bynum (knee) back, having a true stretch four like Bargnani could conceivably be a good fit. We're sure to hear plenty of more Bargnani rumors as Thursday's deadline approaches.

JaVale McGee (leg) could make his preseason debut on Tuesday vs. Portland, or on Friday vs. Golden State.

McGee has been going through full practices, and the team wants him to get some action before the regular season begins. However, McGee appears to have lost his starting job to Timofey Mozgov, and although he has plenty of upside, his bonehead decision-making often leads to him spending extended minutes on the bench. The Nuggets signed McGee to a huge four-year deal worth $44 million back in 2012, which could pressure head coach Brian Shaw to give the big man minutes. However, due to McGee's tendency to find himself sitting on the bench, partnered with the fact he'll likely be entering the 2014-15 season in a reserve role, he's not worth much more than a late-round flier in standard leagues.

According to head coach Brad Stevens, Rajon Rondo is "progressing great" from his broken hand, and there's a possibility he's able to suit up on opening night.

Rondo didn't want to put an official date on his return, but he did say that his hand hasn't been bothering him. "When I dribble the ball, when I catch the ball, it doesn’t bother me," said Rondo. "But it’s night and day from trying to brace myself hitting the floor, and going into the lane and somebody smacking my hand." Rondo has yet to do any contact work, but there's a possibility he's cleared for that by the end of the week. Boston is going to be very careful with Rondo's recovery, but it's looking like he's making great progress, and even if he's not able to go for opening night, he could return within the first week of the regular season. Stay tuned.
Oct 20 - 2:15 PM

Rajon Rondo (hand) said on Monday that he hasn't had any contact in practice yet.

He said he doesn't know if he'll be ready for the opener and he doesn't "wanna put any set goals." Rondo had been very optimistic before this quote, so chances are he'll likely miss at least a week of the regular season. He wasn't very good last year in reality with the Celtics only going 6-24 with Rondo and his value in fantasy has taken a hit, as well. Fantasy owners should let someone else deal with him.
Oct 20 - 12:18 PM

Nerlens Noel (illness) will not play against the Nets on Monday night.

Coach Brett Brown said that he's not concerned about Noel missing time because the rookie has been practicing. Noel has been out since Oct. 15 and has missed three games, but he should be ready for the season opener. Fantasy owners can target him in the middle rounds. Arnett Moultrie has stepped it up while Noel has been out.
Oct 20 - 12:08 PM

Brandon Knight (groin) and Zaza Pachulia (hamstring) will not play against the Knicks on Monday.

Knight has been out for over a week now with his strained right groin, but there's still hope for him to play in the season opener. Kendall Marshall hasn't played well sans Knight and is shooting just 4-of-15 in his last three games, so Knight still looks like the favorite to start at point guard. Knight is only a late-round target due to a lower upside.
Oct 20 - 11:59 AM

Anderson Varejao will start at center against the Bulls on Monday.

Tristan Thompson is coming off the bench tonight. Over the weekend, coach David Blatt said he was going to treat this game like a regular season contest, so this is a telling development if what he said was true. Varejao is hurt quite a bit, but he does offer higher upside than Thompson.
Oct 20 - 11:38 AM

David West (ankle) will have an MRI on his ankle on Monday.

His ankle sprain looked awful on Saturday, but he didn't break it because X-rays were negative. West is likely out for the rest of the preseason and he could be in jeopardy of missing some regular season action. Luis Scola is going to start, but Chris Copeland is probably the preferred target in a vacuum because of his output in 3-pointers and higher upside.

Jeff Taylor's pre-trial hearing on charges including domestic assault has been moved to Oct. 29, the same day the Hornets play their season opener.

Taylor has been barred from team activities since charges were filed and he may face a suspension from the league if he admits guilt or is found guilty during the legal process.

Carlos Boozer tied his career-high with six steals during Sunday's exhibition win, adding 19 points, nine rebounds and one block in 28 minutes vs. the Lakers.

Boozer made 6-of-12 FGs and 7-of-7 FTs, taking full advantage of Enes Kanter's defensive limitations. He looks determined to hold off rookie Julius Randle for the starting PF job and shouldn't have much trouble early in the season. Just keep in mind that once the losses mount coach Byron Scott may cede to reality and unleash Randle to Boozer's detriment.
Oct 20 - 12:19 AM

Nemanja Nedovic made the most of a start at PG on Sunday, scoring 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting with one rebound, five assists and two turnovers on the road vs. the Rockets.

Nedovic's offseason toe injury hasn't bothered him this preseason but his fantasy value is nil considering the Warriors' backcourt depth. He's likely to spend the 2014-15 season flitting between the Warriors' bench and the D-League's Santa Cruz Warriors.
Oct 19 - 10:59 PM

Kirk Hinrich caught fire in 32 minutes off Chicago's bench on Sunday, scoring 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting with two 3-pointers.

Captain Kirk added two assists, one steal and zero turnovers to round out a phenomenal evening, but he's a marginal fantasy player with Derrick Rose healthy and Aaron Brooks soaking up backup PG minutes. As a point of reference, Hinrich didn't score 20 points in a single game last year, even though he started 61 games. You've gotta love the preseason.
