Coach Frank Vogel was non-committal about Danny Granger's (knee) season debut, saying that he won't play him until he is "100 percent ready"

The Pacers don't play until Wednesday and it's interesting to see the team holding Granger out since he was expected to debut this past Wednesday. Trade rumors surrounding Granger have cooled, and this might be a case of the team keeping Granger out just in case somebody makes them an offer they can't refuse. That or his knee isn't as far along as everybody hoped.

Blake Griffin scored 29 points with 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and three 3-pointers in 34 minutes against the Lakers during a 108-92 victory on Thursday.

Sure, this does come with a Staples-size grain of salt against the Lakers, but Griffin looked great in the post Chris Paul era. He had a 112 pace for his minutes out there and he attempted six shots from deep as the offensive focal point. Coach Doc Rivers has given plenty of indications he wants Griffin to grow even more, including playing him at the five "a lot." If he can stay healthy and make free throws, he's set for a magnificent season.
Oct 20 - 2:36 AM

DeAndre Jordan scored 14 points with 24 rebounds, one assist and one steal in 32 minutes against the Lakers on Thursday.

The best part is he made all four from the line. You could call this his most dominant rebounding game of his career. In his five other games with more than 24 boards, he ranged from 25-27 in total boards while his minutes were much higher in the 39-41 range. Part of the reason is that the Clippers were flying in pace today, which could still be partly due to the Lakers. Regardless, Jordan is a lock to be a top-three rebounder and he could even score more, too.
Oct 20 - 2:28 AM

Milos Teodosic got the start in his first NBA game on Thursday, scoring six points with one rebound, six assists and two 3-pointers in 21 minutes against the Lakers.

While he didn't shoot the ball well with a 2-of-9 line from the field, he was in control of this offense. Impressively, the Clippers ran at a 114 pace while Milos played and he did take six shots from deep -- he shot the ball well overseas, too. Teodosic should be owned in all standard leagues.
Oct 20 - 2:19 AM

Lonzo Ball made 1-of-6 from the field for three points with nine rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes during a 108-92 loss to the Clippers on Thursday.

He got a heavy dose of Patrick Beverley and it did not go well. Per ESPN's stats, Ball went 0-of-2 from the field on the 29 plays that Beverley guarded him, and he had three assist opportunities. Even in a blowout, it's also somewhat interesting that Ball sat out the whole fourth quarter. Perhaps this had to do with his ankle injury, but there's been no talk of that after the game. After getting a tough matchup tonight, he gets an easy matchup against the Suns on Friday. We'll see how he does there.
Oct 20 - 1:50 AM

Larry Nance Jr. scored 14 points with 12 rebounds and one block in 30 minutes against the Clippers on Thursday.

Brook Lopez has said he meshes well with Nance and coach Luke Walton said he wants a power forward that can play well with Lonzo Ball, so it's looking good for Nance to keep his starting job. Nance had all seven of his makes come from within three feet with five dunks, so he should do very well on efficiency. Nance should be owned in all standard leagues.
Oct 20 - 1:44 AM

Brook Lopez scored 20 points with six rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes against the Clippers on Thursday.

He is arguably the best player on the Lakers and he's basically in the same role as he was in Brooklyn with five attempts from deep tonight. Lopez should play minutes around 30 most nights and he should be able to flirt with early-round value as long as he's on the court.
Oct 20 - 1:40 AM

Russell Westbrook triple-doubled during a 105-84 win over the Knicks on Thursday, making 7-of-12 from the field for 21 points, 10 rebounds, 16 assists, one block and seven turnovers in 33 minutes.

He had some help and his NBA all-time record 40.8 usage rate from 2016-17 plummeted to 27.8 today. Although, his efficiency was outstanding and the OKC offense was flying at a 107.5 pace. Also unlike last year, he had help almost the entire time with either Carmelo Anthony or Paul George next to him for 32 of his 33 minutes, and was with both for 19. Westbrook won't be blowing us away in the scoring department like late last year, but he's still going to post some big lines for his fantasy owners.
Oct 20 - 12:57 AM

Paul George scored 28 points with six rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and six 3-pointersin 39 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday.

As expected, he fired away from deep with 13 attempts from beyond the arc and he even had a 27.6 usage rate in this game -- 29.0 last year. If you're wondering how the staggering worked, PG played 28 minutes with Carmelo Anthony, 30 with Russell Westbrook, 19 with both, and didn't log any time without either of them. George could be a darkhorse to be a top-five player in 3-pointers and may only take a small hit in fantasy compared to last year.
Oct 20 - 12:50 AM

Carmelo Anthony made 8-of-20 from the field for 22 points with one rebound, one assist, two steals, two blocks and three 3-pointers in 34 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday.

While the efficiency wasn't there, Melo was still able to get to a 30.4 usage rate in this game. He actually wasn't staggered too much with 28 total minutes next to Paul George, 22 total minutes next to Russell Westbrook, and just 2.8 minutes with neither of them. It's going to be awfully tough to flirt with a 30 usage rate and maybe going against the Knicks helped, but for now Melo's fantasy owners should be satisfied.
Oct 20 - 12:43 AM

Kristaps Porzingis scored 31 points during a 105-84 loss to the Thunder on Thursday, adding 12 rebounds, one assist, one block and two 3-pointers.

He'll probably have to get used to these bad losses and he was busy with his 11-of-25 shooting line. Porzingis said his goals this year are to make the playoffs, win Defensive Player of the Year, win Most Improved Player and make the All-Star team. He probably has no shot at one of those and it'll be really tough for him to get to three of those goals because the Knicks defense is going to be a mess, but KP could have strong enough numbers to be a monster Unicorn this year.
Oct 20 - 12:12 AM

Frank Ntilikina failed to score in his NBA debut against the Thunder on Thursday, adding one assist, one turnover and two fouls in eight minutes.

He didn't check in until the second quarter and is behind Ramon Sessions and Ron Baker. Hey, there's a gigantic billboard near Madison Square Garden with Ntilikina on it, so why not put Sessions and Baker ahead of him on the depth chart? Kidding aside, his knee injury in the preseason has probably stagnated his growth, so it's only a matter of time before he gets double-digit minutes. It could take a long time and he's likely going to be extremely raw, so it's no lock he has fantasy value this season.
