Kendrick Perkins (sprained knee) will not play on Wednesday.

Perkins sprained the knee in Tuesday's practice and will not play against the Rockets on Wednesday as a result. It's unclear who will start in his place, but Nick Collison is a candidate.

Blake Griffin continues to be the best player in the playoffs and had 34 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block on 13-of-23 shooting in Wednesday's Game 2 loss to the Rockets.

Griffin couldn't do much more and the Clippers are thrilled with a split in Houston, without Chris Paul. He was coming off five straight games with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and two straight triple-doubles, and while he didn't match those numbers tonight, the 34 points were a playoff high for this season.

James Harden hit 7-of-17 shots, 3-of-10 3-pointers and 15-of-15 free throws for 32 points, three rebounds, seven assists, a steal, a block and seven turnovers in Wednesday's home win in Game 2 against the Clippers, evening the series at 1-1.

The Rockets shot just 66 percent from the free throw line, and it would have been disastrous had Harden not knocked down his freebies. The Rockets got a must-win tonight, but are still in a bit of a hole to the Clippers, especially with Chris Paul possibly returning for Game 3. Harden, as usual, is a must-start/use player in all fantasy formats as long as he's in Houston's lineup. The Rockets attempted 64 free throws (making 42 of them), which is the highest number of attempts since 1993. They were also just two off the playoff record of 66 attempts, which was set in 1968.

LeBron James kept his word of being aggressive during a 106-91 Game 2 victory against the Bulls on Wednesday, scoring 33 points with eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, one block and two turnovers.

He relentlessly attacked the basket and the Bulls were late with help defense all night. The Cavs used him in the post more on both ends and the Bulls big men had some trouble with him. It took a game for LeBron to figure out how to beat the Bulls, but now he has the upper hand with the series tied 1-1. Most importantly, LeBron said in his post-game interview that his headband is a game-time decision for Friday.
May 6 - 9:56 PM

Kyrie Irving scored 21 points on 5-of-9 from the field and 10-of-12 from the line during a Game 2 in against the Bulls on Wednesday, adding three assists, two steals and one 3-pointer.

He said he was tired in the fourth quarter on Monday, but that didn't seem to be the case tonight. Irving didn't settle for jumpers while keeping Derrick Rose in front of him on D. Irving's season seems to be overshadowed by LeBron James, but the Cavs will need him to have a strong finish if they want a title.
May 6 - 9:53 PM

Iman Shumpert did return from a groin injury and left the game early again on Wednesday against the Bulls, finishing with 15 points, seven rebounds, one assist, three steals and four 3-pointers in 29 minutes.

It was a surprise to see the Cavs bring him back into the game despite the team being up big in the fourth. Shumpert returned to the locker room about 10 minutes before his teammates in real time and perhaps it was just to get a jump on some treatment. With J.R. Smith set to return on Friday, Shumpert isn't going to be as important to the rotation. Still, he deserves some credit for his play tonight. Check back for an update tomorrow.
May 6 - 9:48 PM

Derrick Rose made 6-of-20 from the field for 14 points against the Cavs during a 106-91 loss in Game 2 on Wednesday, adding seven rebounds, 10 assists, one block and two 3-pointers.

He still hasn't been to the line in this series while Kyrie Irving has been there 21 times. Coach Tom Thibodeau addressed this after the game. "I guess he's gotta go harder," Thibodeau said. "Looks like there's a lot of contact to me." Rose continues to play poorly on one day of rest while he's been very good in each of the four games with more than one day off. Unfortunately for the Bulls, Game 3 is on Friday, so Rose will need to figure out how to buck this trend.
May 6 - 9:46 PM

Iman Shumpert suffered a left groin strain in the third quarter on Wednesday and is probable to return.

This is almost shocking to hear Shumpert is fine. Based on some lip reading, it looked like Shumpert said he felt something "pop" in his upper leg. Also, the TNT broadcast reported that owner Dan Gilbert and general manager David Griffin went back to the locker room. For now, it sounds like Shumpert dodged a bullet.
May 6 - 8:31 PM

Jrue Holiday had successful surgery to remove a screw from a previously placed rod in his lower right leg, according to the Pelicans.

This sounds like it was a scheduled surgery to remove the rod and the team will have a timetable for his return in the future. This is Holiday's second surgery on his leg, which ended his season last year and kept him limited this season dating back to Jan. 12. In the playoffs, he played just 18.3 minutes per game with averages of 6.3 points, 1.0 boards, 4.3 assists and 0.7 steals. He'll be sliding in drafts next year for obvious reasons.

Chris Paul (hamstring) will not play against the Rockets on Wednesday night in Game 2.

Coach Doc Rivers said he doesn't know if CP3 can play in Game 3. The Clippers are already playing with house money with a Game 1 win at Houston on Monday, so there's no need to rush Paul back. Blake Griffin will have another chance for a monster stat line while Austin Rivers gets the start. Expect a better game from Jamal Crawford as well.
May 6 - 8:03 PM

Jimmy Butler will be named as the NBA's Most Improved Player for the 2014-15 season.

This year might have been the toughest race for this award in quite some time. Draymond Green, Rudy Gobert, Hassan Whiteside, Kawhi Leonard and Donatas Motiejunas all deserve some consideration. Although, it was really just a two-horse race with Butler and Draymond Green, who also finished second for Defensive Player of the Year. Butler's improvement off the dribble has gone a long way and he quickly became a go-to scorer. For fantasy, Butler was a steal in drafts this season and he's likely going to be off the board in the second round next season.
May 6 - 7:41 PM

Quincy Pondexter had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday morning and a return timetable will be announced soon.

While the prognosis is not yet known, this procedure is usually a 4-6 week recovering time. He played a little more while the Pelicans were missing guys like Jrue Holiday and will likely just see minutes in the teens while the team is at full strength. His contract is through the 2017-18 season.
