Steve Nash said his back locked up on him during the first quarter of Friday's game against the Blazers.

Nash played through the injury but had a very poor line of four points, five rebounds and six assists. The Lakers play the Mavs on Sunday and Nash is hopeful a day off Saturday will help his back heal enough so that he can play. We'll sideline him and tag him as day-to-day for now. Owners will want to check back after shootaround Sunday morning for an update. If Nash can't play Sunday, Steve Blake would get the start.

Johnny O'Bryant will start at power forward against the Kings.

He made his NBA debut on Wednesday and he already making his first start. The Bucks are completely gutted up front and have nobody behind O'Bryant and Zaza Pachulia, so he could get big minutes. Of course, he's only worth a look in very deep leagues. O'Bryant joins Brandon Knight, O.J. Mayo, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Pachulia in the starting unit.
Dec 18 - 9:01 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (ankle) will start against the Kings on Thursday.

Everything must have went well in warmups and it must be nice to be a 19-year-old professional basketball player. Antetokounmpo was going off on Wednesday before his injury, so his owners should have decent expectations tonight. He should be owned in all leagues. Khris Middleton takes a hit.
Dec 18 - 8:56 PM

DeMarcus Cousins will start against the Bucks on Thursday with a minutes limit.

He's been out since November and his conditioning probably is not up to speed just yet. Cousins is one of the best offensive big men in the NBA while he's pulling down 12.6 boards and adding 1.5 blocks per game. Even with 20 minutes tonight, his owners should still have him in the lineup.
Dec 18 - 8:23 PM

Andrew Bogut's agent David Bauman speculated that Bogut might be able to return "sometime in January."

"I’m not going to say two, three, four weeks, but that’s probably a reasonable assumption if all goes well, and then he’ll return sometime in January," said Bauman. Bogut will likely be re-evaluated in about a week to see how his knee is responding to treatment, after which the team will decide whether to keep resting him or to undergo another round of PRP injections. Marreese Speights and Draymond Green will help fill the void with Bogut on the sidelines.

Nicolas Batum (left knee contusion, right wrist) is questionable to play against the Spurs on Friday.

This probably has to do with his bad fall from the incident with Larry Sanders on Wednesday. Batum did not miss time, but he does have a history with wrist and knee ailments. If he misses time, C.J. McCollum, Dorell Wright and Will Barton will likely pick up some minutes -- none are great fantasy plays. Batum owners will want to check back on Friday morning.
Dec 18 - 7:22 PM

Taj Gibson (ankle) will not play against the Knicks on Thursday.

The Bulls should not need him tonight. Gibson suffered a new injury to his ankle this week, so this is not soreness. Gibson did go through warmups and he's usually pretty tough, so he should be considered a littler closer to probable for Friday. Nikola Mirotic will pick up some extra playing time.
Dec 18 - 7:19 PM

Austin Rivers will start in place of Tyreke Evans (knee) on Thursday.

In his two starts this season, Rivers has made a ridiculous 7.7 percent of his shots from the field, so there is nowhere to go but up. He also has a very tiny usage rate while he's out there with the first unit, but the Pelicans really need help. Rivers is worth a look as a very deep play or a punt in daily.
Dec 18 - 7:13 PM

Tyreke Evans (knee) will not play against the Rockets on Thursday.

The Pelicans cannot stay healthy these days and they are already extremely thin on the wing. It'll likely be Austin Rivers stepping up from the bench and he should see a ton of minutes. Still, he's arguably one of the worst offensive players in the NBA, so fantasy owners shouldn't have high hopes.
Dec 18 - 7:12 PM

Amare Stoudemire will start Thursday as the Knicks take on the Bulls.

Stoudemire will draw a difficult matchup tonight against the Bulls, but with J.R. Smith (foot) and Carmelo Anthony (knee) not playing, he's going to be given a lot of responsibility on the offensive end. He remains a risky play in daily leagues.
Dec 18 - 6:43 PM

The Knicks will start Jose Calderon, Tim Hardaway Jr., Travis Wear, Cole Aldrich and Amare Stoudemire against the Bulls on Thursday.

Not exactly the greatest starting lineup for national TV. Aldrich was outstanding over the summer and he's a much better offensive force than Samuel Dalembert, so it makes sense to give him more run with Carmelo Anthony out. He's a decent rebounder and may also help out on blocking shots. If you're in a pinch, Aldrich could have a decent game for deep-league owners.
Dec 18 - 6:42 PM

Carmelo Anthony (knee) will not play against the Bulls on Thursday.

There is talk of people advising him to sit out for a few weeks, so Anthony could miss time despite how he said he wants to play. With Anthony out, the Knicks are going to have to come up with some creative ways to score the ball. Tim Hardaway Jr. is probably their best bet based on how he carried the Knicks at summer league. Pablo Prigioni, Shane Larkin and Jose Calderon may be used in two-PG lineups, too. Anthony should be considered questionable for the weekend.
