In his first game wearing a Magic uniform, Tobias Harris came off the bench to score 14 points with six rebounds and three blocks in 25 minutes.

Harris has some quiet upside -- in 23 career starts, he's averaged 6.8 points, 0.3 threes, 3.4 rebounds, 0.4 steals and 0.3 blocks in under 19 minutes per game. He primarily played PF with the second unit, which included fellow ex-Bucks Beno Udrih and Doron Lamb, as well as Kyle O'Quinn and DeQuan Jones. Those aren't exactly household names, but deep-league owners should be keeping a very close eye on the lot of them.

Robert Covington scored 29 points during Wednesday's 120-115 loss, making 9-of-15 shots with seven 3-pointers, seven rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one assist.

Covington fell one point shy of his career-high tonight, despite playing a modest 29 minutes. He's going to get a ton of open looks with teams distracted by Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, and this certainly helps answer lingering questions about his role this season.
Oct 18 - 10:18 PM

Joel Embiid finished Wednesday's season opener with 18 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and one block in 27 minutes of action.

He made 7-of-15 FGs and 4-of-4 FTs tonight, and even attempted four 3-pointers. Embiid's minutes were supposed to be limited to the teens as a precaution, but coach Brett Brown said afterward that it's "more of a plan ... than a [medical] restriction]." Even if his minutes stick in the 26-30 range, that would be more than enough for Embiid to mine fantasy gold. The next hurdle comes this weekend, when the Sixers play back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.
Oct 18 - 10:17 PM

Ben Simmons looked great in his NBA debut on Wednesday, making 7-of-15 FGs and 4-of-6 FTs for 18 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block.

Simmons is a force to be reckoned with and the Sixers are going to be a blast to watch all season. The biggest takeaway for fantasy owners is that Simmons played under control as a true point guard and he committed just one turnover in 35 minutes. The playing time and across-the-board production are ideal, and he's already looking like a potential draft-day bargain in re-draft leagues.
Oct 18 - 10:14 PM

Marcin Gortat posted 16 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks during Wednesday's home-opening victory, making 7-of-12 FGs and 2-of-3 FTs in 34 minutes.

Gortat was a rebounding machine tonight, and this is a terrific sight for owners who took a chance on him in the later rounds -- his ADP plummeted due to a brutal finish to the 2016-17 season. The 11-year veteran has returned at least top-100 value (per-game) in six straight seasons, and he couldn't have gotten off to a better start this year.
Oct 18 - 10:07 PM

George Hill, Buddy Hield, Justin Jackson, Skal Labissiere and Willie Cauley-Stein will start against the Rockets on Wednesday.

Hill's groin injury from last week was never a big concern, but it nice to see he will be out there. Jackson starting is interesting, but most fantasy owners can wait and see here. Plus, Skal gets the start for Zach Randolph (oral surgery).
Oct 18 - 9:58 PM

Jeremy Lin (knee) will be evaluated on Thursday, but there is "tremendous concern" about his injury, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.

Oct 18 - 9:54 PM

Damian Lillard, Evan Turner, Moe Harkless, Al-Farouq Aminu and Jusuf Nurkic will start against the Suns on Wednesday.

We're in Game 1 of 82 and already we're going right up until tip before we get the lineup from coach Terry Stotts. With C.J. McCollum set to come back after the one-game suspension, hopefully we'll be back on track.
Oct 18 - 9:52 PM

Jeremy Lin (leg) was helped to the locker room on Wednesday.

It did not look good. Lin went up for a layup and landed awkwardly under the basket. He looked over to the bench for a few seconds, but then was in agonizing pain for a minute before being helped to the locker room. Hopefully we get an update soon, but Lin may have to miss time. Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert would gain run while Isaiah Whitehead would likely be back in the rotation.
Oct 18 - 9:24 PM

Donovan Mitchell started over Rodney Hood against the Nuggets on Wednesday.

It looks like it was just because Hood had to go to the locker room as the game started, so this move may not stick. We'll let you know how both guys do regardless.
Oct 18 - 9:16 PM

Marquese Chriss will come off the bench against the Blazers on Wednesday.

It'll be Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, T.J. Warren, Josh Jackson and Tyson Chandler in the first unit. The Suns do not have Alex Len (ankle) tonight, so they'll slide Chriss over to the five for most of his minutes. He has been effective as a center and not going up against Jusuf Nurkic is a plus, so Chriss doesn't lose value with this news. He should be starting in all leagues.
Oct 18 - 8:34 PM

Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Wilson Chandler, Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic will start against the Jazz on Wednesday.

Despite a point guard "competition" this month, it would have been a major surprise for Murray to lose his job. The Nuggets first unit after the break was one of the best groups in the NBA, so expect him to get minutes around 30. Fantasy owners probably got the Blue Arrow at a good value, so fire him up in all leagues.
