Nikola Vucevic posted 25 points, 21 rebounds and four assists in Wednesday's loss to the Heat.

At this time last year, Vucevic was languishing on the Sixers' bench behind the likes of Lavoy Allen and Spencer Hawes. Now he's dominating the Heat and forcing coverage from LeBron James. This is Vucevic's second 20-rebound game of the year and he's now averaging 11.3 boards per night to go with 12.2 points. At just 22 years old, the future with this true 7-footer is really bright. The best asset in the Andrew Bynum/Andre Iguodala trade turned out to be Vucevic.

Andrew Wiggins (back) will not play against the Bucks on Wednesday.

He has a lower back contusion and he should be ready to start the season. Wiggins' exact role is unclear, but considering how few playmakers the Wolves have on offense, you'd think he gets his chances to score. If you want him, you can probably look to grab him around pick 70, but there are some more proven studs at that ADP.
Oct 22 - 6:38 PM

Brandon Knight (groin) and Ersan Ilyasova (knee) are both available to play against the Wolves on Wednesday.

He missed over one week with his groin injury and it's unclear if he'll be limited tonight. Nobody stepped up while Knight was on the shelf, so he is expected to start at point guard. Fantasy owners can target him in the later rounds of drafts.
Oct 22 - 6:22 PM

Paul Pierce (knee) will not play against the Knicks on Wednesday.

It's just a knee bruise for Pierce and he's fully expected to be ready to go next week. Pierce's minutes and usage rate will be headed south this year, so he's more of a late-round target in standard leagues.
Oct 22 - 6:16 PM

Rajon Rondo (hand) has been cleared for some contact with a pad on his hand.

He's still very doubtful for the opener, but he might be closer to the front end of the 6-8 week prognosis. Rondo is coming off his worst year since being a primary facilitator of the offense and his numbers didn't translate to fantasy in most formats. Fantasy owners should probably let someone else deal with him.
Oct 22 - 5:59 PM

Jose Calderon (right calf) will not play against the Wizards on Wednesday.

Coach Derek Fisher said he hopes to have Calderon out there on Friday and his calf strain is not considered serious. He's dealt with a slew of muscle pulls in his leg, so this injury shouldn't be completely dismissed. Still, he's a low-end No. 2 fantasy point guard. Shane Larkin will start and look to make an impact tonight.
Oct 22 - 5:52 PM

Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza will not play on Wednesday night against the Magic.

Dwight won't get to face his old team in the last road game of the preseason and there has been no word of his knee injury being a factor in this decision. He should be ready to go to start the season and will look to bounce back from a mildly disappointing 2013-14.
Oct 22 - 5:41 PM

Jimmy Butler (thumb) will be re-evaluated in "a week or so," according to coach Tom Thibodeau.

That would put him in jeopardy of missing the season opener on Wednesday against the New York Knicks. Butler suffered the injury on Sunday and he will miss the rest of the preseason. He was having a superb preseason and should be more efficient this year, so fantasy owners can still target him in the middle rounds.
Oct 22 - 3:24 PM

Gerald Henderson's strained right hamstring will prevent him from playing in Charlotte's preseason finale on Thursday.

He has yet to resume full-contact practices and had a setback earlier in the week, so there are no guarantees that he'll be ready for opening night. He barely helped fantasy owners last season despite averaging 32 minutes per game as a starter, so there's no reason to touch him while he's coming off the bench.
Oct 22 - 1:26 PM

Victor Oladipo (sprained MCL) is "hopeful" that he can play in Orlando's season opener, but he remains day-to-day.

Oladipo returned to practice on Monday and the Magic would like to see him on the court for Friday's finale, but they won't risk playing him at less than full strength. The Magic open their regular season vs. New Orleans on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

The NBA's owners voted down proposed changes to the draft lottery system on Tuesday, in favor of the existing system.

The 76ers initially led the charge to keep the current system, which makes sense because they're hoping to land a No. 1 draft pick next summer. They were joined by 12 other teams which voted 'No' on the changes, nearly all of which were small-market teams who felt the changes could favor bigger markets by further increasing their access to elite talent. The Spurs were overwhelmingly favored to repeat as NBA champions in a recent survey of the league's GMs, with Gregg Popovich earning 92.9 percent of votes for 'Best Coach.'

Joakim Noah earned the nod for 'Best Defensive Player,' Jabari Parker was declared the rookie who will impress the most in five years, and Tyson Chandler's trade to Dallas was voted the 'Most Underrated Acquisition' of the summer. You can peruse the full results by clicking on the link below.
