Marco Belinelli drilled a 3-pointer with 5.9 seconds left to lift the Bulls to a 89-88 win over the Jazz on Friday, and finished with 22 points, three treys, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Bello hit 7-of-14 shots and 5-of-5 freebies, playing 42 minutes while further solidifying his role in Tom Thibodeau's rotation. Still, we can't say with any certainty how long this honeymoon will last, but Jimmy Butler is struggling and Richard Hamilton still isn't traveling with the team. After his recent stretch, it may be time to pick Belinelli up, but owners should note the Bulls' upcoming two-game week.

Kevin Martin (ankle) is expected to play against the Pistons on Thursday, but he is not listed as the starter.

He missed the opener due to an ankle sprain in Tuesday's practice and did try to warm up for that game. Martin is hurt quite often and the Wolves may keep his minutes in check in his first game back, which may explain why he's not starting. If he starts, Corey Brewer is likely headed back to the bench. Martin and Brewer are not must-own players while Andrew Wiggins owners will be hoping for a better showing tonight.

Updating a previous item, Channing Frye (knee) is expected to start on Thursday.

That escalated quickly. Frye was expected to be active, but wasn't even a lock to play. Now, he's in the starting lineup in place of Kyle O'Quinn (ankle). At this point, Frye will not only make his Magic debut, but could play a larger role than expected. Fantasy owners will want to monitor his performance and usage closely.

The Cavs and Anderson Varejao are "nearing agreement" on a three-year, $30 million extension, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.

The two sides were reportedly close earlier in the week, and it sounds like there is a good chance a deal is done before very long at all. It will be very interesting to see how Varejao's new deal impacts the chances of the Cavs also giving Tristan Thompson an extension.

Kemba Walker (foot) is still dealing with some discomfort.

Walker had a foot injury during the preseason, and it's apparently still an issue. Walker dealt with double-leg cramps while playing hero in the Hornets comeback win, and he also had a "cramp" in his foot when the score was tied. Walker was spotted hobbling out of the shower and soaked his foot in a bucket of ice after the game, so he's clearly not 100 percent just yet.

Lance Stephenson fought through "full body cramps" in the Hornets overtime win against the Bucks on Wednesday.

Stephenson was dealing with a groin injury coming in as well. It doesn't sound like Born Ready is in danger of missing any time right now, but owners will want to monitor the situation closely.

Isaiah Thomas said he's "still trying to figure it out" when asked about what his role is with the Suns.

Thomas played just 20 minutes in Wednesday's opening-night blowout win over the Lakers, but he had 23 points, three assists and five triples. It's unclear how exactly Thomas will be deployed routinely, but he's got a good chance to earn some traction for Sixth Man of the Year if he doesn't find himself in the starting lineup.

The Bulls and Jimmy Butler have a "large gap" in extension talks, according to beat writer KC Johnson.

Johnson is as dialed in as any reporter on the Bulls beat, so we're inclined to take him at his word. ESPN's Chris Broussard also said that it's "unlikely" the two sides come to an agreement prior to Friday's deadline, but both Butler and the Bulls have been vocal about wanting to remain together.
Oct 30 - 2:57 PM

Jose Calderon (calf) is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

An MRI confirmed the injury. Deemed ready to go just before the opening tip on Wednesday, Calderon was a last-minute scratch, and he'll now miss at least two weeks. Without Calderon, the Knicks will rely on Shane Larkin and Pablo Prigioni at point guard. Neither player is a real attractive option in standard fantasy leagues.

Ray Allen said he's still undecided on his playing future, but added that he would only need a week to get ready to play.

The predominant thought around the NBA is that Allen will wait until the All-Star break to sign with a team and his latest quotes don't go against that theory. "I've just been home, taking my kids to school," said the 18-year veteran. "I'm working out, taking care of my body. I'm in great shape. I'll just watch how the season progresses, and if I do feel the desire to continue to play, then I'll decide what situation is viable for me." Fantasy owners in standard leagues don't need to worry about Allen, but he could help owners in deep leagues if he signs with a team like the Cavaliers as a sharpshooter.

Nets' head coach Lionel Hollins didn't offer a timetable for Brook Lopez' return from a foot injury before Wednesday's opening night loss to the Celtics.

"He’s not playing tonight. He still is having some pain when he goes hard. I have no idea what progressing means," Hollins said when asked if Lopez is progressing. "Is he pregnant or not pregnant? He’s not playing, he can’t play. When he can play, he’ll have progressed to the point where I would like him to be." There's a chance that Lopez may be available for Saturday's game in Detroit or Monday's game against Oklahoma City, but the fact that he's still experiencing pain in his surgically-repaired foot doesn't exactly qualify as great news.
Oct 30 - 1:48 PM

Kawhi Leonard (eye) will play against the Suns on Friday, according to head coach Gregg Popovich.

Leonard will travel with the team to Phoenix after practicing for the last several days, and Gregg Popovich gave the best news that Leonard's fantasy owners could hope for in saying, ""He's in for Friday." Leonard has been a popular breakout pick among the Rotoworld hoops staff and owners shouldn't think twice about putting him in their lineups for Friday night.
