Updating an earlier item, James Harden (foot) will play on Friday against the Wolves.

Harden is not 100 percent, but there is no way he should be on owners' benches tonight.

Boban Marjanovic is inactive for Friday against the Wizards.

Two weeks ago, it seemed coach Stan Van Gundy liked Boban more than Diet Pepsi, but his love for him fizzled out like, umm, you know. SVG is going to take a by committee approach behind Andre Drummond, so for now it looks like Eric Moreland is the No. 2 center with Jon Leuer mixed in there. While this could change, Boban is obviously a drop in most leagues now.

Stanley Johnson (back) is going to start against the Wizards on Friday.

He gets the green light early, so maybe he's close to 100 percent despite missing shootaround. Johnson played a whopping 40 minutes on Wednesday, but somehow missed all 13 shots from the field. Maybe he gets it turned around, so he's a possible DFS play.
Oct 20 - 5:40 PM

Marcus Smart (ankle) will not play against the 76ers on Friday.

It'll be Aron Baynes in the starting lineup. With Smart out, we saw Terry Rozier play 17 minutes next to Kyrie Irving on Wednesday, so that number is probably climbing. We should see some Semi Ojeleye and maybe even Abdel Nader to help out with depth.
Oct 20 - 5:36 PM

Coach Scott Brooks said Jason Smith (sprained right shoulder) will not play Friday vs. the Pistons, and that Kelly Oubre would be inserted into the starting lineup.

Smith injured the shoulder in the season opener on Wednesday and was unable to return. Fortunately, the MRI revealed no structural damage and he was listed day-to-day, but he's not yet ready to return. Otto Porter is going to shift over to power forward to replace Smith, while Oubre starts at small forward. Oubre played 33 minutes off the bench on Wednesday and should log over 30 minutes again on Friday.
Oct 20 - 5:24 PM

DeAndre Bembry (right wrist) suffered a fracture and will be re-evaluated on Monday.

This is a a really tough blow for a guy who had a great offseason, and already suffered a muscle tear to his triceps. With him out, Marco Belinelli will get minutes in the mid 20s while Taurean Prince and Kent Bazemore also see more playing time. Luke Babbitt figures to be in the rotation more often, as well.
Oct 20 - 5:19 PM

Stanley Johnson (back) is a game-time decision to face the Wizards on Friday.

He did not go through shootaround, so this is expected. Johnson had a rough start on Wednesday with his 0-of-13 shooting line, but he was useful besides that. If he can't go, Tobias Harris would likely slide over to the three while Jon Leuer and Henry Ellenson man the PF minutes. Maybe we get to see Boban Marjanovic with Leuer moving over, too.
Oct 20 - 5:00 PM

There are fears that Chris Paul's (knee) injury could sideline him for a month, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Officially, Paul is listed as day-to-day, but he has already been ruled out for Saturday against the Mavs. Paul originally suffered the injury against the Grizzlies in a preseason game on Oct. 11, and you could tell he wasn't right in the opener. Coach Mike D'Antoni said that it's only a bruise, but obviously there is some concern here. James Harden and Eric Gordon will get big minutes until CP3 can make it back. It sounds like the Rockets won't play him until he's 100 percent.
Oct 20 - 4:40 PM

Frank Ntilikina turned his ankle at practice on Friday and needed help off the court.

We don't know the severity of the injury, but this obviously isn't great. Ntilikina was the third point guard in the rotation on Thursday and now he could miss Saturday's game against the Pistons. We'll have an update on him at some point, but it's going to be a while before he's a regular contributor.
Oct 20 - 3:53 PM

Rodney Hood is not at 100 percent yet, but will start against the Wolves on Friday.

His illness kept him out of the starting lineup and at just 18 minutes on Wednesday, but he should be able to get to minutes in the mid 20s today. Hood is fully expected to be the top perimeter scoring option with the Jazz. Donovan Mitchell got the start, but he played most of his minutes at point guard. Get Hood in your lineups for tonight.
Oct 20 - 3:32 PM

Denzel Valentine (knee) didn’t practice on Friday.

That's not a good sign and he is questionable for Saturday against the Spurs. Valentine played both wing spots off the bench with 26 total minutes, so he would be a key piece for this rotation. If he can't go, backup point guard Kay Felder would be busy in his time while David Nwaba would probably pick up most of the backup wing minutes.
Oct 20 - 3:26 PM

Alexis Ajinca underwent successful bilateral knee injections on Thursday and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

He has been injured since Oct. 8 and missed some game action. Ajinca wasn't a lock to be in the rotation with Check Diallo playing minutes next to both DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis in the preseason, but Diallo only played one minute in the opener.
