Jermaine O'Neal (calf) did not practice on Thursday and "could be sidelined beyond Friday's game against Minnesota."

It sounds as if O'Neal has already been ruled out on Friday and the Suns are bracing for the fact they'll be without him for longer than that. "I know he's pretty sore," Lindsey Hunter said. The team will take it day-by-day, but we'd expect O'Neal to sit on Friday, meaning Luis Scola, Hamed Haddadi and possibly Markieff Morris will all be called into extended action.

Marc Gasol scored 28 points in 33 minutes in Friday's 107-91 win over the Kings.

Gasol filled it up tonight, shooting 9-of-19 from the field and 7-of-7 from the line with nine rebounds, four assists, one steal and three triples in 33 minutes. Gasol has now scored 24+ points in three straight games, but his owners will want to make sure he's active on Saturday vs. the Rockets on the second night of a back-to-back set -- Gasol has rested twice this season and both DNPs occurred during back-to-back sets.

Nick Young (knee) started the second half of Friday's game vs. the Pacers.

He hyperextended his left knee in the second quarter, but X-rays were negative and it sounds like he escaped with a minor tweak. Young is moving well as we report this, but check back after the game for an update.
Jan 21 - 12:02 AM

D'Angelo Russell (knee, calf) will not return to Friday's game vs. the Pacers.

In addition to his right MCL sprain, Russell also has a strained right calf. The Lakers didn't rule Russell out right away, so hopefully the injuries are minor. Russell is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday, but don't be surprised if he misses time since the Lakers have nothing to play for. Jose Calderon started the second half, but he's not a great speculative pickup. Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams will each get a boost with Russell out.
Jan 21 - 12:01 AM

J.J. Barea (left calf) is expected to miss weeks due to his calf injury from Friday night.

Coach Rick Carlisle was not encouraged after the game. "Same calf, different area. Unlucky. It's gonna be a while," Carlisle said. That means Barea has now suffered three different injuries to his lower left leg with a previous calf strain and another Achilles problem before that. The Mavs likely have to shut him down at least to help his career long term. He's a drop candidate. Meanwhile, go get Seth Curry in all leagues while Devin Harris also benefits.
Jan 20 - 11:45 PM

Nick Young hyperextended his left knee on Friday vs. the Pacers and is questionable to return.

X-rays were negative and there's a chance that Young could play in the second half. If Young or D'Angelo Russell (knee) are unable to return, Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams will be busy in the second half. Stay tuned .

Caris LeVert made all six shots from the field and both free throws for 17 points against the Pelicans on Friday, adding five rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

Kaboom. There has been buzz about LeVert for over a month and coach Kenny Atkinson has said that the rookie is forcing his hand to play him more despite how he planned to bring him along slowly. Since 1983-84, LeVert is the only Net to post at least 15 points, five boards and five assists while not missing any shots. He ran the offense a ton in the second half and his efficiency has been fantastic lately as a scorer with some of the flashiest moves in the NBA. With how well he's been playing, how he plays three positions, has his coach talking him up, and with the Nets playing at the fastest pace in the NBA, he has to be added right now.
Jan 20 - 11:35 PM

Nick Young limped to the locker room in the second quarter on Friday.

He had a tweak to his left knee on a non-contact injury and couldn't put weight on it as he hopped off the floor. Young was in a lot of pain along the baseline for about two minutes before going back to the locker room. If he's out, Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams will be busy. We'll likely see more Jose Calderon and Brandon Ingram, as well.
Jan 20 - 11:29 PM

J.J. Barea suffered a lower left leg injury in the fourth quarter and went to the locker room.

He went up for a jump shot and just over-extended his calf or Achilles. This is the same leg that has cost him several games in multiple stints this year, so he's almost a lock to miss time. Make sure Seth Curry isn't on your waiver wire.
Jan 20 - 10:57 PM

Elfrid Payton scored 20 points with six assists, four rebounds, three steals and two triples in Friday's 112-96 win over the Bucks.

Payton logged a team-high 37 minutes and the Magic used a lot of two-PG lineups with Jodie Meeks (right thumb) and Evan Fournier (heel, foot) both out -- C.J. Watson played 31 minutes and D.J. Augustin played 28. Payton is going to be a workhorse going forward and finished 6-of-11 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line. The Magic have been linked to Goran Dragic, so Payton's owners will obviously be hoping for a quiet trade deadline.
Jan 20 - 10:17 PM

Kemba Walker scored 32 points in a 113-78 win over the Raptors on Friday, adding four rebounds, eight assists and six 3-pointers in 29 minutes.

It's been a while since we've see a Kemba explosion like this one with only 21.4 points per game in his previous five. We've love to call this an All-Star snub game, but Walker said he didn't really care about that. "I really don’t care, honestly," Walker said. "It’s really starting to get old, hearing about it. If my name is called, I’ll be super excited. But if not, I’ll just have to move on." He has a great chance to be a reserve, but the East guards are stacked.
Jan 20 - 10:16 PM

Greg Monroe played just 14 minutes in Friday's loss to the Magic and scored seven points on 2-of-7 shooting.

The worst nightmare for Monroe's owners came true on Friday as the Bucks used a three-man rotation at center for the first time since November (with the exception of garbage time) -- Miles Plumlee and John Henson each played 16 minutes. Hopefully the lopsided score had something to do with it, but this is worth keeping an eye on during Saturday's game vs. the Heat. Monroe added five rebounds, one assist and one steal, and he's still a hold in standard leagues despite scoring just two points in 18 minutes in his previous outing.
