Monta Ellis is suddenly questionable to play on Friday against the Pacers because he was sick, and he did not go through shootaround.

Ellis hit just 2-of-14 shots in his last game after battling through a wrist ailment, and now his status for Friday's game is very much up in the air. If he sits out, J.J. Redick would likely start and play major minutes with Ersan Ilyasova (back, hip) not expected to play. Brandon Jennings would also play as many minutes as he can handle at the point with Mike Dunleavy kicking in some extra minutes also.

Rajon Rondo and the Kings agreed on a one-year deal for $10 million.

So who bid against the Kings here? Rondo was benched at the end of the playoffs last season and the Mavs offense slipped since they picked him up. They were first in the NBA for offensive rating before Rondo, but fell all the way to 13th in offensive rating while he was on the Mavs. Darren Colllison was much better than Rondo was last year and he's a better fit on the Kings right now, too. Rondo is a high-risk player to think about late in drafts.

Patrick Beverley and the Rockets have agreed on a four-year, $25 million deal.

That's quite a payday for a guy who really can't get his own shot and isn't much of a passer, but it's not just about the offensive side for one of the best defensive guards. Beverley was believed to be in serious talks with the Kings, but once again nobody wants the Kings' money. Mr. 94 Feet made just 38.3 percent from the field last season, averaging 10.1 points, 4.2 boards, 3.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.1 treys. Even with the woeful shooting, he's still worth a look late in fantasy drafts. To be clear, this is a very nice deal for the Rockets.
Jul 3 - 7:05 PM

The Rockets will be re-signing Corey Brewer to a three-year, $24 million deal.

The Knicks, Celtics and Kings could've had a shot, but the Rockets make a great case. He thrives in their system and may have more opportunity next year. Brewer's inconsistency in halfcourt sets will make him tough to own in standard leagues.
Jul 3 - 6:06 PM

J.J. Barea is working on a deal with the Mavs.

This isn't a surprise now that the Mavericks have their center in place. Barea actually turned it on against the Rockets in the playoffs, averaging 11.8 points, 4.8 boards, 7.4 assists and 0.8 treys. His numbers won't be that good next year, but he'll be on the radar in standard leagues, especially if the Mavs can't add anyone else.
Jul 3 - 4:46 PM

DeAndre Jordan’s announcement that he is signing with the Mavericks is expected to be around 5 p.m. central time on Friday night, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

He is now ex-Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, which has to sting in Los Angeles. The Mavs still have to figure out what they're going to do at the point guard spot and their two wings are coming off serious leg surgeries, but this is big for them. The Mavs will use DJ in a ton of pick and rolls, so expect his scoring to be closer to 20 points per game even though he can't score off the dribble. He's also a good bet to repeat as the league's leading rebounder.
Jul 3 - 4:00 PM

DeAndre Jordan is on the verge of accepting the Mavs' four-year, $80 million-plus max offer.

The decision is likely to come today. This report comes from Marc Stein of ESPN, who always seems to have the scoop on the Mavs. The Mavs may have sold Jordan on being a bigger offensive player, which is certainly interesting. In fact, of his 523 field goal attempts last season, he used two-plus dribbles on just 13 of those. Regardless, the Clippers are in a really, really bad spot right now.
Jul 3 - 3:43 PM

Rajon Rondo and the Kings ended their meeting and didn't agree to terms on a deal.

It would almost be a shock to see Rondo agreeing to terms with another team. It probably makes the most sense for him to do a one-year deal or a two-year deal with a player option to allow him to boost his value. His value is at its low point and his style doesn't fit with the 3-point friendly NBA. The Lakers may also go after Rondo.
Jul 3 - 3:31 PM

Gary Neal has agreed to a one-year, $2.1 million deal with the Wizards.

Since his departure from San Antonio, things have not gone well for Neal at all. The Bucks and Hornets both dumped him after some reported issues, and he's also had some struggles at shooting the rock. He'll likely just be some Bradley Beal insurance and is unlikely to get more than 20 minutes off the bat. This deal is expected to be in the bi-annual exception, so it won't affect the cap number.
Jul 3 - 3:19 PM

DeAndre Jordan informed the Knicks he will not sign with them.

Robin Lopez is now the Knicks starting center. Jordan will choose the Mavs or Clippers soon. Perhaps ruling out the Knicks is a good sign that a decision is coming, but they never had a chance to begin with.
Jul 3 - 3:16 PM

The Kings and Marco Belinellli have agreed to a three-year, $19 million deal.

Well, Vivek Ranadive's money is still good. The Kings have whiffed on every noteworthy free agent until now, so Belinelli may actually have a chance to start -- that's unlikely and Ben McLemore is still the heavy favorite. Plus, the Kings desperately need 3-point shooting, so he is likely going to have a chance to score in double figures. He'll be a sneaky late-round specialist for 3-pointers.
Jul 3 - 2:37 PM

The Knicks are finalizing a four-year, $54 million deal with Robin Lopez.

It's still not completely official yet because DeAndre Jordan has a microscopic chance to choose the Knicks, but this sounds like a done deal. While that's a massive contract for a guy who only had a 15.6 usage rate and only a 12.3 defensive rebound rate last season, Lopez is really a nice fit for the Knicks. Ro-Lo was also very good at rim protection last year, which was a bad weakness for the Knicks. He'll be an interesting standard league target in the 75-100 range.
