Ty Lawson (heel) said he will "try to play" on Saturday against the Kings.

It's a pretty good sign to hear this type of report relatively early on a Friday, and at a minimum this suggests that the injury isn't too serious. Lawson has always accumulated smaller injuries that may one day catch up with him, but for now he usually bounces back and gets on the floor.

Kyle Kuzma will play minutes at small forward and power forward to start the season.

This is an expected move for the Lakers and he could even be the first man off the bench. If Luke Walton does keep a short bench, Kuzma could get minutes in the upper 20s out of the gate. He's worth owning in standard leagues and could be a nice DFS play today.
Oct 19 - 2:31 PM

Josh Hart (Achilles) will not play against the Clippers on Thursday.

This has been expected all week since Hart needed an MRI on his Achilles. He has bursitis, so this is more of a day-to-day thing than something that will require a lot of time off. That said, the Lakers won't be rushing him back. With him and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope out, Expect to see plenty of minutes going to Jordan Clarkson.
Oct 19 - 2:28 PM

Jason Smith (sprained right shoulder) is a game-time call on Friday vs. Detroit.

An MRI revealed no structural damage and he's day-to-day. He's not on your fantasy roster for a reason and the eventual return of Markieff Morris (hernia) limits Smith's fantasy appeal. If he misses Friday's contest, Kelly Oubre will likely be the big winner.
Oct 19 - 1:51 PM

Markieff Morris (hernia) participated in Thursday's non-contact practice.

Coach Scott Brooks said Morris is close to returning to full-contact practice and it sounds like he has a real shot to beat his original timetable that had him returning in mid-November. Once Morris is cleared to play, that would likely dampen the fantasy appeal of Kelly Oubre. Jason Smith (shoulder) would also lose minutes.
Oct 19 - 1:50 PM

An MRI taken on Draymond Green's came back negative according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.

Breathe, Warriors fans. We're still waiting for additional updates and it's unclear if Draymond plays on Friday vs. New Orleans, but this is really good news. If he's forced to the sidelines, rookie Jordan Bell will likely be called upon the most and clearly has the trust of his head coach.
Oct 19 - 1:46 PM

Cavs Coach Tyronn Lue said he has to "do a better job" of getting Kevin Love involved in the offense a little more.

"When we're playing slow and we're not moving the basketball and we're not moving bodies, he really doesn't benefit," Lue said. "We've got to do a better job getting Kevin more involved." LeBron James made similar comments about Love, and the team seems committed on getting him going early and often. He's still adjusting to his new role at center and he had a quiet opening night with 15 points, 11 rebounds and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes, but the big lines are coming.
Oct 19 - 12:34 PM

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, JaMychal Green (ankle) is expected to miss several weeks.

Another report from TNT reporter David Aldridge indicated that Green will be out 3-4 weeks. AN MRI on his left ankle sprain came back clean, but he's still going to be out a while. With Green sidelined, Chandler Parsons will have to play more four, while Jarell Martin and Brandan Wright should both be more involved as well. In terms of fantasy pickups, most owners can probably use a wait-and-see approach.
Oct 19 - 12:22 PM

Kris Dunn (finger) had his stitches removed and could be cleared for live contact in 4-5 days according to Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg.

His initial timetable had him returning to the court in early November, so he has a chance to beat that. The Bulls probably want him to get in a couple practices before returning to game action, so Jerian Grant still has a chance to run away with the starting job.
Oct 19 - 12:19 PM

Jeremy Lin (knee) suffered a patellar tendon rupture on Wednesday and will miss the rest of season according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Nets confirmed this reports just a few minutes after. This is a huge loss for Brooklyn and it robs NBA fans of the chance to see their dynamic backcourt pairing of Lin and D'Angelo Russell. Lin has a player option for $12.5 million next season, so it's going to be hard for him to turn that down. He should make a full recovery and will hopefully be ready to roll in 2018-19. With Lin out, Russell will take on most of the ball-handling responsibilities, while Caris LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie will get a bump as well. Isaiah Whitehead could also get a chance to earn a rotation spot. Get well soon, Lin.
Oct 19 - 10:38 AM

Buddy Hield looked good in 33 minutes as a starter on Wednesday, hitting 8-of-17 shots with three 3-pointers for 19 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The second-year SG added one steal with two turnovers in 33 minutes. This could give him a leg up on injured Bogdan Bogdanovic (ankle) for the starting job, if nothing else, and it's a solid start to the 2017-18 season for everyone who gambled on him in the late rounds.
Oct 19 - 3:34 AM

Clint Capela piled up 22 points, 17 rebounds, three steals, one block and one assist in 28 minutes vs. the Kings, making 10-of-12 field goals and both of his free throws.

Capela did this without Chris Paul's passing genius on the court tonight, and he's set up for a tremendous fantasy season. He's a natural source of boards and defensive stats, and his scoring should overwhelmingly be of the high-percentage variety on lobs and putbacks. Congrats to those with the foresight to draft him.
