Chris Paul played through his balky knee and went off, hitting 12-of-15 shots for 33 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals and three 3-pointers as the Clippers lost a heartbreaker in overtime in Dallas.

He committed seven turnovers, but the fact he played so well as a game-time decision says a lot. The Clippers still have three games left this week and owners have to hope Paul's knee is feeling good when he wakes up in the morning. The fact he played at all and played so well has to be frustrating, as he could have gotten some much needed rest and the Clippers would have had the same result - a loss.

Dennis Smith Jr. (left hip strain) does not have a timetable to return, according to coach Rick Carlisle.

"[Smith Jr.] getting 100 percent healthy is our No. 1 priority," Carlisle said. He will meet with the team physician when the Mavs return home on Monday, so we'll consider him questionable for Tuesday's game vs. San Antonio. Owners should await an update after the re-evaluation -- if DSJ does miss more time, Yogi Ferrell should continue to start alongside Wes Matthews, with J.J. Barea and Devin Harris picking up a few extra minutes off the bench.
Dec 11 - 1:17 AM

Doug McDermott scored a season-high 23 points in 31 minutes on Sunday, making 9-of-13 field goals with two 3-pointers and three rebounds.

He also went 3-of-3 at the free throw line, but didn't have any assists, steals or blocks. This was a terrific turn of events if you were somehow playing him tonight, but he's still untouchable in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.
Dec 10 - 11:37 PM

Ersan Ilyasova stayed hot with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting Sunday, going 5-of-6 from downtown with four rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 31 minutes.

The 10-year veteran was coming off a pristine 9-of-9 shooting performance on Saturday, and he's a combined 10-of-11 on 3-point shots over the past two games. The Hawks don't have much frontcourt depth due to injuries right now, which protects Ilyasova's minutes night to night, and he's worth deploying while he's running hot.
Dec 10 - 11:26 PM

Rajon Rondo returned from a day of rest to finish Sunday's home victory with a season-high 18 assists, 13 points, five steals, one block and one 3-pointer in 37 minutes.

Not too shabby. This is just the second time Rondo has exceeded 30 minutes since returning in mid-November, as the Pelicans are wisely being cautious with his workload. He's played in two back-to-back sets, though, so the restrictions aren't too severe. He came into this game hot over the past five games, averaging 9.8 points on 56.8% shooting, 1.4 triples, 5.2 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 0.8 steals. Those numbers are going up after tonight's gem.
Dec 10 - 11:09 PM

Jrue Holiday dropped 34 points with five 3-pointers, five assists, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks on Sunday, making 11-of-21 FGs and 7-of-8 FTs in 41 minutes.

Holiday jump-started the offense late, scoring 19 points in the fourth quarter to help New Orleans avoid a loss to the short-handed Sixers. He's really settled into his role alongside Rajon Rondo and is taking advantage of the defensive attention drawn by DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis, which frees him up for easier looks. That said, it will be Jrue's defense that gets tested vs. the Rockets on Monday.
Dec 10 - 11:07 PM

Ben Simmons had 27 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and one block, but he couldn't prevent the Sixers' fourth straight loss on Sunday.

Simmons made 10-of-16 FGs and 7-of-9 FTs in a high-scoring affair in New Orleans, and he was relentless attacking the basket -- all of his shots came within 14 feet, and he feasted in the restricted area. As usual, he's a monster for DFS and points leagues, while taking a sizable hit in category leagues due to poor FT shooting (55.7%) and high turnovers (3.8 per game).
Dec 10 - 10:42 PM

Joel Embiid (back tightness) expects to play on Tuesday, but he'll work out on Monday to see how his back responds.

"If it was the Finals I'm sure I could have [played on Sunday]," Embiid said. He first experienced tightness while playing 36 minutes vs. the Lakers on Thursday, but his absence on Saturday was described by the team as simple 'rest'. He was a very late scratch on Sunday, suggesting that he warmed up but didn't feel quite ready, and at least he's optimistic that he won't miss more games. Check back for updates on Monday afternoon.
Dec 10 - 10:39 PM

Will Barton racked up 21 points, nine assists, six rebounds and two steals on Sunday, with just one turnover in 45 minutes.

Barton is thriving in the Nuggets' small-ball lineup, and coach Mike Malone said recently that he's comfortable playing him huge minutes. He's at 33.7 minutes over the past month, during which time he's averaged 17.7 points (49.2% FGs, 74.4% FTs), 2.4 triples, 5.5 boards, 3.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.7 blocks. That across-the-board production is resulting in early-round value, which should be sustainable as long as the minutes are there. He's simply crushing most pre-season expectations.
Dec 10 - 8:55 PM

Trey Lyles erupted for a career-high 25 points on Sunday, hitting 9-of-15 field goals with five 3-pointers, five rebounds and one steal in just 26 minutes off the bench.

Lyles' team-high scoring wasn't enough to earn the victory, as Denver was outscored 12-2 in overtime, but that won't sour the mood for fantasy owners who gambled on him. He was coming off a dud on Friday (three points, 0-of-8 FGs), but was a picture of efficiency tonight -- all of his makes came either from downtown or in the restricted area. He's worth a look for cheap, temporary value while Nikola Jokic (ankle) is on the sidelines.
Dec 10 - 8:54 PM

Lance Stephenson (ankle) came off the bench for 12 points, six rebounds and a season-high six assists in 36 minutes on Sunday.

Darren Collison's absence with knee soreness really opened things up for Stephenson tonight, and the 36 minutes matched his season-high. Despite his solid play, it's impossible to overlook the situational nature of this line. He'd be worth considering if Collison misses more games, but the Pacers don't play again until Wednesday vs. OKC.
Dec 10 - 8:52 PM

Myles Turner made 10-of-15 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers, to finish Sunday's OT victory with 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.

The 21-year-old center didn't commit a single foul or turnover in 41 minutes tonight -- that's now two straight games without a turnover. His 15 shots were the most since Nov. 7 and it was nice to see Indiana look for him offensively, taking advantage of the absence of Nikola Jokic in the middle -- he went 4-of-4 in the restricted area. He's cruising as a top-30 value this month.
