Tyreke Evans had 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists on Saturday, sinking 9-of-15 FGs and 3-of-3 FTs in a heartbreaking loss to the visiting Lakers.

Sleep Train Arena was buzzing with a sell-out crowd all night, and Tyreke and the Kings fought hard, but they were done in by some questionable decisions down the stretch. Foremost among them were a late one-on-three drive by Tyreke which led to a turnover, the Kings final three shots all being 3-pointers from DeMarcus Cousins, and (if you sense a lack of offensive leadership) Keith Smart's decision to bench Isaiah Thomas for all but the final 24 seconds of the fourth quarter.

Isaiah Canaan acknowledged during a recent interview that it's been challenging logging heavy minutes with the 76ers as he's still working his body into game shape.

Canaan's minutes jumped from 14.8 per game in Houston, to 30.5 per game since coming to Philadelphia, and that has perhaps been a factor in his 38.7 percent shooting from the field with the 76ers. Canaan will have plenty of opportunity to produce as the unquestioned starting point guard in Philly's uptempo system, so hopefully he'll be able to improve on his averages of 12.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 2.7 three-pointers per game as he gets his conditioning to where it needs to be.

Derrick Rose is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right knee Friday morning, and a timeline for his return will be announced following his procedure.

Rose will undergo a meniscectomy, which is a procedure that will remove all or part of his torn meniscus, but it's worth noting that many within the Bulls' organization remain cautiously optimistic that Rose will be able to return at some point this season. We'll be following this story closely, but given the amount of time Rose has spent sidelined over the past three seasons, we're not as optimistic as the Bulls, and Rose can probably be dropped in standard leagues at this point.

With news that Darren Collison (hip) is likely to miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season, Kings' head coach George Karl said that he intends to have Ray McCallum and Andre Miller split minutes at the point guard slot.

"I think Ray’s played well," Karl said. "I think right now probably my desire is to split them, probably 24-24 is kind of in mind what it’s going to end up. Probably defensively, Ray would be in the game when it counts and Andre would be in the game probably offensively." As a starter this season, McCallum is averaging 9.3 points, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game, limiting his value to deeper leagues.
Feb 26 - 4:36 PM

DeMarcus Cousins (left ankle) was unable to practice on Thursday, and head coach George Karl said he was unsure if Cousins would be able to go Friday vs. the Spurs.

This is the first we're hearing of an ankle injury for Cousins, and we'll continue to monitor this situation closely. If he's unable to go on Friday, Ryan Hollins or Reggie Evans would have the opportunity to slide into the starting lineup. It's worth noting that Hollins picked up a DNP-CD during the Kings' last game, while Evans logged 27 minutes, so he seems to be ahead of Hollins in the rotation. Evans is capable of hauling in gaudy rebounding totals, and he'll be a name to watch if listed as the starter on Friday.
Feb 26 - 4:02 PM

Tyson Chandler (hip contusion) said that he is hopeful to be able to suit up for Saturday's game vs. the Nets.

Chandler was unable to go on Wednesday, which resulted in Bernard James logging a season-high 27 minutes while putting up seven points, 11 rebounds and two blocks with the starting unit. If Chandler is again unable to go on Saturday, James would likely get another opportunity to start, and he'd make for a decent plug-and-play option with a favorable matchup against the Nets. Stay tuned.
Feb 26 - 3:49 PM

Nick Young (knee) did not participate during Thursday's practice, and said that he will not play Friday vs. the Bucks.

"I don’t think it’s serious," said Lakers coach Byron Scott of Young's knee injury. "But it’s serious enough that he might miss another game or two. I know it’s getting better and the swelling is going down." If Young does indeed sit out on Friday, Wayne Ellington, Wes Johnson, and Jeremy Lin will all see some increased opportunity on offense.
Feb 26 - 3:40 PM

Kenneth Faried (thumb) is likely to play Friday vs. the Jazz.

Faried's play has fallen off greatly during the month of February with averages of just 8.1 points and 6.8 rebounds on 40.3 percent shooting from the field through 23.4 minutes of action. However, with Jusuf Nurkic (ankle) out and Darrell Arthur (calf) being listed as doubtful, Faried will likely be forced into heavy minutes on Friday, and hopefully he can bust out of his month long slump.
Feb 26 - 3:36 PM

Jusuf Nurkic (ankle) will not suit up for Friday's game vs. Utah, as expected.

With Nurkic unavailable, and Darrell Arthur (calf) being listed as doubtful, J.J. Hickson and Kenneth Faried are going to be logging heavy minutes on Friday. It's also possible that Wilson Chandler (groin) plays some minutes at power forward, but Denver is simply running out of options. Faried is going to have a lot of opportunity on Friday, so hopefully he can finally bust out of his slump.
Feb 26 - 3:31 PM

Darrell Arthur (calf strain) is being listed as doubtful for Friday's game vs. the Jazz.

Arthur only lasted three minutes during his last outing, and with season averages of 7.3 points and 3.2 rebounds on 40.8 percent shooting from the field, it's safe to leave Arthur on the wire in most leagues. With both Arthur and Jusuf Nurkic (ankle) unavailable for Friday, J.J. Hickson and Kenneth Faried are going to see heavy minutes.
Feb 26 - 3:23 PM

C.J. Miles (foot) did not participate during Thursday's practice, and head coach Frank Vogel said that he was hopeful to have him available for Friday's game vs. the Cavs.

If Miles is forced to sit on Friday, Rodney Stuckey will get all the run he can handle, although he'd remain a risky play in daily leagues as he's battled with consistency all season long. Solomon Hill would also have more opportunity for playing time if Miles is unavailable, but he too has struggled with consistency this season, and would make for a risky option in daily leagues. Stay tuned.
Feb 26 - 3:19 PM

Darren Collison will reportedly undergo surgery to repair a core muscle injury on Tuesday, and he will likely remain sidelined for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.

Collison will be re-evaluated in 3-6 weeks after undergoing surgery, but with the fantasy playoffs looming and multiple reports stating that his season is likely over, it's probably safe at this point to drop Collison in standard leagues. Ray McCallum and Andre Miller will split minutes at the point guard spot with Collison sidelined, but neither guy makes for a strong add in standard leagues.
