Russell Westbrook had surgery on his torn lateral right meniscus on Saturday and will miss the rest of the playoffs.

"Russell's health and well being are obviously our number one priority," GM Sam Presti said. The surgery is to repair the meniscus and not remove it, which results in a longer recovery. It's a smart move and the Thunder made it clear they're in it for the long haul when they traded away James Harden back in October 2012. Westbrook should be ready to go for the start of the 2013-14 season and Saturday's game will be the first DNP of his productive career. We'd still consider him to be a great pick in the first half of the first round of standard fantasy drafts. Reggie Jackson is having a small breakout this season and he'll be charged with handling the point guard duties. Kevin Durant is going to have to shoot the ball more and the Thunder still have a chance to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals.

Dante Exum will come off the bench for Australia at the World Cup of Basketball.

Team Australia begins group play at the World Cup on Sunday against Team Slovenia and head coach Andrej Lemanis is expected to utilize Exum off the bench. "Having Dante come off the bench and make an impact is something which is good for us," Lemanis said. Exum may see a similar role with the Utah Jazz as he acclimates to playing in the NBA, so fantasy owners would be wise to wait until the end of their drafts to take a flier on the Australian.

Stephon Marbury will play himself in a musical titled, "I Am Stephon Marbury" that is set to open in Beijing this fall.

After a turbulent NBA career, Marbury has found a second home in Beijing after leading the Beijing Ducks to back-to-back national championships. The musical will run for 11 consecutive nights during the fall and will feature Marbury as a musician who arrives in Beijing in search of fame and is inspired to beat the odds by watching Marbury lead the Ducks to their first-ever championship during the 2011-12 season. We're still awaiting word on if Panda Friend will be in attendance for the opener.

Sixers GM Sam Hinkie didn't close the door on Joel Embiid (foot) playing during the 2014-15 season.

If Emiid does play, it will be in the 2015 part of the 2014-15 season as he's still in a walking boot. "I don't know at this point," Hinkie said. "Right now, he's in Philly and visiting with a variety of our medical professionals and going through tests. We want to know how we can be sure to put him in a position to have a long NBA career." While we could see Embiid in the tail part of the regular season, redraft owners shouldn't bother using a pick on him.

Warriors sign G Leandro Barbosa.

Barbosa's deal with be for one year at the veteran minimum as he joins his fifth NBA team. The 31-year-old averaged 7.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 20 games with the Suns last season, so his fantasy value is virtually non-existent as a role player for the Warriors.

The Heat signed G/F Shannon Brown on a one-year, $1.3 million deal.

It sounds like a guaranteed deal and he should make the team. Miami has some serious concerns on the wing with the oft-injured trio of Dwyane Wade, Danny Granger and Luol Deng expected to lead the way. Brown will compete with Shawne Williams, Reggie Williams and rookie James Ennis for playing time. He's not worth drafting in almost any format.

Doc Rivers and the Clippers have agreed to a contract which will keep Rivers in L.A. through the end of the 2019 season.

Terms of the deal haven't been disclosed, but it's a new contract rather than an extension, and it would be surprising if Rivers isn't the highest-paid coach in the NBA. "This is an important day for this organization," said new owner Steve Ballmer. "Not only is Doc one of the best coaches and executives in the game, but he continually embodies the hard core, committed and resilient character and winning culture that the Clippers represent. It was one of my top priorities to ensure that he was firmly in place as the long-term leader of this team."

Dion Waiters has been studying video of Dwyane Wade to learn how he adapted to playing alongside LeBron James.

"With a guy like [LeBron], he can open up the floor for you and give you a lot of opportunities," Waiters said. "When I get the opportunity to get the ball, I've got to destroy my opponent. The rest of the floor is going to be so wide open that, once I get by him, the rest of it should be easy." Waiters has a good chance to improve upon his career 42.4 percent shooting with LeBron guiding the offense, but it's also likely that his usage rate will take a dive from 26.9 percent last season.

Michael Carter-Williams (shoulder surgery) has not yet been cleared for five-on-five workouts with contact, according to 76ers GM Sam Hinkie.

Carter-Williams is "working out hard" and expects to be healthy for training camp, but for now he faces medical restrictions. He missed 12 games last season but he won Rookie of the Year after averaging 16.7 points, 0.8 threes, 6.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. If he can stay healthy he should be a reliable top-50 fantasy option, especially in leagues which don't penalize turnovers.

Carlos Delfino's surgically-repaired foot is not healing properly, and the Clippers may waive him via the "stretch provision."

Delfino would be a useful rotation player if healthy, but as things stand the Clippers can reduce his salary-cap amount over several years and thereby clear space for one or two minimum-salary free agents (Chris Douglas-Roberts and Ekpe Udoh have been mentioned as possible targets). Delfino has already had two surgeries on his foot and it sounds like his 2014-15 season is in jeopardy.

The Clippers have agreed to trade Jared Dudley and a future first-round pick to the Bucks, in exchange for Carlos Delfino and Miroslav Raduljica.

Dudley is owed $8.5 million over the next two seasons, whereas Delfino and Raduljica have a combined $4.8 million in guaranteed salary left on their deals, so the Clippers used their first-round draft pick to entice Milwaukee to take on the extra money. Dudley is a proficient 3-point shooter but he faces stiff competition for playing time from guys like Jabari Parker, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Fantasy owners can safely ignore him on draft day.

The Cavaliers are still trying to acquire Timofey Mozgov, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

As the Cavs continue their search for a center to backup Anderson Varejao, their search is focused on the Nuggets' Mozgov and Kosta Koufos of the Memphis Grizzlies. Windhorst adds that the Cavs have been trying to acquire Mozgov for the last six to eight weeks while the Grizzlies are reluctant to part with Koufos due to Marc Gasol's injury last season. Mozgov wouldn't have much fantasy value in Cleveland, but a trade could open up more minutes for JaVale McGee and J.J. Hickson in Denver.
