Kirk Hinrich and Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau strongly disagreed with comments from TNT analyst Steve Kerr that Rose "maybe owes it to his teammates" to return from knee surgery.

"We don’t feel that way," said Hinrich, who can barely walk due to a calf injury. "It’s been a very difficult year for Derrick. I’ve never experienced any sort of injury like that. I’m not one to speak on how anybody else’s body feels. We know what kind of guy he is and what kind of teammate he is and we don’t feel that way." Kerr did defend the Bulls' and Rose's handling of the injury and said he should only return "if Derrick is OK and there's no threat to further injury." Rose has been medically cleared by the team's doctors but remains out for at least the first round of the playoffs. At this point, I think we all just want this saga to end -- one way or the other.

George Hill led the Kings to a 93-88 win over Dallas on Friday with 21 points in 32 minutes.

De'Aaron Fox got all the headlines for his strong opener, but this is still Hill's backcourt (at least for now). He finished an impressive 9-of-12 from the field and added five rebounds, two assists, two steals and three 3-pointers. Fox had nine points and 10 dimes in 26 minutes and both players can coexist on the court, so expect to see more two-PG lineups going forward. Hill will be a fun player to own until the tank gets rolling.

Al-Farouq Aminu was terrific against the Pacers on Friday with 16 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, no turnovers and two 3-pointers in 35 minutes.

Despite coach Terry Stotts' best efforts, we now know Aminu will be starting in every game as the power forward while he's healthy. There was talk of him playing some SF, but that's not happening and he's done very well early. Although, the matchups were good ones, Aminu still looks like a player that needs to be owned in all leagues.

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Dennis Smith Jr. (left knee effusion) has "a little swelling" and confirmed that he won't play on Saturday in Houston.

The good news is that the injury is not believed to be serious, so hopefully he'll be back after the weekend. His fantasy owners can expect an update on his knee no later than Monday afternoon before their game against GSW. In the meantime, J.J. Barea (nine points, 10 assists) and Yogi Ferrell (14 points) will hold down the fort in the backcourt.
Oct 20 - 11:09 PM

Rodney Hood was diagnosed with a left calf strain and will be re-evaluted with an MRI on Saturday morning.

If this diagnosis holds up, this would be a huge relief for the Jazz. It's also worth noting that the Jazz have ruled out an Achilles injury. Still, it wouldn't be surprising at all if he misses time because he had to be carried off the floor by his teammates. His owners should sit tight until we get an update on Saturday, but look for Alec Burks and Donovan Mitchell to see more minutes if Hood misses time.
Oct 20 - 10:56 PM

Dwight Howard went off against his former Hawks team on Friday with 20 points (8-of-12 FGs), 10 rebounds and one block in 33 minutes.

Dewayne Dedmon and John Collins weren't able to contain Howard in the paint, but his night wasn't all good as he hit 4-of-8 free throws and turned the ball over six times. Cody Zeller wasn't able to play with a right knee bruise and could miss more time, so Howard will get a bump in minutes until his backup returns to action. If you're punting free throws, you should be happy with Howard's start as a Hornet.
Oct 20 - 10:51 PM

Frank Kaminsky bounced back on Friday vs. the Hawks with 21 points in 33 minutes.

Kaminsky had a quiet opener with four points on 1-of-9 shooting, but he had the hot hand tonight and shot 7-of-14 from the field with six rebounds, three assists, one steal and two 3-pointers. Kaminsky got a lot of extra run tonight, but it had more to do with Marvin Williams' (zero points on 0-of-6 shooting) poor shooting than Cody Zeller's injury -- Johnny O'Bryant got the backup center minutes. Kaminsky is a lukewarm pickup unless he keeps getting minutes at the expense of Williams.
Oct 20 - 10:23 PM

Kemba Walker dropped 26 points in a 109-91 win over the Hawks on Friday, shooting 6-of-13 from the field.

Walker also hit 10-of-12 from the line and has now hit 10+ free throws in two straight games -- he never hit more than nine free throws in a game last season. He added nine assists, four rebounds, one steal and four triples and helped the Hornets battle back from a 20-point deficit in the first half. He's now scored a combined 50 points through his first two games and his left knee doesn't seem to be a concern despite having three surgeries in three years.
Oct 20 - 10:16 PM

Derrick Rose sprained his ankle early in the fourth quarter of Friday's game in Milwaukee, and head coach Tyronn Lue said he's unlikely to play Saturday against Orlando.

Rose hit three of his four field-goal attempts while knocking down all six of his free throws to score a dozen points before departing. With Rose likely on the shelf, Jose Calderon could see plenty of action Saturday night against the Magic.
Oct 20 - 10:04 PM

Dennis Schroder's 25 points weren't enough in Friday's 109-91 loss to the Hornets.

He kept his foot on the gas after a 28-point opener, hitting 11-of-21 from the field with five assists, three rebounds, one steal and three turnovers in 32 minutes. The Hawks may not be very good this season, but Schroder has no real competition for minutes and should easily have a career year. He couldn't ask for a better matchup on Sunday vs. Brooklyn.
Oct 20 - 10:00 PM

Luol Deng is inactive for Friday's game vs. the Suns.

He's not injured, but he's either being rested or is completely out of the rotation after playing 13 minutes vs. the Clippers in the opener. The Lakers probably want that contract back.
Oct 20 - 9:19 PM

Corey Brewer will start against the Suns on Friday, moving Luol Deng to the bench.

Luke Walton said a change was coming, but this isn't one that fantasy owners will be excited about. Both Brewer and Deng will be irrelevant when Kentavious Caldwell-Pope returns from his suspension.
