J.R. Smith had a rough night in his return from a one-game suspension on Wednesday with 14 points, four boards, two assists and three 3-pointers.

He brought some attention on himself for his comments about how the Knicks would have closed out the series on Sunday. "Oh yeah, it would've been over," Smith said after practice Tuesday. "I'd have been playing golf [now]." Well, he certainly hit a lot of iron, shooting 3-of-14 from the field in the loss. Smith will look to rebound in Game 6 on Friday.

Chandler Parsons (knee) is expected to be in the starting lineup vs. the Rockets on Sunday.

Parsons missed the final six games of the regular season due to pain and swelling in his knee, but it looks like he is ready to go after going through a full practice on Friday, Parsons will likely have to spend some time defending James Harden, but his minutes will likely be held in check as he regains his conditioning.

Joel Embiid was reportedly fined thousands of dollars for showing up late and missing multiple rehab sessions this season.

Head coach Brett Brown recently said that he questioned Embiid's work ethic at times this season, so this report likely has some validity. This is definitely a story that he will continue to follow, and if you factor in the uncertainties surrounding his foot injury, he will be a high-risk, high-reward option next season. Hopefully, we will get a good chance to evaluate him at the summer league if he is cleared to play.
Apr 18 - 10:13 AM

Head coach Terry Stotts said that Allen Crabbe could get the nod over C.J. McCollum in the first unit because of his defense.

"I think Allen complements Damian [Lillard] and [LaMarcus Aldridge]," Stotts said, "as far as being defensive minded, not needing shots, not needing the ball." This isn't that surprising, as Stotts has been known to frequently alter his rotations. McCollum could still see close to 30 minutes of action, as he has simply been too good to keep off the floor. If Arron Afflalo returns from his shoulder injury soon, Crabbe will likely fall out of the rotation, while McCollum's role should still be safe.

Larry Sanders was reportedly in Milwaukee this week, but sources close to him say that he doesn't have any desire to play professional basketball again.

Sanders has some personal issues to work through and recently said that he quit basketball to find his true purpose in life, so it doesn't sound like we will see him in the NBA any time soon. There is too much uncertainly surrounding Sanders to consider drafting him next season, but we will monitor this situation very closely in the off-season.
Apr 18 - 9:19 AM

Jeff Green (back) is questionable for Game 1 against the Blazers on Sunday.

Sources have intimated that Tony Allen (hamstring) is the only Grizzlies player to be in jeopardy and he'll probably do anything he can to get on the court. Among the group of banged up players in Memphis, Green's injury status has been a back-burner issue so owners may want to use him as they normally would.
Apr 17 - 10:27 PM

David Lee (back) will not play against the Pelicans on Saturday.

That means Festus Ezeli should be in the rotation along with Marreese Speights. Lee's back injury kept him out of action on Wednesday and the Warriors won't need him to kick off the first round. Draymond Green's minutes may also go up slightly.
Apr 17 - 5:40 PM

Nicolas Batum (knee) said he will play against the Grizzlies in Game 1 on Sunday.

He only had a knee bruise and he only needed to miss one game. Batum was logging minutes around 40 to close the season and he could be in that neighborhood in this series. Batum's numbers were awful against the Grizzlies in four games this season, averaging 6.5 points 4.5 boards, 2.5 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 treys on 32.4 percent from the field.
Apr 17 - 4:14 PM

Chandler Parsons (knee) is being listed as questionable for Game 1 against the Rockets on Saturday.

Parsons played some 1-on-1 on Thursday, and head coach Rick Carlisle implied that Parsons would be a go for Game 1, so things are progressing in a positive direction. We'll continue to monitor this situation closely, but if Parsons is unavailable, Richard Jefferson would draw the start with Al-Farouq Aminu logging extended minutes off the bench. Stay tuned.
Apr 17 - 2:25 PM

Devin Harris (toe) has been downgraded to questionable for Game 1 against the Rockets on Saturday.

Rick Carlisle said on Thursday that Harris would play, so we're going to assume he's closer to probable than questionable. However, if he's forced to sit, it will open up minutes for J.J. Barea and Raymond Felton. Barea makes for the better daily league target sans Harris.
Apr 17 - 2:21 PM

Mike Conley (foot) and Tony Allen (hamstring) practiced on Friday.

Conley expects to play and he'll likely be a game-time decision on Sunday. He has been able to do some pre-game stuff, so keeping him out the last week is probably somewhat precautionary. He'll be a very important piece for the Grizzlies at home considering the struggles of Damian Lillard on defense. Beno Udrih would move to the bench.
Apr 17 - 2:20 PM

Alan Anderson (ankle) said he'll be good to go for Game 1 against the Hawks on Sunday.

All signs are pointing towards Anderson being available, which dampens the value of Bajon Bogdanovic. He should see his minutes in the mid-20s if is indeed able to play on Sunday.
