Festus Ezeli will miss six to nine months after undergoing knee surgery.

Ezeli suffered a sprained right knee at the end of the regular season. The Warriors said he needed surgery to reinforce the MCL and PCL ligaments in his right knee. Unfortunately for Golden State, the timeline makes it unlikely that Ezeli will return before Christmas and could be sidelined for most of next season.

Anthony Morrow (knee) will miss the start of the season due to a sprained left MCL.

Ouch. The Thunder are having a rough October on the wing and this news basically means Andre Roberson and Perry Jones will be the starting wings, assuming the team wants to bring Reggie Jackson off the bench. The Thunder have not made a prognosis, but it could be at least a couple weeks until Morrow is back. Fantasy owners can give Jones a look in 14-team leagues, Roberson in 16-reamers and Jeremy Lamb in deep leagues. Russell Westbrook is going to be busy.

Rajon Rondo (hand) went through a full practice on Friday without any setbacks.

There is a chance he can play in the opener on Wednesday. Rondo has been doing some non-contact practice and there shouldn't be any conditioning issues, so it's likely a 50/50 call right now. He still had the worst season of his career last year, so there is still some question to his output on a per-game basis.
Oct 24 - 4:41 PM

Larry Sanders went through a non-contact practice on Friday.

He said he "thinks" he'll be ready for the opener, which doesn't sound too encouraging. Sanders had an undisclosed minor surgery last week and the Bucks continue to keep secrets from the basketball world. He's worth a look late for his upside in blocks as long as you're not passing on better late-round prospects.
Oct 24 - 3:49 PM

LaMarcus Aldridge (groin) will not play against the Clippers on Friday.

He did downplay the injury at shootaround and expects to be ready for opening night. "I don't think it's that serious," Aldridge said." Just trying to be cautious right now. It's a little tender, just being safe." He had a groin injury last season and had two surgeries on his hip earlier in his career. This is also the third preseason in a row LMA entered the season with some injury concerns. He is a risky second-round target, but his owners should expect him to be ready for the opener.
Oct 24 - 3:18 PM

Lionel Hollins said that he thinks Brook Lopez (foot) will be ready for opening night, but it will ultimately be up to the doctors to clear him.

Hollins added that he prefers Lopez be able to practice before the regular-season opener, but if he is healthy, he will play. This is an encouraging report, but given Lopez' extensive history with right foot injuries, he still remains an extremely risky top-50 selection. However, those willing to take the plunge could be rewarded handsomely as Lopez is set to be a focal point of the Nets offense. Lopez made it through just 17 games last season, but averaged 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game.
Oct 24 - 2:03 PM

Victor Oladipo will be out indefinitely after suffering a facial fracture during Thursday's practice.

Oladipo received an accidental elbow to the face during Thursday's practice, and is set to undergo surgery on Saturday. This is a devastating blow for one of our favorite breakout candidates, and this news likely means that Evan Fournier will be the starting two-guard, with Ben Gordon seeing minutes off the bench. We'll wait for more news on this situation, but this bumps Victor out of top-60 consideration in standard leagues. It has been an offseason of injuries for the NBA this year.
Oct 24 - 10:45 AM

Anthony Davis returned from his wrist injury and played 21 minutes against the Mavericks on Thursday, scoring 13 points with six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.

He dodged a bullet from his sprained wrist on Monday, but he's good to go. In his last four, Davis averaged 20.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 0.8 steals in just 24.8 minutes per game. Yes, he can fill a stat sheet and is worth taking at the top spot of your fantasy draft, assuming you're OK with taking a risk.
Oct 24 - 12:16 AM

Spencer Dinwiddie looked fantastic in his pro debut during a 109-103 win over the 76ers, making 2-of-4 from the field for eight points with six assists and two 3-pointers in 16 minutes.

Not a bad way to start at all. Dinwiddie was a lottery talent last season, but his season was cut short at Colorado due to an ACL tear and it caused him to slide to the second round. He was coach Stan Van Gundy's first pick and chances are he could get minutes if the Pistons start losing a lot of games. To be clear, he's only an option in very deep leagues as a stash guy.
Oct 24 - 12:02 AM

Kyle Singler scored a game-high 19 points against the Sixers on Thursday with three rebounds, three steals and four 3-pointers.

Yes, this line comes with a grain of salt when "against the Sixers" is in the opening sentence, but Singler has made it clear he deserves minutes. If Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (knee) isn't healthy, the Duke product should be a factor in fantasy leagues. He's still not a terrific target in standard leagues at this time.
Oct 23 - 11:54 PM

Caron Butler scored 18 points with eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes against the 76ers on Friday.

He's a possible starter on opening night for the Pistons and coach Stan Van Gundy seems to like Butler for his range. Of course, he won't get many minutes given he's 34 and hurt a lot, so he's only a target in deeper leagues.
Oct 23 - 11:49 PM

Josh Smith flirted with a triple-double against the 76ers on Thursday with 17 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes.

It was easily his best game and it came with Greg Monroe getting some rest. Smith still only made 38.2 percent from the field in his previous three games and his shot selection isn't much better, so he's still very unlikely to be above 45 percent this season. Plus, he's made just 47.6 percent at the line this month. Besides the shooting, Smith should be very good, so he's worth a look in the middle rounds.
