Timberwolves waive C Greg Stiemsma.

It was an expected move before his contract became guaranteed. Stiemsma started 19 games for the injured Wolves last season, scoring 6.5 points with 5.6 boards and 1.3 blocks in 25.3 minutes in those outings. He'll latch on with another team once the smoke clears with the bigger free agents.

Updating a previous report, Nikola Mirotic has two broken bones in his face.

He was also evaluated for a concussion, but he has been released from the hospital. According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, the early estimate for his timetable is a few weeks. With Bobby Portis likely to be suspended, rookie Lauri Markkanen could be looking at a significant workload and is worth picking up in standard leagues.

Nikola Mirotic (fractured bone in face) is out indefinitely after he was hospitalized following an altercation with Bobby Portis at practice on Tuesday.

Details are trickling in, but here is what we know, courtesy of The Vertical's Shams Charania: "Mirotic was taken to the hospital Tuesday after their shoving altercation during practice ended with an alleged cheap shot from Portis to Mirotic’s face. Mirotic is undergoing tests, but is expected to be out for the foreseeable future." Rookie Lauri Markkanen may be forced into the starting lineup for the Bulls season opener. Bobby Portis, assuming he isn't suspended by the team, would also see an increase in playing time.

LeBron James (ankle) will play in Tuesday's season opener against the Celtics.

Head coach Tyronn Lue confirmed that King James won't be dealing with any sort of minutes restrictions tonight, so owners can feel free to fire him up for what should be an intense matchup against his former teammate, Kyrie Irving. Get your popcorn ready, the season is finally here.
Oct 17 - 6:26 PM

Bogdan Bogdanovic (ankle) is questionable to play in Wednesday's season opener against the Rockets.

Bogdanovic still hasn't been able to get through a full practice since going down with this ankle issue, so odds are he won't be taking the court on Wednesday night, which would translate to more minutes for guys like Buddy Hield, Garrett Temple and Justin Jackson. Check back for another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround.
Oct 17 - 6:02 PM

Andre Iguodala (back strain) has been ruled out for Tuesday's season opener against Houston.

Iguodala's back issues don't sound serious, but the Dubs will play it safe with him early on in the season. With Iggy on the sidelines, we should see more Patrick McCaw and Nick Young, but that doesn't mean much in fantasy hoops with Golden State's core-four healthy.
Oct 17 - 5:46 PM

Alex Len (foot) is listed as questionable for the season opener vs. Portland on Wednesday.

This is the first we are hearing of a foot issue for Len, who played very well during the preseason. He averaged 14.6 points (on 65.8 percent shooting) 7.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.6 blocks over Phoenix's five preseason contests. With Alan Williams (knee) out indefinitely, the Suns have limited depth at center. If Len is sidelined, starter Tyson Chandler will see an uptick in playing time. Phoenix would also likely play Marquese Chriss and Dragan Bender additional minutes at center.
Oct 17 - 5:45 PM

Kawhi Leonard (right quad) has officially been ruled out for San Antonio's season opener against Minnesota on Wednesday.

Leonard was never expected to play, and the Spurs have yet to release an official timetable for his return, which is certainly concerning. Thus far, Leonard hasn't done much more than shoot free throws at practice, so it doesn't seem like his return is right around the corner. Kyle Anderson and Rudy Gay will pick up the slack in his absence, with Gay being the more attractive fantasy target.
Oct 17 - 5:35 PM

Guerschron Yabusele (illness) has been ruled out for Tuesday's season opener against Cleveland.

The Celtics will be without both Marcus Morris and Yabusele for their opening night matchup against the Eastern Conference champs, so Jayson Tatum could be forced into heavy minutes at the four-spot tonight. We could also see brief appearances by Daniel Theis and Semi Ojeleye in the rotation, but Tatum is the guy you want to target in most leagues.
Oct 17 - 5:07 PM

Shabazz Napier (hamstring) has been cleared for Portland's season opener vs. Phoenix on Wednesday.

Napier missed most of camp and all of the preseason with this hamstring issue, but he's been able to get through full-contact work for the past three days, so it looks the hamstring thing is behind him. Head coach Terry Stotts mentioned that Napier could be a potential starter on opening night with C.J. McCollum (suspension) unavailable, although we'd expect Evan Turner to earn the starting nod. Even in a spot-start, it's tough to see Napier producing much fantasy value.
Oct 17 - 4:19 PM

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (personal) has officially been ruled out for Wednesday's season opener against the Pistons.

It'll either be Dwayne Bacon or Jeremy Lamb replacing MKG in the starting five for Wednesday night's game, but Steve Clifford won't be revealing his starters until we're closer to tipoff. The Hornets have not yet provided a timetable for Kidd-Cilchrist's return, and we still don't know exactly why he's away from the team, but hopefully he can sort out this personal issue relatively soon. Between Lamb and Bacon, Lamb is the more attractive fantasy option.
Oct 17 - 4:14 PM

Julius Randle (ribs) went through everything except the 5-on-5 aspects of Tuesday's practice.

Luke Walton was optimistic regarding Randle's status for Thursday's game, saying he looked good in the half court sets and was fine after taking some hits to the rib area, so things are trending in a positive direction here. Randle also said he felt great after practice and expects to suit up for Thursday's game, and while he may not be starting on opening night, he should still see quality minutes in Los Angeles this season.
