The Lakers will reportedly amnesty Metta World Peace according to Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register.

The Lakers will save about $15-20 million in salary and tax on the transaction, and now MWP will go on the open market as a declining veteran small forward that can shoot threes and push people around. Beyond that, his defense has declined and injuries are beginning to pile up.

Damian Lillard scored 27 points during a 124-76 win in Phoenix on Wednesday, adding five rebounds, five assists, one steal, four 3-pointers and matched his career-high three blocks.

The Blazers set the record for the largest opening night margin of victory in NBA history, and it's also the second-largest win in Blazers history. Lillard didn't need to play at all in the fourth quarter as Dame's 27-foot jumper with four seconds left at the end of the third giving the Blazers a 98-55 lead. Lillard saw his usage rate and efficiency rise in the second half last year, so he is poised for a monster year at age 27.

LaMarcus Aldridge continued his impressive run on Wednesday with 25 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 39 minutes vs. the Wolves.

Aldridge looked great all preseason, San Antonio recently inked him to a three-year extension, and Gregg Popovich took the blame for LA's struggles since joining the Spurs -- "He just didn’t feel comfortable and it’s 98.75% on me." The offense is now geared toward giving Aldridge room to operate in his comfort zones, mostly at the elbow, but owners should still expect a dip once Kawhi Leonard (quad) gets back on the court.

Pat Connaughton scored a career-high 24 points against the Suns on Wednesday with two rebounds, two assists and four 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

Just a few months ago there was some talk that Connaughton would switch to baseball, so apparently he made the right call. Although, it helped the Blazers picked up his $1.4 million option in August. Great story aside, he'll lose most of his minutes when C.J. McCollum comes off suspension to face the Pacers on Friday.
Oct 19 - 2:49 AM

Rodney Hood (illness) didn't start on Wednesday, and he finished with just six points, two boards and two 3-pointers in 18 minutes.

A stomach bug caused Hood to stay in the locker room to begin the game, but his starting role should be safe despite Utah's affinity for rookie guard Donovan Mitchell. We're chalking up Hood's low playing time to the illness, and will let you know if there's more to the story. In case it's not clear, Hood is a definite 'hold' everywhere.
Oct 19 - 2:08 AM

Grizzlies rookie Dillon Brooks went off in his debut on Wednesday, scoring 19 points with five rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocks in 29 minutes off the bench.

Brooks showed flashes of potential in the preseason, but nothing suggested he'd post a well-rounded fantasy line in his NBA debut. JaMychal Green's early exit opened up the rotation, and starters James Ennis and Andrew Harrison did little to advance their own cause tonight, so credit to the rookie for taking full advantage. Grab him if you have a likely roster spot, but don't cut a reliable player for him after one (very) nice game.
Oct 19 - 1:51 AM

DeMarcus Cousins blocked a career-high seven shots during Wednesday's season-opening loss, adding 28 points, 10 rebounds, three 3-pointers and a pair of assists.

Alvin Gentry emphasized that he wants to deploy Cousins and Anthony Davis together as often as possible this season, despite the league's shift toward smaller lineups. For fantasy purposes, they've already proven that they can co-exist as elite options, and Boogie's owners can't have asked for more than a career-high in blocks on opening night. He's healthy and ready to roll.
Oct 19 - 1:48 AM

Anthony Davis (strep throat) had 33 points, 18 rebounds, one 3-pointer and one block vs. Memphis on Wednesday, making 9-of-23 field goals and 14-of-17 free throws in 40 minutes.

The Pelicans were supposedly watching AD's minutes, but his illness obviously didn't limit him. He did take a hit to his left leg tonight, causing some scary moments for fantasy owners, but he never left the game. This is a pristine example of his fantasy upside, especially if he continues to knock down free throws -- he's never shot better than 80.5 percent in a season, but recently sank 22-of-23 freebies in a preseason game.
Oct 19 - 1:47 AM

Dennis Schroder scored 28 points with two rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 34 minutes against the Mavs on Wednesday.

His usage splits were a lot higher while Paul Millsap was on the bench last year and he saw a nice increase during the preseason, so making 13-of-26 from the field really isn't a surprise. He shredded the Mavs defense with plenty of drives and he'll be asked to lead this team in scoring. Schroder may have nights when he misses a number of shots, but Schroder could have a career season.
Oct 19 - 1:41 AM

Gordon Hayward (left leg surgery) is unlikely to return this season, according to his agent.

Hayward had surgery on Wednesday to repair his dislocated and fractured left tibia. "We expect him to make a full recovery and return to his All-Star form," said his agent, Mark Bartelstein. It's a sad turn of events and we wish Hayward a speedy recovery. In his absence, the Celtics are expected to start Marcus Smart while relying more on a slew of players including Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Morris and Terry Rozier. Swingman Abdel Nader, a second-round pick in 2016, was actually the Celts' first man off the bench on Wednesday.
Oct 19 - 1:25 AM

John Collins scored 14 points during his NBA debut against the Mavs on Wednesday, adding five rebounds, one assist, two steals and one turnover in 22 minutes.

We saw a good amount of run at center from Collins in this game and the Hawks second unit saved the day after getting worked in the preseason. Collins was one of the best rookies at summer league and getting minutes at two positions suggests he'll get to 24 minutes sooner than later. He should be owned in 12-team leagues and his owners may see dividends sooner than expected.
Oct 19 - 1:21 AM

Marco Belinelli scored 20 points with three rebounds, three assists, three steals and four 3-pointers in 26 minutes against the Mavs on Wednesday.

He was on fire and was the MVP of this game for the Hawks to lead the second unit. He had more 3-point makes and attempts than the entire starting five combined, so maybe coach Mike Budenholzer has found his new Kyle Korver. Belinelli is going to have to bury treys to have fantasy value, but he's worth a look in 14-team leagues on a team dying for shooting.
