Cavaliers waive forward Kevin Jones.

The Cavs cut ties with both Jones and guard Chris Quinn on Friday after both players suffered concussions during summer league. Jones spent last season traversing between the D-League and the NBA.

Roy Hibbert did not score in 24 minutes against the Nuggets on Saturday with five rebounds and four turnovers.

"I couldn’t get into a rhythm, I just haven’t been playing the way I have been," Hibbert said. Uh oh, here we go again. Hibbert had a tremendous start in 2013-14 and fizzled out worse than leaving a bottle of soda open for a day, and he might be doing it again. In his last five, he's averaged 6.6 points, 5.4 boards, 0.6 blocks and 2.0 turnovers on 33.3 percent from the field. It's not time to repeatedly press the panic button yet, but his fantasy owners should be on alert.
Dec 21 - 12:18 AM

Rajon Rondo had an underwhelming Dallas debut on Saturday, making 3-of-11 from the field for six points with seven rebounds, nine assists, two steals and four turnovers.

He was a bystander as Monta had it all. Rondo's shot selection wasn't great tonight and the Mavericks might want him to dial down his mid-range jumpers if they want to remain No. 1 in offensive efficiency. The Celtics led the NBA in pace while he was there -- Dallas was 11th at the time of the trade -- while Rondo is posting career lows in several categories, so it's hard to get too excited about his fantasy value in standard leagues. He's obviously still worth owning, though.
Dec 21 - 12:02 AM

Monta Ellis dominated down the stretch against the Spurs during a 99-93 win with 38 points, one assist, four steals and five 3-pointers in 40 minutes.

It was Monta Time. He scored 11 of the last 13 points for the Mavericks, which is no surprise since he leads the NBA in field goals in the second half. Ellis has been a much better ball handler than Rajon Rondo this year and his turnover rate is his best ever while he has tremendous rapport with the rest of the starters. The Mavericks lead the NBA in offensive efficiency because of Monta, so don't expect that too change much.
Dec 20 - 11:50 PM

Aron Baynes scored a career-high 16 points with 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and four turnovers against the Mavericks on Saturday.

He keeps getting better in the starting lineup. In his previous five starts, Baynes averaged 10.8 points, 7.4 boards and 0.2 blocks in 26.4 minutes per game. It's becoming quite clear Baynes will be worth a look as a low-end fantasy option on the nights Tim Duncan gets his rest. On the other hand, he's not going to thrive while TD is playing, so Baynes is not worth owning in most leagues.
Dec 20 - 11:34 PM

James Harden needed to go to the locker room in the first half due to a hamstring injury on Saturday and did return in the second quarter, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds, 14 assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers during a 104-97 loss.

He played 39 minutes and the injury didn't seem to bother him much. The Rockets are off until Monday when they'll get a much anticipated rematch against the Blazers, so Harden owners can expect him to suit up for that one. Of course there is a chance he deals with soreness.
Dec 20 - 10:45 PM

Derrick Favors played just 18 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Hornets, finishing with 13 points, five boards, two assists and one block.

There is no injury to worry about, and it was coach Quin Snyder's decision to keep him on the bench. The Jazz were blown out in this one, so this line should be taken with a grain of salt. Favors exploded for 23 points and 10 boards on Wednesday, so he should be able to bounce back in his next game. Keep him active in all lineups.
Dec 20 - 10:37 PM

Rudy Gobert grabeed his first career double-double in Saturday's loss to the Hornets, finishing with 11 points, 12 boards, one steal and two blocks in 30 minutes.

This was a fantastic showing for Gobert, and this is the kind of line he can drop when he is given the minutes. This game reiterates the fact that Gobert should be owned in all leagues going forward, and he will only get better as his role grows towards the end of the season.
Dec 20 - 10:32 PM

Danny Green and Tiago Splitter have been benched for Saturday's game against the Mavericks.

He was not listed in the starting lineup and coach Gregg Popovich just kept them on the bench. Green has played magnificent basketball and certainly deserved the night off. He's been the biggest steal of fantasy drafts and should get it going on Monday against the Clippers.
Dec 20 - 10:19 PM

DeMarcus Cousins (illness) is probable to play against the Lakers on Sunday.

It would be a shock to see him sit out based on how terrific he looked in his return on Thursday. Cousins refused to take a minutes limit and played 33 minutes, so he'll probably be around 35-37. He's going to have a late supper and eat big time. Start him.
Dec 20 - 9:57 PM

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist double-doubled in a win over the Jazz on Saturday, finishing with 13 points, 11 boards, two assists, one steal and three blocks in 33 minutes.

He was fantastic all game long and was an absolute pest on the defensive end. MKG shot 4-of-8 from the field on Saturday, and has shown a lot of growth in his shooting technique. The minutes are going to be there for him from here on out, and it's time for standard league owners to take notice.
Dec 20 - 9:53 PM

Al Jefferson tweaked his groin in Saturday's win over the Jazz, finishing with 19 points, 10 boards and one assist in 27 minutes.

He suffered the injury in the fourth quarter and did not return, but Big Al said after the game that he could have played if the team needed him. The injury doesn't appear to be serious, so we will leave him off of the injury report for now. However, owners will still want to check back before Monday's game against Denver to make sure that he is good to go.
