The Bucks signed second-round pick Nate Wolters on Thursday.

Wolters was the 38th overall pick of June's draft out of South Dakota State. The Bucks acquired the pick via Washington as part of the Glen Rice, Jr. trade. Wolters averaged 22 points and 5.6 rebounds per game as a junior and should spend most of the season in the D-League.

Derrick Rose looked explosive as he scored 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting (including four threes) with five rebounds and three assists in just 24 minutes against the Cavs on Monday.

So much for Rose flying under the radar now. He did not have a steal or block and his non-scoring numbers weren't great, but the important part is that he had the same type of explosion we've seen in the past (including last preseason). With ADP around the turn between the second and third rounds, he's still a big time risk and it's uncertain what his ceiling will be playing on a team with strong complementary players.

Anthony Davis suffered a sprained right wrist in Monday's preseason game and will not return.

That's probably doubtful and let's say right off the bat that the beat writers are saying he doesn't appear to be in any pain. We'll update you as soon as we get a handle on this and owners should keep the needle still until we hear of a legitimate reason to be concerned.
Oct 20 - 9:01 PM

Jose Calderon left Monday's exhibition with a strained right calf and did not return.

All indications are that this is a precautionary decision and we'll let you know if that's not the case.

Kawhi Leonard (eye) is out for Monday's game and is dealing with a "strong strain" of the virus in his eye, according to coach Gregg Popovich.

"He had a really strong strain of whatever virus it is," Popovich said. "He's still out and they're going to re-evaluate [Tuesday]." Leonard is expected to miss much of the preseason and he is questionable to start the season. There has been no indication that he has anything seriously wrong with his eye, so he shouldn't be knocked down your draft board because of his illness.
Oct 20 - 7:17 PM

Victor Oladipo (knee) returned to practice on Monday.

There was little doubt that he would miss time in the regular season and now he looks to be ready to go. Oladipo did sit in some portions of practice and he might miss another preseason game, but fantasy owners can draft him as if he's healthy. He's a breakout candidate and the shift to shooting guard should help.
Oct 20 - 7:08 PM

JaVale McGee (leg) could make his preseason debut on Tuesday vs. Portland, or on Friday vs. Golden State.

McGee has been going through full practices, and the team wants him to get some action before the regular season begins. However, McGee appears to have lost his starting job to Timofey Mozgov, and although he has plenty of upside, his bonehead decision-making often leads to him spending extended minutes on the bench. The Nuggets signed McGee to a huge four-year deal worth $44 million back in 2012, which could pressure head coach Brian Shaw to give the big man minutes. However, due to McGee's tendency to find himself sitting on the bench, partnered with the fact he'll likely be entering the 2014-15 season in a reserve role, he's not worth much more than a late-round flier in standard leagues.

According to head coach Brad Stevens, Rajon Rondo is "progressing great" from his broken hand, and there's a possibility he's able to suit up on opening night.

Rondo didn't want to put an official date on his return, but he did say that his hand hasn't been bothering him. "When I dribble the ball, when I catch the ball, it doesn’t bother me," said Rondo. "But it’s night and day from trying to brace myself hitting the floor, and going into the lane and somebody smacking my hand." Rondo has yet to do any contact work, but there's a possibility he's cleared for that by the end of the week. Boston is going to be very careful with Rondo's recovery, but it's looking like he's making great progress, and even if he's not able to go for opening night, he could return within the first week of the regular season. Stay tuned.
Oct 20 - 2:15 PM

Rajon Rondo (hand) said on Monday that he hasn't had any contact in practice yet.

He said he doesn't know if he'll be ready for the opener and he doesn't "wanna put any set goals." Rondo had been very optimistic before this quote, so chances are he'll likely miss at least a week of the regular season. He wasn't very good last year in reality with the Celtics only going 6-24 with Rondo and his value in fantasy has taken a hit, as well. Fantasy owners should let someone else deal with him.
Oct 20 - 12:18 PM

Nerlens Noel (illness) will not play against the Nets on Monday night.

Coach Brett Brown said that he's not concerned about Noel missing time because the rookie has been practicing. Noel has been out since Oct. 15 and has missed three games, but he should be ready for the season opener. Fantasy owners can target him in the middle rounds. Arnett Moultrie has stepped it up while Noel has been out.
Oct 20 - 12:08 PM

Brandon Knight (groin) and Zaza Pachulia (hamstring) will not play against the Knicks on Monday.

Knight has been out for over a week now with his strained right groin, but there's still hope for him to play in the season opener. Kendall Marshall hasn't played well sans Knight and is shooting just 4-of-15 in his last three games, so Knight still looks like the favorite to start at point guard. Knight is only a late-round target due to a lower upside.
Oct 20 - 11:59 AM

Anderson Varejao will start at center against the Bulls on Monday.

Tristan Thompson is coming off the bench tonight. Over the weekend, coach David Blatt said he was going to treat this game like a regular season contest, so this is a telling development if what he said was true. Varejao is hurt quite a bit, but he does offer higher upside than Thompson.
