Tom Thibodeau has stated "on more than one occasion" that Jimmy Butler will start at SG, but Butler is preparing to fight for the job in training camp.

"I feel like I'm not a starter yet," said Butler, adding that he'd be comfortable with a bench role. His humility and self-motivation are great to hear, but there are no real doubts about Butler's starting role now that Marco Belinelli is gone and Rip Hamilton is an unrestricted FA.

James Harden (calf) matched his career-high with 17 assists in Monday's win over the Pelicans, adding 26 points, one rebound, six steals, four triples and three turnovers.

That's the sixth time in his career that Harden has recorded 17 assists and all six of those games happened in 2016 or later. He was toying with the Pelicans' defense tonight and 11 of his assists were alley-oop lobs to Clint Capela. Arguably the frontrunner for the MVP Award, Harden will look to stay hot against a depleted Hornets team on Wednesday.
Dec 11 - 11:13 PM

Clint Capela scored a career-high 28 points on 13-of-14 shooting in Monday's 130-123 win over the Pelicans.

James Harden and Chris Paul were giving Capela easy looks around the rim all night and the Rockets destroyed the Pelicans with the pick-and-roll. Capela also limited DeMarcus Cousins to 24 points without Anthony Davis which is no easy task, and he also matched his career-high with five blocks to go with his eight rebounds in 24 minutes. Capela is a rising star in the NBA and is firmly in the discussion for the Most Improved Player Award.
Dec 11 - 11:03 PM

E'Twaun Moore dropped a career-high 36 points on 15-of-20 shots, but it wasn't enough in Monday's 130-123 loss to Houston.

Moore was feeling it tonight, hitting six of the Pelicans' franchise record of 18 triples. He dished out three assists with three rebounds and three turnovers and was one of three Pelicans who played 41 or more minutes. While this was a fluky line in a shootout, Moore was having a strong December prior to Monday with averages of 16.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 3.2 triples in that span. He's worth owning while he's hot, especially with Anthony Davis (thigh) banged up.
Dec 11 - 10:50 PM

Rajon Rondo triple-doubled with 13 points (5-of-12 FGs), 12 assists, 12 rebounds, three triples and eight turnovers in Monday's 130-123 loss to Houston.

That's the 30th triple-double of his career and that makes him the only player in the NBA to have at least one triple-double in each of the last 10 seasons. Rondo has really expanded his 3-point range in recent years and that's going to be huge for New Orleans' floor spacing -- he's hit three or more triples 16 times in his career and all of them have come after 2014. He played 42 minutes after playing 37 on Sunday, so hopefully the Pelicans are done watching his minutes.
Dec 11 - 10:43 PM

Jrue Holiday scored a season-high 37 points on 16-of-21 shooting in Monday's 130-123 loss to Houston.

He finished one point shy of his career-high and has been rolling, scoring 30+ points in three out of his last five games. Holiday usually eats when Anthony Davis (thigh) sits and that was the case tonight, as he has a 24.2 usage rate with Davis off the floor compared to 20.6 when he's playing. Holiday played 41 minutes for the second night in a row and his owners should expect more monster lines if Davis needs to miss more time.
Dec 11 - 10:36 PM

Nikola Mirotic started in place of Lauri Markkanen (back) on Monday and hit 9-of-14 shots, three 3-pointers and 3-of-6 free throws for 24 points, eight rebounds and a block in 32 minutes.

Miro hit 6-of-10 shots and five 3-pointers for 19 points on Saturday and has wasted no time getting back into the mix for the Bulls. Bobby Portis got off to a very hot start for the Bulls this season and then cooled off and it would not be surprising to see Mirotic follow the same path. But Fred Hoiberg is impressed, saying "Niko has been awesome. That's obviously an understatement." He's hot right now and probably worth adding if you have someone to cut, but he should continue to be a boom or bust fantasy player going forward.
Dec 11 - 10:34 PM

Jordan Bell and Omri Casspi will start alongside Shaun Livingston, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant on Monday vs. the Blazers.

With Draymond Green (shoulder) out tonight in addition to Zaza Pachulia (shoulder), Bell should be a strong streaming option in this one. As much as we love his upside, coach Steve Kerr has been reluctant to play him big minutes when Green has been active this season. After Monday's game, the Warriors only play more time this week.
Dec 11 - 10:02 PM

Evan Turner and Meyers Leonard are both starting for the Blazers again on Tuesday night.

With Moe Harkless and Jusuf Nurkic both banged up right now, the Blazers have had to get creative with their starting lineup. Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum and Al-Farouq Aminu will round out the starting five.
Dec 11 - 9:04 PM

Milos Teodosic (foot) will start on Monday vs. the Raptors.

He's back after a 22-game absence, but coach Doc Rivers said he will have a very strict minutes limit. Once Teodosic has a few games under his belt, he should be a really nice source of assists and should hold onto the starting job the rest of the way.
Dec 11 - 8:56 PM

Danilo Gallinari (left glute contusion) will not play on Monday vs. the Raptors.

One report indicated that Gallinari suffered a setback for the same injury that sidelined him for 13 games, but we have confirmed that this is the opposite glute. It's not clear how long Gallo will be out, but he's always been a slow healer and coach Doc Rivers indicated that he'll be out at least a couple game. Wes Johnson is probably the best pickup for his upside in defensive stats.
Dec 11 - 8:54 PM

Patrick McCaw (concussion) will play on Monday vs. the Blazers.

He has cleared the concussion protocol and said he feels "fine," and there's no word of any restrictions. McCaw could have some short-term value while Stephen Curry (ankle) is out, but the Warriors only play two games this week.
