Pistons president Joe Dumars said Brandon Jennings isn't guaranteed the starting point guard job.

Jennings will have to earn the job during camp and the preseason, fending off Chauncey Billups, Will Bynum and possibly Peyton Siva. While it's good to hear the Pistons aren't handing anything to Jennings, it would be a pretty big surprise if he loses the starting job to one of those three. Billups, at his age, is better suited to being a backup, while Bynum is more of a combo guard that seems better suited coming off the bench. Siva, meanwhile, isn't even a lock to make the team. We expect Jennings will get the starting gig, although it'll be worth watching to see what Billups has left in camp.

Deron Williams (hernia) intends to opt out of his contract with Dallas for the 2016-17 season.

He will look for a multi-year contract in free agency, but there is said to be mutual interest between Williams and Dallas for a return. "I would love to be back," Williams said during his exit interviews. "This was a great year for me. My family is settled and happy here, so it'd definitely be great to be back." Williams averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 assists this season and played well for the most part, but he struggled with injuries once again and a sports hernia ended his 2015-16 campaign. He will need surgery to correct the issue, but he's expected to be healthy by training camp.

Eric Bledsoe's knee is "nearly fully recuperated" according to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic.

He had knee surgery in December to repair the torn meniscus in his left knee, but this confirms that his rehab is going well and he should be ready to go for training camp. Bledsoe said that coach Earl Watson "was probably one of the main reasons" he was playing so well at the beginning of the season, so he could have a solid 2016-17 campaign if he can stay healthy. The durability concerns means he should be available at a discount as well.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca, Pau Gasol said that the Spurs would be an "interesting option" in free agency this summer.

"There’s talk about passing of the torch with San Antonio and a hypothetical passing of the torch with [Tim] Duncan," Gasol said. "For starters, nobody knows if Tim is retiring and he’s somebody whom I have maximum respect for. In closing, I have to admit the Spurs would be an interesting option for me." The Bulls took a massive risk by not dealing Gasol at the trade deadline, and there's a good chance that he leaves Chicago this summer in the pursuit of another ring. To be clear, a move to San Antonio wouldn't be great for his fantasy value.

Hassan Whiteside said that his hand won't be an issue in Game 6 on Friday.

He is dealing with some swelling, but X-rays came back negative and the injury isn't believed to be serious. Whiteside is averaging 14.0 points, 12.2 boards and 3.0 blocks during the postseason and is safe to leave in all active lineups.
Apr 29 - 11:59 AM

Tyler Johnson (shoulder) will be in the rotation for Game 6 on Friday vs. Charlotte.

Johnson was an "emergency option" in Game 5, but he never left the bench. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra confirmed that Johnson will see minutes Friday, but keep in mind that he will likely be pretty limited. His return could push Gerald Green completely out of the rotation and he might take a couple of Josh Richardson's minutes as well.

Al Horford scored 15 points to help the Hawks advance in a Game 6 104-92 win in Boston on Thursday, adding four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes.

The blocks were the story with the Hawk putting up 12 of those to shut down the Celtics offense in the first three quarters. Horford was terrific on defense in this series, but he didn't bring it on the stat sheet. In the six games, he averaged 12.5 points, 8.5 boards, 3.5 assists, 1.3 steals, 2.7 blocks and 1.0 treys. His groin injury looks like it's behind him as he gets ready for a tougher matchup against the Cavs.
Apr 28 - 11:17 PM

Isiah Thomas carried the offensive load in a season-ending 104-92 loss to the Hawks on Thursday, scoring 25 points with three rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 43 minutes.

He just needs some help on offense. The Celtics offense just falls apart when Thomas is out there in his All-Star season. The Celtics are playing with house money on IT after the Suns traded him away, so they will continue to feature him. They will likely add some help for Thomas on the offensive end, but the Pizza Guy should be ready to roll as a top-50 pick in drafts next season.
Apr 28 - 10:53 PM

Spencer Hawes has been diagnosed with a right MCL sprain, and he will miss at least the next week of action.

Hawes will obviously miss Friday's Game 6 against the Heat, and he's going to be re-evaluated in one week, although it wouldn't be surprising at all to see his absence extend beyond that one-week timeline. Tyler Hansbrough, Cody Zeller and Frank Kaminsky should pick up some extra minutes in Hawes' absence.
Apr 28 - 6:24 PM

Isaiah Thomas (ankle) will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's Game 6 against the Hawks.

The Celtics will go with the same starting lineup they've been using of Thomas, Evan Turner, Jae Crowder, Jonas Jerebko and Amir Johnson for Game 6, and Thomas will look to bounce back from a disappointing Game 5 performance for Thursday's home game.
Apr 28 - 6:09 PM

Tyler Johnson (shoulder) is being listed as questionable for Friday's Game 6 against the Hornets.

Johnson was available to play for Game 5, but didn't actually step foot on the court. He'll likely again be available for Game 6, but he won't play enough minutes to matter in any setting.
Apr 28 - 4:32 PM

Blake Griffin will not require surgery to repair his left quad.

Griffin underwent a bone marrow procedure on Wednesday, which is similar to a PRP injection and effectively eliminates the need for surgery. He's going to be sidelined for at least the next three months, so in addition to missing the remainder of the postseason, he won't be able to participate during the 2016 Olympic Games. He should be fine for the 2016-17 season, though.
