According to USA Today, LeBron James has decided to not run for either president or first vice president of the National Basketball Players Association.

Reports surfaced last week that James was thinking of running for president of the union, but he informed Heat teammate and NBPA secretary-treasurer James Jones of his decision that he won't run. James has said he is dissatisfied with the NBPA and that he thinks the union is "heading backwards," but did not want to run unless he could devote 100 percent of his time to the position.

Kemba Walker dropped 26 points in a 109-91 win over the Hawks on Friday, shooting 6-of-13 from the field.

Walker also hit 10-of-12 from the line and has now hit 10+ free throws in two straight games -- he never hit more than nine free throws in a game last season. He added nine assists, four rebounds, one steal and four triples and helped the Hornets battle back from a 20-point deficit in the first half. He's now scored a combined 50 points through his first two games and his left knee doesn't seem to be a concern despite having three surgeries in three years.
Oct 20 - 10:16 PM

Rodney Hood appeared to tweak his left ankle and had to be carried off the floor in Friday's game vs. the Wolves.

There are six minutes left in the fourth, so it's safe to say that his night is over. He couldn't put any weight on his ankle and it looked like he was in a ton of pain. He checked out with 20 points, four assists, one steal and three triples. If he misses time, Alec Burks and Donovan Mitchell get a bump.
Oct 20 - 10:12 PM

Derrick Rose sprained his ankle early in the fourth quarter of Friday's game in Milwaukee and head coach Tyronn Lue said the veteran is unlikely to play Saturday against Orlando.

Rose hit three of his four field-goal attempts while knocking down all six of his free throws to score a dozen points before departing. With Rose likely on the shelf Jose Calderon should see plenty of action Saturday night against the Magic.
Oct 20 - 10:04 PM

Dennis Schroder's 25 points weren't enough in Friday's 109-91 loss to the Hornets.

He kept his foot on the gas after a 28-point opener, hitting 11-of-21 from the field with five assists, three rebounds, one steal and three turnovers in 32 minutes. The Hawks may not be very good this season, but Schroder has no real competition for minutes and should easily have a career year. He couldn't ask for a better matchup on Sunday vs. Brooklyn.
Oct 20 - 10:00 PM

Luol Deng is inactive for Friday's game vs. the Suns.

He's not injured, but he's either being rested or is completely out of the rotation after playing 13 minutes vs. the Clippers in the opener. The Lakers probably want that contract back.
Oct 20 - 9:19 PM

Corey Brewer will start against the Suns on Friday, moving Luol Deng to the bench.

Luke Walton said a change was coming, but this isn't one that fantasy owners will be excited about. Both Brewer and Deng will be irrelevant when Kentavious Caldwell-Pope returns from his suspension.
Oct 20 - 9:16 PM

Josh Hart (Achilles) is active for Friday against the Suns.

He missed some time due to bursitis in his Achilles, so he may not get much run tonight despite poor perimeter play from the Lakers on Friday.
Oct 20 - 8:53 PM

Elfrid Payton strained his left hamstring on Friday vs. the Nets and won't return for the second half.

The injuries have been out of control during the opening week and Payton is the latest victim. There's no word on the severity, but hamstring injuries can linger without plenty of rest. The Magic play the Cavs on Saturday, so Payton should be considered questionable for now. D.J. Augustin is worth a speculative pickup and will likely be the starter if Payton misses additional time, while Shelvin Mack will back up Augustin. Payton finished this one with four points, four assists and one steal in 15 minutes.
Oct 20 - 8:50 PM

Lakers coach Luke Walton said he will make a change to his starting lineup on Friday vs. the Suns.

He wouldn't say what the changes would be, so we'll have to wait until tip-off. If we had to guess, Luol Deng would be an obvious candidate to move to the second unit after playing 13 quiet minutes in the opener.
Oct 20 - 8:38 PM

J.J. Barea, Wesley Matthews, Harrison Barnes, Dirk Nowitzki and Nerlens Noel will start against the Kings on Friday.

With Dennis Smith Jr. (knee) out, the Mavs had to shift Yogi Ferrell to a straight point guard for tonight. Barea was also strictly the backup to DSJ, so he should be fine in this role and could get 24-28 minutes. He has short-term value.
Oct 20 - 8:21 PM

Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, T.J. Warren, Josh Jackson and Tyson Chandler will start against the Lakers on Friday.

Bledsoe was listed as questionable for today, but he quote tweeted that report 30 minutes ago with a "Ha!", so apparently he's good to go. We'll see what quirky stuff coach Earl Watson has for us today, but start Bledsoe in all leagues.
