The Indy Star "keeps hearing" positive reports about Danny Granger's (knee) rehab.

The rumor is that Granger will be ready for Opening Night. That might be true, but sustaining health and effectiveness on the court has been his issue of late. Granger sat out until February last year, played in five straight games and then went back on the shelf for the remainder. His health will be something to monitor closely during training camp.

Kenneth Faried (back) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Bulls.

Faried getting ruled out a full 24 hours in advance of the tip-off is slightly concerning, although that could have something to do with the fact that Tuesday's game will be the first of a back-to-back set. Wilson Chandler got the start in his place on Sunday, so he'll likely be looking at another start on Tuesday night. For now, we'll consider Faried questionable for Wednesday's game against the Bucks.

Joakim Noah underwent successful arthroscopic left knee surgery on Monday, and he will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks.

Noah's New York homecoming has been nothing short of disastrous, and it only gets worse when you realize Phil Jackson signed this man to a four-year deal worth $72 million during the offseason. The initial report speculated that Noah could miss the rest of the season after this procedure, so the only positive here is that he'll be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks. Willy Hernangomez and Kyle O'Quinn will be manning the five spot moving forward, and both those guys look like quality speculative adds, with Hernangomez offering the most upside. Noah can be cut everywhere.
Feb 27 - 3:11 PM

Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) is unlikely to play on Monday vs. the Raptors according to Ian Begley of ESPN.

He's day-to-day, so maybe we will see him back on Mar. 1 vs. the Magic. With Joakim Noah (knee surgery) likely out for the season, KP may spend more time at center down the stretch. Willy Hernangomez looks like a great option in all formats Monday, while Lance Thomas will likely start next to Carmelo Anthony if KP can't go. Thomas played 37 minutes against the 76ers on Saturday, scoring 11 points with six rebounds, two assists and one triple. To be clear, Thomas' ceiling is low.

Joakim Noah is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and miss the rest of the season.

Just when we thought his contract couldn't look any worse. This report comes from Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, so it's more than credible. Noah's hamstring is the reason he's been sidelined recently, so the knee issue is coming out of nowhere -- this is the same knee he injured back in 2014, but it's reportedly unrelated. We'll have an update when the Knicks address this, but Willy Hernangomez should be picked up in all standard leagues. Kyle O'Quinn gets a nice boost as well. Marc Berman of the NY Post is reporting that Noah's surgery is scheduled for Monday night.

Ben Simmons had a "minor foot procedure" to stimulate bone growth and accelerate healing.

He had bone marrow injected in his effective fracture area, but the 76ers said he will resume training by the end of the week. Simmons has already been ruled out for the season, but he will continue to have scans on his foot every month. For now, he's expected to be ready for the summer league.
Feb 27 - 11:51 AM

Joel Embiid has some swelling in his left knee and is out indefinitely.

Embiid is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday afternoon, so maybe we'll get a better update on his timetable after that. He was originally ruled out through Mar. 3, but it sounds like he's looking at an extended absence. The playoffs are basically out of the question for Philly, so the shut-down risk here is huge. The outlooks for Jahlil Okafor and Richaun Holmes have improved with this report.
Feb 27 - 11:43 AM

Kyle Korver (knee) is questionable for Monday's game vs. the Bucks.

Korver was at the morning shootaround getting up some shots, so he's probably closer to probable. Whatever the case, we'll have a better idea after the pre-game warmups tonight. LeBron James is also questionable with an illness, while it's unclear if Deron Williams (trade) will be cleared in time. Iman Shumpert and Jordan McRae could see a bump in minutes if Korver is unable to play.
Feb 27 - 11:25 AM

The Nets have officially waived Luis Scola.

Scola was playing on an expiring contract, but this will give him the chance to join a contender in what could be his final season in the NBA. With Scola no longer in the mix, Justin Hamitlon should have a few more minutes coming his way. Expect the Nets to sign another big with their open roster spot.
Feb 27 - 11:20 AM

LeBron James (illness) is questionable for Monday's game vs. the Bucks.

If LeBron misses his second game in a row, Richard Jefferson will draw another start and will be a low-end streaming option, but Kyrie Irving will be the big winner -- Irving's usage rate without LeBron on the floor is 41.6. LeBron didn't attend shootaround, so he will likely end up being a game-time call.
Feb 27 - 11:13 AM

Thabo Sefolosha will start ahead of Tim Hardaway Jr. on Monday vs. the Celtics.

Sefolosha has played in two straight games after returning from a nine-game absence due to a groin injury. He's averaging 7.5 points, 4.1 boards, 1.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 triples in 27 starts this season, so he's more of a deep-league add if you need to stream some steals.
Feb 27 - 11:04 AM

Magic coach Frank Vogel finally admitted that Aaron Gordon is better at power forward.

It only took Vogel four months, but better late than never. "Everybody’s now in their right position, quite frankly," Vogel said. "I think Aaron being a four is better for him. He did well at the three defensively, but he’s better at the four." Gordon said there's better floor spacing with him at the four and added that he feels like the team is quicker. Gordon had 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting with three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one turnover in 24 minutes against the Hawks on Saturday, so his fantasy arrow is pointing up for the final couple months of the season as he's going to be getting a lot more easy looks around the rim.
