Lakers trainer Gary Vitti suggested that Steve Nash (leg, hamstring) might benefit from occasional rest during the NBA season.

"He might be a guy that would be better off reducing his minutes," Vitti continued. "Because he wasn't himself last year, let's see what he's like in camp. We're not going to beat the guy up." Nash is almost completely recovered, but at 39 years old the Lakers may have to get creative to keep him healthy during the season. He averaged 32 minutes per game last year, but he also missed 32 games.

Deron Williams turned Rajon Rondo into a turnstile during a 104-94 win on Saturday with 25 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 35 minutes.

Jarrett Jack was no slouch either with 14 points and four dimes tonight. Williams has come out strong in the second half, averaging 15.6 points, 4.2 boards, 7.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.8 treys. If you were patent with Deron last month, it's starting to pay off.

Gorgui Dieng played 39 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday with 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

With Nikola Pekovic only getting 12 minutes, Dieng picked up a lot of playing time. We still don't know for sure why, but Dieng has to be owned in all leagues because he is capable of being an early-round guy. If he was dropped, go get him.
Feb 28 - 11:05 PM

Nikola Pekovic played just 12 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday with one point, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

He played less than two minutes in the second half. The first thing to come to mind here is that his ankle isn't feeling great on the second half of a back-to-back set. His fantasy owners knew there was a lot of risk and hopefully the Wolves say it was just scheduled rest or because Marc Gasol destroyed him.
Feb 28 - 11:03 PM

Marc Gasol scored 27 points against the Wolves during a 101-97 win on Saturday with 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

He made 11-of-14 from the field tonight and bounced back nicely from an 11-point game on Friday. Unlikely his teammate Zach Randolph, Gasol is cruising in the second half with averages of 17.4 points, 7.6 boards, 3.8 assists, 2.6 blocks and 0.4 steals. He's one of the best big men to own in fantasy.
Feb 28 - 10:57 PM

James Johnson scored 14 points against the Knicks during a 103-98 loss on Saturday with seven rebounds, two assists and three blocks in 33 minutes.

He's arguably the most valuable player on the Raptors for fantasy value right now. In his last five, Johnson averaged 13.2 points, 4.4 boards 1.2 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.6 steals on 63.3 percent from the field. He should be owned in all leagues.
Feb 28 - 10:37 PM

Brandon Knight suffered a hip injury against the Spurs and will not return, finishing with just one point and two assists in 17 minutes.

He missed all six of his attempts from the field and clearly wasn't himself tonight. There is no word on the severity of the injury, but we should know more soon. Gerald Green started the second half in place of Knight, and he will have an excellent shot to play big minutes if Knight misses any additional time.
Feb 28 - 10:35 PM

Trey Burke is starting the second half in place of Dante Exum in Saturday's game vs. the Bucks.

Exum hasn't been playing well for the Jazz and was held scoreless in eight minutes at halftime. Burke, on the other hand, has been fantastic recently and is coming off a 19-point performance vs. the Nuggets on Friday. Burke is the PG to own in Utah for the foreseeable future.

Dennis Schroder helped allow the Hawks rest three of their starters and still pull out a 93-91 win in Miami on Saturday, scoring 16 points with four rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 35 minutes.

The Hawks have won all the games in which Jeff Teague misses, which is a huge credit to Schroder. Since summer league he has shown he's capable of being a starting point guard for several teams. In his previous starts, Schroder averaged 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 0.6 steals. He's a strong start when Teague sits, but the All-Star should be ready for action on Tuesday.
Feb 28 - 10:22 PM

Paul Millsap scored 22 points against the Heat on Saturday with five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two 3-pointers.

His fantasy owners will want to keep their eyes peeled for an upcoming DNP due to rest. Looking at the schedule, the Hawks have another back-to-back coming up next Friday and Saturday, so Millsap owners will want to be on alert there. Millsap continues to stuff the stat sheet, but he's actually only been a mid-round guy since the break because of his struggles at the line recently. He's a top-25 player going forward.
Feb 28 - 10:18 PM

Hassan Whiteside matched his career-high 24 boards against the Hawks on Saturday with 14 points and two blocks in 34 minutes.

Before his time with the Heat, Whiteside had a grand total of 39 rebounds in his career. Now he has two games with at least 24 boards and continues to be one of the wildest stories of the season. Plus, he's also made at least 60 percent from the field in each of his last two months. How did every team dismiss this guy?
Feb 28 - 10:08 PM

Marcin Gortat grabbed a season-high 17 boards against the Pistons during a 99-95 win on Saturday, adding 16 points, one block and three steals.

Time after time big men have been torching the Pistons frontcourt. Gortat has finally seen his his numbers come up with double-digit boards and at least one block in each of his last five games. If you were able to buy low over the break, you're probably seeing some nice dividends.
