Steve Nash has a sore left ankle and will not return to Thursday's game.

He's been bothered by a hamstring injury for most of the offseason and training camp, so this is a new injury. Nash's age is catching up with him at 39, which has caused his draft stock to slide significantly. He finished with no points and two assists in nine minutes.

De'Aaron Fox, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Justin Jackson, Zach Randolph and Willie Cauley-Stein will start against the Lakers on Saturday.

Fox was probable for his pink eye illness this week, so the Kings have been expecting him to play all day. He should have carte blanche in the offense and could have a strong run to close out his rookie season.

Joel Embiid scored 28 points with 14 rebounds, one assist, one block and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes against the Magic during a 116-105 win.

Coach Brett Brown left his second unit in down the stretch in the fourth quarter despite the Magic cutting a big lead to as little as nine with 2:15 left. After the game, Embiid said he is planning on playing in the back-to-back set against the Wizards on Sunday, so he should be all set for that one. As for his team, they're the hottest team in the Eastern Conference, they've won seven straight, and they're the healthiest they've been in years. It's certainly possible they can earn a top-four seed.
Feb 24 - 7:55 PM

Dirk Nowitzki (back) is expected to play on Saturday against the Jazz.

This is a surprise after Dirk had a back issue in the fourth quarter on Friday. This speaks volumes to how Dirk may want to play as many games as he can, so this is terrific news for his fantasy owners.
Feb 24 - 7:48 PM

Jimmy Butler (knee) is expected to undergo surgery in coming days and could return within 4-6 weeks, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.

Typically, a 4-6 week timeline is tied to a medial meniscectomy, so that may be what Butler has planned -- lateral or medial has not been specified yet. This basically rules Butler out until April, so his fantasy owners will have to figure out how important their next 4-6 weeks are. Dropping him is an option while adding Nemanja Bjelica makes sense.
Feb 24 - 7:46 PM

Aaron Gordon scored 20 points during a 116-105 loss to the 76ers on Saturday, adding seven rebounds, one block, four 3-pointers and matching his career-high seven dimes in 31 minutes.

The biggest takeaway for Gordon is that coach Frank Vogel let him bring the ball up a lot in the fourth quarter as the Magic played without a point guard down the stretch. Before this, he looked very rusty for about the first 60 percent of the game with terrible shot selection, but Gordon finally started to move and had his jumper fall the rest of the way. The PG move is a nice little bonus and he'll trend up very soon.
Feb 24 - 7:36 PM

Mario Hezonja scored 13 points with two rebounds, two assists, three steals, one block and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes against the 76ers on Saturday.

Perhaps the most noteworthy part of this game from a Magic perspective is that the Magic played most of the fourth quarter with Mario, Aaron Gordon, Jonathon Simmons, Evan Fournier and Nikola Vucevic, so they're OK going no PG. Coach Frank Vogel said he's going to play Mario "a lot" of minutes and it sounds like he's going to keep his word. Mario should be owned in standard leagues.
Feb 24 - 7:33 PM

Nemanja Bjelica will start for Jimmy Butler (knee) against the Bulls on Saturday.

Coach Tom Thibodeau doesn't get cute and goes right back to the well. Bjelica is familiar with the other four starters and has played 76 minutes next to them. He was also productive in that time, posting per-36 averages of 15.7 points, 7.1 boards, 1.9 dimes, 1.9 steals and 2.4 treys. He's the hottest pickup in competitive leagues right now with Butler possibly out for the season.
Feb 24 - 7:27 PM

Tyson Chandler (neck) will not play against the Blazers on Saturday.

The Suns are saying "hopefully soon" Chandler will be back, but they're probably not in a hurry. Alex Len has a clear runway for minutes and is worth a pickup while he's healthy.
Feb 24 - 7:22 PM

Deyonta Davis and Jarell Martin are starting against the Heat on Saturday.

Marc Gasol is presumably getting the night off tonight and there will be more minutes going to the young guys going forward. Gasol isn't likely to be shut down, so Davis may only be a spot-start option tonight.
Feb 24 - 6:49 PM

Marc Gasol is not starting on Saturday night against the Heat.

It'll be Deyonta Davis taking over as the starting center. Presumably, Gasol is getting the night off on a back-to-back set, which isn't a big surprise. There will be more rest for Gasol going forward, but hopefully it's only on B2Bs with their next one coming on Mar. 2-3.
Feb 24 - 6:48 PM

Tyreke Evans (right rib) will have an MRI on Sunday.

Coach J.B. Bickerstaff says he's feeling pretty good on Saturday, but the team did rule him out early. Plus, the Grizzlies are putting emphasis on their young guys, so this all suggests Evans is going to miss more time. Andrew Harrison is a strong pickup while Mario Chalmers also benefits.
