Ty Lawson (adductor muscle group strain) was held out of Sunday's practice as a precaution.

That's a fancy way of saying 'groin' and he sound like a game-time decision to play in Wednesday's opener. However, with just two games in Week 1, you probably have a better (and healthier) option on your bench.

LeBron James turned in his sixth triple-double of the season during a 119-104 win over the Knicks on Thursday, scoring 18 points with 13 rebounds, 15 assists, three blocks and six turnovers in 37 minutes.

That's the 48th triple-double of his career with those 15 dimes matching his career best for assists in a triple-double line. Plus, he is now only one triple-double shy of matching his career best for the most he's had in a season. James and the Cavs will be active in the buyout market, which could help LeBron get a little rest here and there.

Courtney Lee (illness) scored a game-high 25 points against the Cavs on Thursday, adding six rebounds, five assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes.

He was sick this morning, but managed to hit a season high in scoring. Lee has been a sneaky stud in standard fantasy leagues, posting fifth-round value in his last 15 games. While he won't be this good, he should be owned in standard leagues.

Kevin Durant had X-rays taken on his left hand after the first quarter of Thursday's game and then quickly returned to action in the second quarter.

X-rays were negative and it's being called a contusion, so it looks like Durant's owners, as well as the Warriors, avoided a disaster tonight. He's fine.

Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) was in a walking boot after Thursday's game.

Coach Jeff Hornacek said Porzingis suffered a mild ankle sprain after stepping on Willy Hernangomez's foot. Porzingis could get further testing on his ligaments in his ankle and could miss time. If he is out, Lance Thomas would benefit the most with Willy Hernangomez, Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Justin Holiday all likely to see minor increases in playing time.

DeMarcus Cousins hit 11-of-19 shots and a 3-pointer on his way to 27 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, five steals and four blocks in 35 minutes of his Pelicans' debut on Thursday.

The bad news is that the Pelicans lost 129-99 and a lot of the starters sat out down the stretch in garbage time. Boogie was a beast tonight, and even avoided a technical foul despite getting tangled up with Nene occasionally. Anthony Davis was also impressive, but the rest of the Pels were a mess. But as of now, it looks like Boogie and the Brow are not going to do too much damage to each other's stats.

Lou Williams came off the bench on Thursday in his Rockets debut and shot it at will, hitting 9-of-16 of them and seven 3-pointers for a team-high 27 points and two assists.

He scored 15 points in the fourth quarter of a 129-99 blowout win, so while it was a fantastic start for his career as a Rocket, it feels pretty fluky. And considering James Harden only scored 13, Trevor Ariza scored nine, and Patrick Beverley had just two points, Williams should have a tough time doing this again. Feel free to take a flier on Williams and hold onto him if you still own him, but we'll have a more realistic feel for his value going forward after a few more Rockets games.
Feb 23 - 11:08 PM

Damian Lillard scored 33 points during a 112-103 win over the Magic on Thursday, adding five rebounds, two assists and four 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

It was Lillard time late in the game with Lillard scoring 24 points in the second half, including 17 points in the fourth quarter. This was Lillard's 40th game with at least 30 points in the last two seasons, which ranks sixth in the NBA in that span (Harden, Curry, Cousins, Durant and Westbrook). So far the loss of Mason Plumlee, one of the league's best screeners and low-post passers, hasn't hurt Dame.
Feb 23 - 10:54 PM

Ish Smith came off the bench and hit just 2-of-12 shots for five points on Thursday, but also handed out 16 assists to tie his career high and helped the Pistons overcome an 18-point deficit to beat the Hornets 114-108 in overtime.

Smith clearly outplayed starter Reggie Jackson and got 33 minutes, finishing with a +/- of +20, while Jackson's number was a -20. Smith also got a bulk of the minutes tonight and it's clear by all the trade chatter that Stan Van Gundy was hoping to get rid of Jackson at the trade deadline. As of now, Jackson is still the starting point guard, but Smith should be picked up in most fantasy leagues in case SVG makes a move after tonight's performance.

Omri Casspi reportedly broke his right thumb in Thursday's loss to the Rockets, according to ESPN's Justin Verrier.

Well his stint in New Orleans didn't last long at all after being traded by the Kings this week. He scored 12 points and played 24 minutes, but he's likely to miss close to the rest of the regular season. And it's not like he should have been owned in many leagues to begin with. His absence will mean even more minutes for starter Solomon Hill and newcomer Hollis Thompson.
Feb 23 - 10:47 PM

Jusuf Nurkic exploded in his first start for the Blazers, scoring 12 points with 12 rebounds five assists, three steals and two blocks in 34 minutes against the Magic on Thursday.

Hello, sir. It's the first time he's double-doubled with at least five assists in his career and he's been shockingly good in the first unit. After the game, Nurkic said this was the most fun he's had in two years. Nurkic couldn't really set screens in Denver, but he was much better doing so tonight -- it helps to play next to Dame Lillard and C.J. McCollum. He's not likely going to be this good and has been wildly inconsistent, but obviously Nurk Alert has to be owned.
Feb 23 - 10:36 PM

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope went off on Thursday, hitting 11-of-25 shots and seven 3-pointers on his way to 33 points, nine rebounds and three assists in 43 minutes of a 114-108 overtime win against the Hornets.

This wasn't a season high for KCP, but it was easily one of the best games of his career, as he and Kemba Walker went head-to-head down the stretch and matched either other with big shot after big shot. KCP's 3-pointer with 18 seconds left ended up sending the game to overtime, where the Pistons coasted. Stan Van Gundy loves him and the trade deadline is over, so hopefully KCP will continue to play well over the last few weeks of the season.
