Dwight Howard's eye was fine by the time he left practice on Monday and he should be good to go when the Rockets open the season.

He simply got poked in the eye and will spend a lot of time at power forward this season, as well as start games at center for the Rockets.

Nene hit 8-of-10 shots for 20 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 26 minutes on Friday against the Heat.

Kris Humphries played just 13 minutes and perhaps Nene is ready to take the lion's share of minutes back at power forward. He has health issues and hasn't been great this season, but Nene is worth a look if you need a big.

Deron Williams said doctors told him that his calf injury wasn't "too bad," and he'll get an MRI on Saturday for further evaluation.

"It was already hurting in the first quarter," Williams said. "It just felt like my calf was tight. I went out and stretched it a little bit, went back in and … I can’t remember who I passed the ball to, but I jumped up and passed in the air and when I landed, I kind of landed on my toe and there was a sharp pain right to the spot that was tight before." Williams added that he did not know the severity of the injury, and anybody considering Jarrett Jack as an add might want to look at this injury more as day-to-day than week-to-week.
Dec 20 - 12:56 AM

James Johnson had one of the best dunks of the year on Andre Drummond on Friday, finishing with 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one block in 29 minutes.

"That was nasty, right? I cocked that joint back and banged on him," Johnson said. Yes, James. Yes it was. Johnson also picked up some playing time and could see more action with Landry Fields (head) getting hurt. He hasn't seen much playing time, but his upside makes him worth watching.
Dec 20 - 12:48 AM

Mike Miller (concussion) returned to action and hit 7-of-8 shots (all threes) in the Cavs' 95-91 win over the Nets on Friday, finishing with 21 points and two rebounds in 34 minutes.

Miller is capable of shooting explosions like these but at his age and with his injury history, along with the empty stat lines he's bound to produce, owners should make him do it again before moving the needle.
Dec 20 - 12:47 AM

Joe Johnson posted a huge line in Friday's loss to the Cavs, scoring 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting (including four threes) with four rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block.

Johnson is rolling at a top 60-70 level and it's not a bad time to see what you can get back in a trade. The Nets don't have a lot to play for and theoretically he could get moved, though it's hard to see anybody biting on the $48 million he's earning this year and next.
Dec 20 - 12:40 AM

Nick Young was ejected in the second half on Friday for a flagrant 2 foul.

He elbowed Steven Adams in the throat and this was an easy call for the refs. Young could be looking at a suspension from this one, so Wes Johnson and Wayne Ellington may see more playing time on Sunday. Swaggy P finished with 11 points, two rebounds, one steal and three 3-pointers.
Dec 20 - 12:32 AM

Kelly Olynyk kept his foot on the gas against the Wolves on Friday with 21 points, eight rebounds, three assist, one block and two 3-pointers.

He made 8-of-13 from the field with no turnovers for a massive night. Olynyk has been thriving off the bench especially in his last three, averaging 22.0 points, 7.7 boards, 1.7 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.7 blocks and 2.3 triples on 68.4 percent from the field. Needless to say, he needs to be owned in all formats.
Dec 20 - 12:18 AM

Jarrett Jack scored 13 points with four rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and one three in Friday's loss, and he could be in line for more playing time if Deron Williams' calf injury is serious.

Williams is probably heading for an MRI and he's not the most durable guy around, so Jack makes sense as a speculative add. Just keep in mind that he has been pretty terrible lately, but that could be a function of being a secondary player next to two guys in Williams and Joe Johnson that dominate the ball.
Dec 20 - 12:18 AM

Marcus Smart played well in his return to the lineup on Friday, scoring eight points with one rebound, four assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

It's not a huge line, but this is encouraging line. The triples and assists are two things his fantasy owners should be most concerned with because the steals are in the bag. As long as he can shoot the ball reasonably well, Smart could emerge as a must-start fantasy point guard. He should be owned in all leagues to see what happens.
Dec 19 - 11:15 PM

Derrick Favors went for 23 and 10 in Friday's road win over the Magic, hitting 9-of-14 shots with three assists and two blocks.

Favors put up a pedestrian line in his return from an ankle injury on Wednesday and he looked great tonight. He has been a top 40-50 value when on the floor this season.
Dec 19 - 11:14 PM

Shabazz Muhammad was excellent in his first start at shooting guard on Friday, scoring 26 points with five boards, five assists and two 3-pointers on 11-of-15 from the field.

The triples were a very nice surprise and he also had a career high in dimes. Muhammad played 38 minutes tonight and he's going to play in the mid-30s most nights going forward. He's not going to be this good, but he should be owned in all standard leagues.
