Goran Dragic (right facial contusion) will play without limitations vs. the Thunder on Sunday.

Dragic exploded for 26 points, six boards and nine assists in the Suns' season opener, but he was knocked out of Friday's game by "vision issues" related to the facial bruise. Now that he has a clean bill of health he should be locked into all active lineups.

Joel Embiid will play in Tuesday's preseason opener vs. the Celtics according to coach Brett Brown.

So it begins. Embiid has really impressed the 76ers at camp so far, though they have been limiting his workload and held him out of Thursday's scrimmage. While this news is obviously exciting, we're not expecting Embiid to see a lot of minutes in the near future. With that said, his upside is scary.

Ben Simmons rolled his right ankle on Friday and will have precautionary X-rays.

He's going to be evaluated right away, so hopefully we'll get another update this evening. The 76ers are just being cautious, but this could impact his status for some of the early preseason action -- The 76ers play Boston on Tuesday.

Hassan Whiteside sat out of Friday's practice with a sore left knee.

Teams are always cautious during the preseason and it's possible that it could just be a maintenance day for the big man. Whiteside is expected to see a bump in minutes this season and is hoping to show off an improved offensive game. He has first-round upside, but it makes sense to wait until the second round because of the small sample size and durability concerns. For what it's worth, this is not the same knee that bothered him during the postseason.

LaMarcus Aldridge said that he will take more 3-pointers this season.

After hitting 37-of-105 (35.2 percent) of his 3-point attempts for the Blazers in 2014-15, Aldridge missed all 16 of his treys for the Spurs last season. "[Gregg Popovich], after last season, told me to get back with it, so I’ll start taking that shot more this year," Aldridge said. The promise of some more treys is encouraging, but his upside in San Antonio is limited because Popovich likes to keep his minutes in check. He's more of a third-round target.

Blazers coach Terry Stotts is keeping an "open mind" about the starting small forward role, and he's considering Moe Harkless.

"Certainly Moe starting last year, that's the way we finished the last 11 games and throughout he playoffs, so certainly that's a part of it," Stotts said. "But I want to keep an open mind about it." Evan Turner was the favorite to start heading into camp and Allen Crabbe is in the mix as well, but Harkless' momentum from last season has carried over and he's reportedly been one of the most impressive players at camp. Harkless averaged 11.8 points, 6.5 boards, 1.2 assists, 1.0 blocks, 1.2 steals and 1.0 3-pointers in 28.7 minutes per game in April.

The Bucks announced that Khris Middleton underwent successful surgery on his left hamstring.

According to the Bucks, Middleton is expected to miss around six months. It's possible Middleton could be held out for the entire season, especially since this timetable has him returning around late march to early April. Rashad Vaughn is expected to start in his place, but Malcolm Brogdon is a huge threat to his workload and the Bucks could also bring in some additonal help on the wings. Expect Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker to benefit the most.

Thon Maker was cleared of any serious injury to his right wrist.

He's sporting a right wrist brace, but he didn't sound concerned about the injury and said he expects to be back on the court in a "few" days. Coach Jason Kidd wasn't concerned either, saying that Maker could even return in a couple days if the swelling subsides. There's nothing to worry about here, especially this early in training camp.

Dennis Schroder (ankle) will be re-evaluated in a few days.

He tweaked his ankle on Thursday and the Hawks held him out of practice. Teams are usually overly cautious during the preseason, so there's no reason to be concerned just yet. Schroder is poised for a career year as the full-time starting PG in Atlanta.

Paul Millsap continues to be "very, very limited" at training camp.

He's been limited to free throw shooting so far, but based on his original timetable he should be ready for the season opener. Millsap underwent a preventative knee procedure on September 22, so the Hawks are likely just being very careful with their franchise player. There will be several updates throughout the week, but this shouldn't impact his draft stock too much.

Blake Griffin has been working on his shooting from beyond the arc this summer and wants to be more confident from deep.

"I don’t necessarily think falling in love with the 3-point shot is a good idea, but shooting it confidently from there is great," Griffin said. While Griffin did only make six treys all of last season, he has shown he is capable. On his shots from 20-24 feet last season, Griffin made a very respectable 41.5 percent (34-of-82). Additionally, Chris Paul said the Clippers will tell Blake to "shoot it damn near every time he catches it." Even with a slightly higher upside, the injury risk will cause Blake to slide a bit this year, and justifiably so.

Brett Brown confirmed that he intends to play Dario Saric and Ben Simmons together.

"I think the pluses are you have 6-10 do-alls that really can jump into a very versatile defensive world with perhaps a lot of switching," Brown said of the Saric-Simmons pairing. "I think they are elite defensive rebounders that can rebound, lead a break, and take off." Brown hopes that Saric can get comfortable playing out of position at small forward, and he's determined to use training camp to develop some chemistry between the two lottery picks. It sounds like Brown plans to give quality run to Saric his rookie year, so targeting him towards the later rounds makes sense given his upside.
