Jared Sullinger (hand) blew up in a tough loss to the Grizzlies on Wednesday, scoring 23 points with two 3-pointers, 12 rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes of action.

Ten of Sully's points came in the final two minutes of the game, as Boston mounted a failed comeback attempt. He's now averaging a strong double-double and nearly a steal and block per game as a starter and he should continue to thrive at least until Kelly Olynyk returns from his sprained ankle in a week or two. His back injury and self-admitted poor conditioning during training camp haven't slowed him down, and he's been a steal for anyone who plucked him off the waiver wire.

Kobe Bryant said both of his Achilles are sore, and his chances to play Friday night vs. the Mavs are "slim."

Wayne Ellington, Nick Young, Wes Johnson, and Carlos Boozer will all be given more offensive responsibilities with Bryant on the sidelines. Nick Young has been struggling lately sans Kobe, going 6-of-19 from the field through his past two outings, so he makes for a risky option in daily leagues.
Dec 26 - 11:57 AM

Deron Williams (calf) is headed for a game-time decision for Friday's game vs. the Celtics.

Beat reporter Tim Bontemps said that even if Williams is available to play, he will come off the bench, so it appears Jarret Jack will have one more game with the starting unit. Through two starts with the Nets this season, Jack is averaging 16.0 points, 9.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game and he'll make for a quality plug-and-play option in daily leagues if Williams is unavailable. Stay tuned.
Dec 26 - 11:45 AM

Josh Smith is hopeful he'll be able to complete his physical and officially sign his deal with Houston early enough on Friday to be available for the Rockets' game vs. the Grizzlies.

Smith has been guaranteed the starting power forward slot in Houston, and if he's cleared to play tonight Donatas Motiejunas will head to the bench. If Smith isn't able to complete all the necessary paper work in time for tonight's game, he's a sure bet for Sunday's game vs. San Antonio. Stay tuned.
Dec 26 - 11:37 AM

The Rockets have waived Tarik Black in order to make room for signing Josh Smith.

Black is a serviceable backup center, and he'll likely find a deal with another team. However, he is nothing more than a backup, and with averages of just 4.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this season, he belongs on the waiver wire in all leagues.
Dec 26 - 11:25 AM

Marcus Smart will return to the starting lineup for Friday's game vs. the Nets, sending Jameer Nelson back to the bench.

Jameer Nelson had a decent game with the starting unit during his last outing, putting up nine points and 11 assists over 29 minutes of action, but the end result was a loss for the Celtics. Smart struggled during his first career start, managing just three points, four assists, one steal, and one 3-pointer, but he offers enough upside to warrant a stash in all leagues. Hopefully he'll be able to get things going in a favorable matchup vs. the Nets.
Dec 26 - 11:15 AM

Jeff Teague is set to return to the starting lineup for Friday's game vs. the Bucks, according to plugged in beat reporter Chris Vivlamore.

There was simply no way that Dennis Schroder was going to stick with the starting unit for long with Teague healthy, and it looks like he'll head to the bench on Friday ending his days of standard league relevancy. Teague was putting up early-round value before going down, and is a must-start guy every time he's in uniform. Go ahead and get him active.
Dec 26 - 11:01 AM

Head coach Gregg Popovich said that Kawhi Leonard's (hand) return will be dependent upon pain tolerance.

"It’s a pain thing," Popovich said. "He can’t move his hand. He can’t catch and dribble and that kind of stuff. Medically, they don’t think he can hurt it any more, so that’s good. So it’s just a matter of can he get used to the hand." Leonard remains without an official return date, and while he's sidelined Manu Ginobili, Kyle Anderson, and Marco Belineli will all see extended minutes for San Antonio.
Dec 26 - 10:46 AM

Patty Mills (shoulder) is hopeful he'll be able to return to the lineup for one of the Spurs' four remaining December games.

While Mills is optimistic, head coach Gregg Popovich will need some convincing before he allows him to step into any game-time action. "I’m going to hold him off as long as I can," Popovich said. "There will be a point he won’t allow me to do that any more and that’s fine. But for right now I’m winning the battle." Mills will likely be brought along slowly, and as long as Tony Parker is healthy, Mills can remain on the waiver wire in standard leagues.
Dec 26 - 10:38 AM

John Henson (foot) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. the Hawks.

Henson is averaging 4.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game over 12 minutes of action this season. Until he can actually step on the court, Henson can remain on the waiver wire in most leagues.
Dec 26 - 10:15 AM

Amare Stoudemire has missed just three games this season, but head coach Derek Fisher admitted that STAT may be looking at more recovery days in the future.

"When his minutes jumped up the past few weeks, his recovery was tougher for him," Fisher said. "The last few days a little bit of soreness, nothing crazy, but just enough for us to be really smart with his history." Fisher has been playing with fire this season, giving Stoudemire 29.5 minutes per game during the month of December. Amare has put in serviceable numbers during that span, averaging 14.0 points and 6.6 rebounds on 56.6 percent shooting, but he'll be frustrating to own when the rest days start piling up.
Dec 26 - 10:05 AM

Jonas Jerebko is ready for a larger role with the Pistons with the departure of Josh Smith.

"Obviously, with a 4 man gone - I see myself as a 4 man - a lot more minutes open up in practice and in games," Jerebko said. "I feel like I'm ready to take that step and I'm ready to go in there and battle for them." Jerebko was buried on the bench while Smith was with the team, but now he'll likely be one of the first bigs off the bench. We’ll be monitoring coach Stan Van Gundy’s rotations closely over the coming weeks, and owners in standard leagues can use a wait-and-see approach with Jerebko.
