Kevin Love hit 8-of-19 shots and two 3-pointers for 31 points, 17 rebounds, a steal and a block, but also took a scary fall that resulted in him landing hard on both his back and head late in the game.

We're not sure how, but he was able to eventually get up, shoot free throws and stay in the game. It looks like he avoided a serious injury, but his back, head and neck could be very sore in the morning, although Love said later that he didn't have any concussion concerns. Love proved his toughness tonight and was pretty banged up even before the fall, which is attached in the link. We're putting him on the injury report for now, but early indications are that he'll be ready to go on Wednesday at Oklahoma City.

Kawhi Leonard (hand) has been listed as out for Thursday's game against the Thunder.

There was some optimism that he would play on Christmas, but it doesn't look like it. Leonard's damage to his hand doesn't sound too serious and hopefully he can make it back on the court at some point in 2014. Kyle Anderson will start, but Manu Ginobili, Boris Diaw and Marco Belinelli are benefiting the most.

Dec 24 - 5:30 PM

Lance Stephenson (hip) will not play against the Thunder on Friday.

He is not close to a return and coach Steve Clifford isn't exactly Lance's biggest fan. He is one of the least efficient players in the NBA and his defense has fallen off, too. Stephenson isn't necessarily a must-own player anymore. Gary Neal, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Gerald Henderson will benefit.
Dec 24 - 5:19 PM

Kevin Durant (ankle) is listed as out for Thursday's game against the Spurs.

The team could change his status tomorrow, but for now he's not expected to play. This is a bit of a surprise considering the team called it a mild sprain and his owners will want to check back tomorrow morning to see if he goes through shootaround. For now, Russell Westbrook and Reggie Jackson benefit.
Dec 24 - 3:46 PM

Terrence Jones (leg) did some working out with the team on Wednesday.

He is still without a timetable and it's possible the Rockets may have had interest in Josh Smith because of the severity of Jones' leg injury. Regardless, the Smith signing has essentially put the kibosh on a breakout for Terrence Jones, so patience has not paid off for his fantasy owners. His ceiling is severely capped and he is a cut candidate in standard leagues.
Dec 24 - 2:03 PM

Chris Bosh (calf) is doubtful to play on Christmas vs. the Cavaliers.

He was initially targeting this game for his return so it is a little disappointing to hear this news one day before tip-off. Owners should check back on Thursday morning just to verify, but it looks like Chris Andersen and Udonis Haslem will continue to soak up his minutes.
Dec 24 - 1:23 PM

Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire will play on Christmas vs. the Wizards.

There was no chance that they would this miss this game, but it is great that we are able to confirm it this early. Both players should be in all lineups with just five games being played on Thursday.
Dec 24 - 1:21 PM

Josh Smith has committed to play for the Houston Rockets after he clears waivers at 5:00 pm EST.

Given his outstanding relationship with Dwight Howard and Houston's promise to put him in the starting lineup, this move was expected. It's a little interesting that the Rockets were so intrigued with Smith given how inefficient he is, but maybe he can turn things around and provide a boost to their playoff aspirations. Terrence Jones and Donatas Motiejunas' value takes a huge hit with this news, but owners should use a wait-and-see approach to see how things pan out.
Dec 24 - 1:04 PM

J.R. Smith (heel) said that he is unlikely to play on Christmas vs. the Wizards.

He is still dealing with plantar fasciitis so we doubt that he will be activated for Thursday. Smith can continue to be ignored outside of deeper leagues while Tim Hardaway Jr. is making a lot of sense in standard leagues for his 3-pointers.
Dec 24 - 12:54 PM

The Phoenix Suns have traded forward Anthony Tolliver to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Tony Mitchell.

Tolliver wasn't in the rotation in Phoenix and we don't see him playing a lot for the rebuilding Pistons, so this news shouldn't matter in most leagues. Tony Mitchell, on the other hand, has some potential but will likely be waived by the Suns. Stay tuned.
Dec 24 - 12:40 PM

Tristan Thompson will likely step into the starting lineup after it was learned that Anderson Varejao has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Thompson is a capable big who can rebound and score, but he isn't the most efficient player on offense and doesn't register a lot of defensive stats with season averages of 0.9 blocks and 0.4 steals per game. However, he should be in line for a big boost in playing time and should be worth owning in all leagues moving forward. Varejao can be cut across the board.
Dec 24 - 12:29 PM

Anderson Varejao suffered a torn Achilles tendon during Tuesday's game and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

This is terrible news for the Cavaliers and we wish Varejao all the best. This leaves Cleveland incredibly thin in their frontcourt and we expect them to be very aggressive in the trade market following this news. Tristan Thompson will likely step into the starting lineup and should be owned in all leagues.
