Iman Shumpert has an MCL sprain in his left knee and will have an MRI on Thursday to confirm.

When there is information about an MCL sprain before an MRI, it usually means the injury is at least a Grade 2 sprain with partial tearing, so Shumpert could be looking at a multiple-week absence. That could end what little momentum any trade talks for Shumpert had and he will likely stay with the Knicks. Tim Hardaway Jr. and J.R. Smith figure to benefit while Shumpert is down. To be clear, there is no official timeline on Shumpert and there should be another update tomorrow.

The Wolves are reportedly willing to offer Ricky Rubio a contract extension worth $42 million over four years.

Wolves GM Milt Newton said this week that he's optimistic the sides will strike a deal, though Rubio may be holding out for a max five-year contract. If they don't come to an agreement Rubio may try his luck as a restricted free agent next summer.

Mickael Gelabale told Sportando that he is still waiting for a good offer from a good NBA team.

Despite a strong season in Russia and a decent showing at the FIBA World Cup of Basketball, Gelabale is still a free agent. When asked if he was looking for a contract with a high-level Euroleague team or a chance to return to the NBA, the 31-year-old said, "I am looking for both. I feel I can play in one of the Euroleague top teams and also have a chance back in the NBA. I am just waiting for a good team and good offer to come." Gelabale has averaged 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 145 NBA games, so he won't bring much fantasy value with him if he does sign with an NBA team.

Tristan Thompson could start at center for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season.

While he is a tad undersized to play center, the Cavaliers are determined to keep Anderson Varejao healthy and bringing him off the bench could go a long way towards accomplishing that goal. Whether he starts or not, Thompson is expected to see time at the center position this season in an effort to get him on the court. The 23-year-old averaged 11.7 points and 9.7 rebounds last season, but will see a dip in his numbers (and minutes) unless Kevin Love or Varejao go down with an injury.

Jae Crowder expressed his excitement to hone his defense alongside Tyson Chandler.

He hasn't played a real game with his new teammates yet, but Chandler is already bringing a defensive presence to the Mavericks. "I’ve been playing pickup with Chandler for two weeks and he’s one of the best defensive guys I’ve ever played with," Crowder said. "I love defense myself, and to play with another guy who loves defense as much as you do is something special. The 31-year-old saw his number dip a bit with the Knicks last season, but fantasy owners can still count on Chandler for a nightly threat of delivering a double-double to go along with at least one block.

Celtics president Danny Ainge expects Rajon Rondo to have the best year of his career in 2014-15.

With Rondo's future in Boston uncertain, the Celtics' president did his best to keep Rondo's trade value as high as possible. "I think he looks great. Fantastic," Ainge said. "That’s why I just said he’s going to have the best year of his life. That would be hard to do if he wasn’t really good. [Any hesitation from the ACL injury is] absolutely gone. He looks great." Rondo averaged 12.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 12.0 assists, and 1.5 steals during the month of April and will easily return top-10 fantasy point guard value if Ainge is correct in his assessment.

Gerald Wallace (knee) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, according to head coach Brad Stevens.

While Stevens and team president Danny Ainge gave conflicting statements on whether Wallace has been at the team's facilities, it's clear that Wallace is at least in town. "I don't know completely on Gerald. I think he'll be ready to go by training camp, but I haven’t seen Gerald yet," Ainge said. Crash only averaged 5.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals in 58 games with the Celtics last season, so there isn't much fantasy value left in the 32-year-old's legs at this point.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are still hoping to add unrestricted free agent Ray Allen to their roster.

"Until he signs, that’s going to be a target for everybody," Cavaliers GM David Griffin said. "Ray is someone who fits us as a shooter. His championship pedigree fits us at a really high level. At the same time, it’s possible he’s not sure he wants to keep playing. He’s in no hurry to make a decision. We’ll play that out as far as we can." Allen only averaged 9.6 points and 1.6 three-pointers with Miami during the 2013-14 season, so he doesn't offer much fantasy value even if he does sign with the Cavaliers.

Coach Stan Van Gundy was thrilled to get D.J. Augustin in free agency, according to the team's website.

The Pistons have an open competition at point guard and it wouldn't be a total shock to see Augustin take the job away from Brandon Jennings. Anytime a new coach takes over and has front office responsibilities, that team will be worth watching in training camp. Augustin isn't quite worth drafting in fantasy leagues just yet, though.

The Kings have agreed to terms with Ramon Sessions on a two-year, $4.2 million deal.

He should have signed long ago and the Kings were somehow able to sign him and didn't spend too much with their bi-annual exception. He'll likely compete in a backup role with Ray McCallum, who didn't shoot the ball well despite his heavy dose of minutes late in the season. It also wouldn't be a shock to see Sessions unseat Darren Collison at some point. He's still not going to be worth drafting in most fantasy leagues due to a lower upside and a lower usage rate next to Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins. McCallum can be removed from your standard-league draft board while Collison has some added risk in the later rounds.

Taj Gibson tweeted on Friday night that he likes coming off the bench.

There was a report that he likes coming off the bench earlier this week, which has been a big storyline all offseason. Gibson was probably going to start in Chicago after his breakout season in 2013-14, but the addition of Pau Gasol put the kibosh on that idea. He will probably have less fantasy value this year compared to last year.

Updating a previous report, the Suns have no interest in an Eric Bledsoe sign-and-trade deal with Minnesota, according to sources.

The purported deal didn't make much sense, as the Timberwolves would simply be unloading bad contracts onto Phoenix in exchange for an all-star caliber player. With the Suns reportedly not interested in Ricky Rubio, and Andrew Wiggins being untouchable, there just isn't a plausible deal that could take place. It seems the most likely scenario is Eric Bledsoe accepting the Suns' qualifying offer, and becoming an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season. If he can remain healthy, Bledsoe could be a steal in the early-mid rounds of your draft as he looks to prove he’s worth the max-deal he is seeking.
