Kevin Durant is expected to be named the 2013-14 MVP early next week, according to ESPN.com.

LeBron James acknowledged late in the regular season that Durant earned MVP honors by averaging a league-best 32.0 points with 2.4 threes, 7.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He had a tougher time in the first round of the playoffs, but found his groove when it mattered most in Games 6 and 7 to help OKC advance to face the Clippers in the second round. The league is expected to officially announce the MVP award on Tuesday.

The Celtics are reportedly finalizing a deal with unrestricted free agent Evan Turner.

Turner will fight for minutes with the likes of Avery Bradley, Marcus Thornton, and Jeff Green. It will be interesting to see how Brad Steven's rotations develop over training camp, but it's well documented that Turner's fantasy value is limited to inefficient scoring and rebounding. He's not a very tantalizing pick in fantasy drafts.

Hornets coach Steve Clifford said that while rookies Noah Vonleh and P.J. Hairston have "starter's talent" they will not have a significant role with the team next season.

Clifford has really driven the point home this offseason that Vonleh will be brought along slowly, so owners should really temper their expectations as it looks like it might take an injury for Vonleh to see some serious time on the court. Hairston is going to be competing for minutes behind Lance Stephenson, Gary Neal, and Gerald Henderson, so he too will have a tough time contributing meaningful numbers on a nightly basis. It looks like both promising rookies have departed from the standard league conversation.

Isaiah Thomas told media during Monday's introductory press conference that he decided to sign with Phoenix because they made him "feel wanted."

"I wanted to feel wanted. They brought me in and liked me for being me," said Thomas. "They want me and I want to be here." That's probably a very nice feeling for Thomas after spending the past three seasons with an organization that never really wanted him. Thomas will bring a potent scoring punch to the second unit in Phoenix, or he could become a starter if restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe leaves via free agency. Either way, Thomas should be able to provide solid value with whatever role he holds in Phoenix’s high-octane offense.

Coach Stan Van Gundy assured Josh Smith "he's likely to remain with the Pistons," according to Yahoo! Sports.

The Kings are reportedly after Josh Smith, but nothing is imminent. The Pistons still haven't made a decision on Greg Monroe, but he should sign an offer sheet in the very near future. Chances are both Monroe and Smith won't be back next season.

Glen Rice Jr. scored a game-high 24 points before being named the Summer League MVP on Sunday, adding nine rebounds, two assists and six steals in a losing effort.

The Wizards' offense sputtered and they finished with only 62 points on 35.2 percent shooting, including an abysmal 3-of-29 mark from downtown. Rice Jr. has been a step ahead of the competition throughout Summer League, averaging 25.2 points on 50.7 percent shooting prior to Sunday's outburst. He was also shooting 44.4 percent from downtown and warrants attention as a potential 3-point specialist while Martell Webster (back) is out of commission.

Hornets rookie P.J. Hairston scored a game-high 27 points in a losing effort on Sunday, as Charlotte was eliminated in the semifinals of the Las Vegas Summer League.

Assistant coach Patrick Ewing said this week that Hairston "has the ability to be a rotational player in the NBA," and he has a chance to carve out a bench role during the regular season. He made three 3-pointers with seven rebounds and one steal in Sunday's game, but will need to improve his shot selection -- through six games he was shooting a mere 32.3 percent from the field.

The Cavaliers are expected to sign Andrew Wiggins to a rookie-scale contract in the coming week, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Wiggins can't officially be traded for 30 days after signing his contract, but that's not expected to impact potential trade talks with the Wolves for Kevin Love. It remains uncertain whether the Cavs would even agree to part with Wiggins in such a deal. Cleveland likely would have already signed Wiggins if they weren't exploring creative ways to use their remaining salary-cap space to fill out their roster with minor moves.

The Bucks officially claimed PG Kendall Marshall off waivers on Sunday.

Marshall's contract will pay him a relatively meager $915k next season, making him a cost-effective addition to the Bucks' backcourt. He started 45 games for L.A. last year, and despite struggling after the All-Star break he still shot 39.9 percent from downtown. Unfortunately, he's unlikely to have a big fantasy impact while Brandon Knight and Nate Wolters are healthy, especially if coach Jason Kidd follows through on his plan to use Giannis Antetokounmpo at PG.

Glen Rice Jr. hit a 3-pointer to send Saturday's win over the Spurs to triple-overtime, finishing with 36 points, 11 boards, three assists, four steals and six 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

He set a summer-league high in scoring and also moved back into the top spot for points per game in summer league. Rice could get some minutes with the Wizards due to the Martell Webster back injury and he is a possible target in very deep fantasy leagues.

The Bucks will be claiming Kendall Marshall off waivers.

The Lakers had to have known there was a strong possibility that another team would be claiming Marshall. Perhaps rookie Jordan Clarkson playing so well at summer league made it a risk they were willing to take in order to open up some cap space. Marshall will compete with Nate Wolters as the backup or he could start and move Brandon Knight to the shooting guard. Just like last season, the Bucks have some very interesting lineup decisions to make.
Jul 19 - 6:50 PM

Jabari Parker had his best game at summer league on Friday, making 8-of-15 from the field for 20 points with 15 boards, two assists and six turnovers in 30 minutes.

After the game, Parker said he only has about a "50 percent" understanding of how the Bucks will use him. That's not really an indication of how he's coming along and it's more about how much is up in the air with the Bucks. He really showed off his versatility on both ends and will be a candidate for Rookie of the Year.
