The Brooklyn Nets announced on Thursday that point guard Deron Williams will have surgery on both ankles on May 27.

He mentioned in his exit interview that he anticipated having offseason ankle surgery, and now a date has been set. Williams will reportedly have a bone chip removed from his right ankle while his left will be scoped for removal of bone spurs. He is coming off a very disappointing postseason, averaging only 14.5 points and 5.8 assists in 12 games played. Rumors of the Nets seeking a trade partner willing to take the oft-injured point guard off their hands have already begun to surface, but with $63 million remaining on his contract, moving Williams will be very difficult.

Russell Westbrook scored 31 points on 9-of-22 shooting (13-of-13 FTs) with five rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in Friday's win over the Lakers.

Westbrook is producing at a top-5 level in 8-cat leagues since his return and a top-8 level in 9-cat formats. With or without Kevin Durant on the court, he could easily continue this pace and he's currently in the MVP conversation.
Dec 20 - 2:31 AM

Reggie Jackson busted out of his slump on Friday against the Lakers, scoring 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting (3-of-5 3PTs, 4-of-4 FTs) with three rebounds, five assists and one block in 36 minutes off the bench.

Yes, Kevin Durant was out and yes this came against the Lakers, but it's probably just good for Jackson to see the ball go through the hoop. It sure seems like the Thunder are going out of their way to let Jackson know what the pecking order is in OKC now that the guys are back, but tonight's output is a reminder of both his short-term value and long-term value in the event one of the Thunder's big guns gets hurt again.
Dec 20 - 2:28 AM

Blake Griffin scored 32 points on 9-of-20 shooting (14-of-18 FTs) with 12 rebounds, three assists and one steal in Friday's loss to the Nuggets.

Griffin's general performance has improved over the last few weeks but his low rebounding totals have kept him from truly capitalizing on the momentum in fantasy leagues. Hopefully for owners this signals the beginning of a comeback in that regard. Chris Paul went for 17 and 15 with three steals and DeAndre Jordan posted 11 and 14 with three steals and a block.
Dec 20 - 2:21 AM

Tim Duncan logged 43 minutes in the Spurs' second straight triple-overtime loss on Friday, scoring 32 points on 12-of-24 shooting with 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and four blocks in the 129-119 thriller.

This was the first back-to-back triple overtime set of games for a team since the Baltimore Bullets did it in December of 1951. The Spurs have to get on a plane and go to Dallas for Saturday's game, and we'd be shocked if Duncan is allowed to play in that one. Then again, we were surprised when he played tonight so owners need to stay tuned.
Dec 20 - 2:13 AM

Danny Green scored 27 points on 9-of-21 shooting (including six threes) with 10 rebounds and one steal over 44 minutes in Friday's triple-overtime loss to the Blazers.

Green is returning top 15-25 value (9/8 cat) and while he's getting heavy run this week with the absences and overtime games, his production isn't the outlier that many believe it to be. The real difference in his value lies in the increase in trust and minutes that Gregg Popovich has been willing to give him this season, and it would be pretty surprising if he's not a top-40 play at the end of the year.
Dec 20 - 2:08 AM

Damian Lillard was outstanding in the Blazers' triple-overtime win in San Antonio on Friday, scoring a career-high 43 points on 16-of-29 shooting (4-of-9 3PTs, 7-of-8 FTs) with three rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block in 53 minutes.

Lillard stole the show late and his mid first-round value is a solid return on his second round ADP. LaMarcus Aldridge went for 32 and 16 with five steals, two blocks, and a three, and Wesley Matthews scored 16 points on 5-of-19 shooting with seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and two threes for the shorthanded Blazers.
Dec 20 - 1:57 AM

Nikola Mirotic made all six attempts from behind the arc on Friday against the Grizzlies with 27 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one block in 30 minutes.

That's good for a 100.0 effective field goal percentage. Mirotic has been a monster in his past two games, but coach Tom Thibodeau has already said he's not going to take away minutes from their big three in the front court. Taj Gibson (ankle) won't be out long, so the rookie only has short-term value.
Dec 20 - 1:36 AM

Dwyane Wade scored 28 points on 12-of-26 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds, eight assists and one steal in Friday's loss.

Wade is getting a ton of looks right now and owners should do what they can to move him while he's producing like this. The Heat aren't going to run him into the ground just so they can get trounced in the first round of the playoffs, if they make it that far.
Dec 20 - 1:35 AM

Jimmy Butler went off yet again on Friday, scoring 31 points with 10 rebounds, one assist, two steals and no turnovers in 43 minutes.

Jimmy just won't quit and he is going to get paid this offseason. Butler is coming off a career-high 35 points on Thursday, so it's probably only a matter of time before Jimmy gets a shoe deal, especially considering how high he jumps. He is for real and his owners can pat themselves on the back.
Dec 20 - 1:27 AM

Nene hit 8-of-10 shots for 20 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 26 minutes on Friday against the Heat.

Kris Humphries played just 13 minutes and perhaps Nene is ready to take the lion's share of minutes back at power forward. He has health issues and hasn't been great this season, but Nene is worth a look if you need a big.
Dec 20 - 1:05 AM

Deron Williams said doctors told him that his calf injury wasn't "too bad," and he'll get an MRI on Saturday for further evaluation.

"It was already hurting in the first quarter," Williams said. "It just felt like my calf was tight. I went out and stretched it a little bit, went back in and … I can’t remember who I passed the ball to, but I jumped up and passed in the air and when I landed, I kind of landed on my toe and there was a sharp pain right to the spot that was tight before." Williams added that he did not know the severity of the injury, and anybody considering Jarrett Jack as an add might want to look at this injury more as day-to-day than week-to-week.
