Latest Headlines

LeBron James has finalized his contract with the Cavs and it is for just two years, including an opt-out for next summer, and presumably a maximum amount of $42.1 million.

Sources around the league had intimated that he wanted a short-term deal and this confirms that. ESPN reports that the motivation here is to maximize his next deal when the NBA's new television contract is in place, which they say could raise the salary cap to $80 million in 2016. There is also uncertainty with the current collective bargaining agreement starting in 2017, because the owners destroyed a leaderless Players Association during the last lockout. With the players all but certain to demand huge givebacks amidst skyrocketing franchise valuations, all signs point to LeBron being the centerpiece of an even more complicated Decision Part 3.

Darrell Arthur (quad) will not play on Monday vs. the Nets.

In addition to Monday's game, Arthur is also expected to sit out on Wednesday vs. the Pistons. Kenneth Faried should be busy on Monday, while Danilo Gallinari should spend a lot of time at the four as well. Arthur belongs on the wire in most leagues.
Feb 8 - 6:19 PM

Derrick Rose will not play on Monday against the Hornets due to "just soreness overall."

He is hopeful to play on Wednesday against the Bulls. Rose played 34.0 minutes per game in his last two while taking a combined 47 shots in those two losses. The Bulls will start Kirk Hinrich and E'Twaun Moore in the backcourt while there will be plenty of shots to go around.
Feb 8 - 6:19 PM

Ben McLemore (wrist) will not play on Monday vs. the Cavaliers.

He was listed as doubtful, so he probably won't play against the 76ers on Wednesday either. With McLemore on the shelf, Marco Belinelli will draw another start and is worth a look if you need 3-pointers. Belinelli has scored in double digits in each of his last four games.
Feb 8 - 6:06 PM

Updating a previous item, Rudy Gay (ankle) will try to play against the Cavs on Monday.

It sounds like he is going to come off the bench with James Anderson starting over him. Gay did miss Sunday's game and is likely going to be limited for tonight. Start him at your own risk this week.
Feb 8 - 5:50 PM

Paul Pierce (rest) will not play against the 76ers on Monday.

It's the second half of a back-to-back after the road win on Sunday. Pierce is likely going to be ready for Wednesday, but he's not worth using in most leagues.
Feb 8 - 5:47 PM

Roy Hibbert (anke) will not play against the Pacers on Monday night.

It'll be his first missed game as a Laker and first since Nov. 29, 2014. With Hibbert out, Robert Sacre will probably get the start after starting the second half on Saturday. Brandon Bass and Tarik Black should also benefit.
Feb 8 - 5:33 PM

Kevin Love (quad) will play against the Kings on Monday.

He was probable and was never in jeopardy of missing this game after missing Saturday. HIs return will push Timofey Mozgov back to the bench while Tristan Thompson shouldn't play as much as Saturday. Start Love like you normally would in a favorable matchup.
Feb 8 - 5:24 PM

Ish Smith (ankle) will start against the Clippers and has a 24-minute restriction.

He only needed to miss one game after a Friday ankle sprain. T.J. McConnell will move back to the bench and the two figure to split the minutes at the one. Smith gets a tougher matchup tonight, so he's probably not someone you'll want to use in DFS tonight.
Feb 8 - 5:20 PM

Tim Duncan (knee) has been upgraded to questionable for Tuesday's game against the Heat.

He was listed as out earlier today, but the official team report says he has a chance to play. Duncan will likely be limited upon his return, which would also mean less run for David West.
Feb 8 - 5:06 PM

D'Angelo Russell (groin) is questionable to play against the Pacers on Monday.

This injury came out of nowhere and he may have suffered the injury on Saturday night. If Russell can't go, there should be more minutes for Lou Williams while Marcelo Huertas could be in the rotation. Jordan Clarkson would also likely see a bigger role if Russell is out.
Feb 8 - 4:36 PM

Roy Hibbert (ankle) is unlikely to play on Monday against the Pacers.

No revenge game here. With Hibbert likely out, that should mean more run for Tarik Black, Robert Sacre and Brandon Bass. Fantasy owners probably don't need to make an add here while Julius Randle could get a couple more minutes again.
