The Celtics are reportedly finalizing a deal with unrestricted free agent Evan Turner.

Turner will fight for minutes with the likes of Avery Bradley, Marcus Thornton, and Jeff Green. It will be interesting to see how Brad Steven's rotations develop over training camp, but it's well documented that Turner's fantasy value is limited to inefficient scoring and rebounding. He's not a very tantalizing pick in fantasy drafts.

LeBron James scored 25 points during a 104-93 Game 1 win over the Hawks on Monday, adding seven rebounds, nine assists, five steals, one block, four turnovers and two 3-pointers.

The Cavs lost an 18-point lead, but they finished strong to earn the home win. James picked up his 120th playoff victory in this win, which passed Michael Jordan's 119. He was hit in the face in the fourth quarter and remained down for about 15 seconds, but he didn't miss time after that. The Cavs will look to go 6-0 in the postseason on Wednesday.

Dennis Schroder scored a playoff career-high 27 points against the Cavs on Monday, adding three rebounds, six assists, five 3-pointers and five turnovers in 29 minutes.

Coach Mike Budenholzer went with Schroder in the fourth quarter due to his strong shooting in the first three quarters, but it kind of backfired. Schroder is one of the most Jekyll and Hyde players in the NBA due to how careless he can be at times. He likely won't play this much in Game 2 on Wednesday.

Coach Steve Kerr said Stephen Curry (knee) won't play in Game 2 on Tuesday.

The team will list him as doubtful "just to give people something to chew on," according to Kerr. The Warriors certainly didn't need him on Sunday in an easy win. They would probably like to hold him out for the entire series, but there is a chance he can suit up in Game 3 or 4. Shaun Livingston will get another start for Curry.

New Lakers coach Luke Walton believes D'Angelo Russell has the potential to be a "perennial All-Star."

"He has very high potential. To me, he can be a perennial All-Star," he said. "He has the vision that you want your point guard to have. He sees the floor. Once they put him in the starting lineup, he naturally got a little more aggressive." The new lead man likes how Russell can score from both three-point range and the post, and you can be sure Walton will emphasize both of those qualities in his first year on the job.

Luke Walton is expected to receive a five-year contract worth approximately $25 million to become the Lakers head coach.

In other words, he and Steve Kerr can now share something else in common. The Lakers should introduce Walton at a press conference shortly after Golden State's season concludes, but that could very well not be until the middle of June.

Updating a previous item, Dirk Nowitzki confirmed that he will opt out of the final season of his current contract with the Mavericks.

Nowitzki did reiterate his plan to remain in Dallas, so this isn't about to be a free agent bidding war. What this does mean, however, is that the Mavs will now face some very real pressure to construct a winner around their most important player, and it's very possible that DIrk won't be as kind with a discount this time around after playing for far less than market value in each of the last two seasons. The third-year option Nowitzki is set to decline is worth approximately $8.7 million.

Billy Donovan hinted that he may replace Andre Roberson in the Thunder's starting lineup for Game 2 vs. the Spurs.

"Sometimes I think you look at those numbers—and I've seen the analytics, I know them—there's times where you go against specific teams and you look at different teams and it's maybe not that great," he said. It's not currently clear who could take Roberson's role if he's sent to the bench, but Randy Foye, Dion Waiters and Anthony Morrow are the candidates.

Nicolas Batum, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, said that he's open to re-signing with the Hornets.

"When I came here they let me know they wanted me to be one of the [top] two options with Kemba [Walker]," he said. "I liked that. I like that they trusted me." He then added: "It was a pretty cool year. First time I got to play like I want to in eight years in the NBA." The second quote is an important one to focus on when projecting Batum's future. A versatile contributor entering his prime, Batum will be a sought after commodity in free agency and the Hornets will have to pay big money to keep him. Despite Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's expected from shoulder surgery, Charlotte should do everything possible to prioritize Batum's return. "Why not? I don’t know [what will happen in] a crazy summer for a lot of people. But why not? I want to talk to them first, for sure. July 1 will be a crazy day, but will Charlotte be my first call? Yes."

According to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee, Mark Jackson is expected to interview with the Kings for the head coach position.

It's not clear if Jackson is considered a serious candidate or if he's just part of a long list of names Sacramento is rolling through, but it's a noteworthy development either way. The Kings would be wise to find a leading person capable of building something sustainable on a team level and with DeMarcus Cousins, but then again, this is the same franchise that fired the person—Mike Malone—who showed capable of doing exactly that.

Chandler Parsons is expected to opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent.

Parsons has a $16M option, but it looks like it's just a matter of time until he officially declines it. CP's tenure (to date) has not gone according to plan in Dallas, and it's nowhere near certain that he'll return to the Mavs. Despite knee issues hampering his two-year run with the Mavs, Parsons figures to be a desired commodity on the open market and could command more money than Mark Cuban's team feels comfortable paying. In what has become an annual tradition, Dallas could be looking at some serious roster shuffling around Dirk Nowitzki this summer. We think Dirk deserves better for everything he's done and every sacrifice he's made for this franchise, but that's another story entirely. For what it's worth, President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson has been non-committal about a potential Parsons return.

David Blatt is "still in the mix" for the Knicks coaching job, a source told Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Spinach can be in the mix of a pineapple smoothie and go without being tasted, so take this report for whatever you feel it's worth. All signs point to Phil Jackson sticking within his coaching tree to make his next hire, and we're not prepared to believe otherwise at this juncture.
