Terrence Ross (illness) is not expected to play against the Cavs on Friday.

He had a minor hamstring injury earlier in the preseason, but it sounds like Ross is over his leg ailment. Jonathon Simmons has shined in the second unit and perhaps coach Frank Vogel will go with a defense-first approach in certain spots this season. Ross is really just a last-round flier.
Oct 12 - 2:52 PM

Spencer Dinwiddie scored 16 points with five rebounds, five assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes against the Magic on Friday.

He absolutely has minutes coming his way and he has already played next to D'Angelo Russell for nine minutes this season -- only two minutes tonight. Dinwiddie should be able to find around 20 minutes per game most nights, which is more like 24 minutes because the Nets are flying with their 113 pace and have a point guard-centric offense. Dinwiddie is worth a look for any PG-needy fantasy owner.
Oct 21 - 1:20 AM

Joel Embiid will be rested against the Raptors on Saturday.

He was only expected to play 20 minutes on Friday vs. Boston, but played 28 minutes because the game went down to the wire again. The Process didn't have a monster night, but still made fantasy owners happy with 11 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks, shooting 4-of-16 from the field and 3-of-3 from the line. He missed all six of his 3-point attempts with a few turnovers, but his owners can expect a better output on Monday in Detroit.
Oct 21 - 1:11 AM

Nikola Vucevic scored a career-high 41 points against the Nets during a 126-121 loss on Friday, adding 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and six 3-pointers.

Those 3-pointers were obviously a career high, and all that offseason talk of him adding 3-pointers may have not sold it enough. Vucevic is in a great spot with the Magic playing more up-tempo and he's still been able to do work on the glass. He wasn't in demand on draft day, but so far he's looking like a bargain.
Oct 21 - 1:09 AM

Kevin Durant finished with 22 points, seven rebounds, an assist and a steal in 31 minutes Friday in New Orleans, but the highlight of the night was his six blocked shots.

Durant tied a career high with six blocks, previously accomplished Nov. 26, 2016. The most amazing part of the blocked shot show was that two of the swats came against Tony Allen in the second half when playing with just one shoe on. That's 10 blocked shots through two games, as he really looks to be on a mission at the defensive end early on.
Oct 21 - 12:57 AM

Bradley Beal scored 25 points with four rebounds, four assists, three blocks and one 3-pointer during a 115-111 win over the Pistons on Friday.

He only attempted three shots from deep and his offensive game is starting to fill out quite nicely. After the break last year, Beal was part of just a handful of guys to post a 26 usage rate with at least a 61 true shooting percentage. He's increased his free throw makes in each of the last three seasons and he's up to 9.0 per game already -- 3.7 makes last year. Beal seems like a near lock to make the All-Star team.
Oct 21 - 12:31 AM

John Wall scored 26 points with three rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, two blocks, eight turnovers and one 3-pointer in 34 minutes against the Pistons on Friday.

Wall will be Wall with his 25-10 kind of lines, but so far we've seen him go to the line 10.0 times per game this season -- up from 6.8 last year, and 4.5 in 2015-16. He just turned 27 and is coming off career highs in scoring, field goal percentage, assists, steals and free throw makes. He's a monster, but you knew that.
Oct 21 - 12:21 AM

Otto Porter scored 28 points with nine rebounds, three assists, four steals, one block and two 3-pointers in 38 minutes against the Pistons on Friday.

He did most of his damage in the first half with 20 points before the break. Porter has been effective as a stretch four and coach Scott Brooks will gladly play him there as much as possible. He did slow down a bit last year, but so far he's getting big minutes and could be a bigger part of the offense to go with his well-rounded game.
Oct 21 - 12:15 AM

C.J. McCollum scored 28 points during a 114-96 win over the Pacers on Friday, adding seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

The Most Improved Player in 2015-16 got even better in 2016-17 with improved scoring and efficiency during his 80 games. McCollum and Damian Lillard continue to make a case they're a top-three backcourt in the NBA and so far the Blazers are batting 1.000 in getting into garbage time. They will get a real test against the Bucks on Saturday, and McCollum looks like a top-25 player once again this year.
Oct 20 - 11:35 PM

George Hill led the Kings to a 93-88 win over Dallas on Friday with 21 points in 32 minutes.

De'Aaron Fox got all the headlines for his strong opener, but this is still Hill's backcourt (at least for now). He finished an impressive 9-of-12 from the field and added five rebounds, two assists, two steals and three 3-pointers. Fox had nine points and 10 dimes in 26 minutes and both players can coexist on the court, so expect to see more two-PG lineups going forward. Hill will be a fun player to own until the tank gets rolling.
Oct 20 - 11:22 PM

Al-Farouq Aminu was terrific against the Pacers on Friday with 16 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, no turnovers and two 3-pointers in 35 minutes.

Despite coach Terry Stotts' best efforts, we now know Aminu will be starting in every game as the power forward while he's healthy. There was talk of him playing some SF, but that's not happening and he's done very well early. Although, the matchups were good ones, Aminu still looks like a player that needs to be owned in all leagues.
Oct 20 - 11:13 PM

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Dennis Smith Jr. (left knee effusion) has "a little swelling" and confirmed that he won't play on Saturday in Houston.

The good news is that the injury is not believed to be serious, so hopefully he'll be back after the weekend. His fantasy owners can expect an update on his knee no later than Monday afternoon before their game against GSW. In the meantime, J.J. Barea (nine points, 10 assists) and Yogi Ferrell (14 points) will hold down the fort in the backcourt.
